What's great about it: very nice visual and awesomly long cut scenes
What's not so great: boss does the same pattern of attacks.

"i played this game non-stop for 4 hours when i first bought it. what i love is the cut scenes(mostly). the voice acting or voice over is great also, but some character needed more work. the octo camo system is also a very very awesome system for any game designer to think of. what i didnt like was, snake camo his entire body, but not his head(early game). people walk around nearby him and doesn't notice the big white fluffy spot! his cqc(melee attacks) is very not so cool acting and sometimes glitchy. like the previous, snake carry a gun and a knife, but doesnt dual attack with them.this review is base on my experience, i loved the game but also didnt like it. played it twice in normal and hard and haven't touch it for 2 months."

What's great about it: The best justification of a 10 out of 10 I've ever play.
What's not so great: N/A

"I’ve always grown up with the notion that a 10/10 means a game is perfect and that no improvements can be made upon the genera. But MGS4 has changed my perception of this, and anything less than a 10 seems like a travesty in my opinion. While MGS4 is not perfect, I can’t honestly say I’ve ever been more emotionally connected to a video game before. MGS4 is an experience that lives up to its incredible high expectations and shatters the glass ceiling that hung over the stealth action genera. MGS4 is a once in a generation experience.
Anyone that really enjoys video games should get IT!!
Game of the year!!!"

"Never played any of the previous metal gear solid games but this game is awesome! Graphics are AMAZING and fun addicting game. Online is kinda different from other online shooters and hard for me to get use to but still pretty fun even tho my k/d ratio SUCKS!!"

What's great about it: Great action, fantastic variety, excellent graphics, interesting and free online, and the characters have depth
What's not so great: The story is still odd and there are lots of cutscenes

"This is like three games in one. The single player is very open-ended, you can play it like a spy who sneaks through a battlefield, or you can be a commando who kills everybody who looks at him wrong. Replaying it as a different type of person is like playing a different game all together, it's great!

Sometimes you will be all alone in the middle of a warzone, and sometimes you will find yourself killing a crazy robot with the help of several commandos who are on your side, they all feel right and work well together. There are also some situations which feel like they would be at home in Resident Evil, but it is still a great addition to the game itself, so I am happy, you will be too.

The graphics are very impressive, meaning you will see a great amount of details and that's a great thing given the nature of this genera. Also, there is a wide array of environments to enjoy, which keeps the graphics feeling fresh.

The online portion is very interesting, there are several modes that have Snake-style spies fighting guards or eachother, which is really unique for online and makes it easy for people to enter. There are also updates arriving to keep people playing it so coming lake to the party won't keep you from enjoying this part of the game.

The plot is a mixed bag, but the high point is certainly the characters. Several cut scenes will leave you feeling like these people are real and not just stereotypes. You don't have to know the story so far to enjoy this game, also there is a bit of downloadable content you can get for free that will explain who people are and what is going on if you do want extra detail.

The story is a bit convoluted and hard to follow, but that is not something you will be faced with too often, but there are some unclear moments. It is one of the clearest plots for this series, so do not let this hold you back, I just have to say something negative or I don't feel objective.

This goes into the "is it good or bad" column, I like the amount of cutscenes, but you may not. Just think of it like a movie, and enjoy yourself. If you really hate them you don't have to watch them to know what your mission is, so don't feel bad.

Overall, this game is wonderful, I suggest everyone at least try the new demo or just buy it now."

What's great about it: Almost the perfect game
What's not so great: Few camera angles can get on the way of gameplay

"Turned out to be a perfect game, once more, as expected from every game of the Metal Gear franchise. Graphics were, overall, the best I've seen so far, very competitive with Crysis. The new gameplay style, which is slightly different from the old one, is now close to perfect, the only thing that can get on its way is the sometimes unhelpful camera angles. The storyline (one of the most anticipated attributes of a game from the Metal Gear saga) was most brilliant, as usual. A must have, if you own a PS3."

What's great about it: Graphics. LOVE how you can blend into the walls.
What's not so great: I found this game extremely hard. It can get frustrating after awhile.

"I love all the Metal Gear Solids. This one was quit a challenge for me however. The enemies seemed ten times harder than I remember.
The graphics were incredible. I love how you could be sneaky by blending into the color of the ground, grass, or pretty much anything. Although sometimes I believe the game was a bit glitchy.. even though you were hiding pretty well.. the enemies always seemed to walk over and find you.
Great game but I wouldn't recommend it to someone if they get frustrated easily."

"Great game. As always, snake is cool and better than ever. Great graphics and storyline. Also extremely realistic. There are parts where you have to stay off the radar and go unnoticed, things like that. All in all, good buy. But what I can't understand is why they are taking the game demo out now."

What's great about it: Good control setup, 1080p picture, excellent sound, robust story
What's not so great: Don't let the Metal Gear logo sit too long on your plasma, it'll try to burn in!

"Hideo Kojima has done it again. MGS4 is the most detailed, convincing, and well-researched game I have ever played. It offers a compelling and imaginative glimpse into the future of high-tech warfare, a nuanced, intelligent storyline, vastly improved gameplay, and incredible graphics.

The metal gear franchise has always pushed the boundaries of what a game could be, and challenged the preconceptions of the audience. MGS4 starts out with, of all things, a short live action film about marine fauna. The in-game store discounts weapons (in real time) on wednesdays and sundays. These are just a few examples, but there are many more. The story has both the philosophical and political musings as well as the bizarre humor and one of a kind characters that fans expect.

The gameplay is more open and the action is more intense than in prior games. The environments seem much bigger and are bustling with npcs engaged in building to building warfare. Snake can join either side in the conflict or ignore them and sneak by. He has a ton of new weapons and gadgets as well.
The graphics are among the most impressive I have seen in a game. The characters are solid physical presences with subtle, lifelike facial expressions. The mechs move with an animal grace and hunt with a keen intelligence that belies their artificial construction.

Overall, the game is an experience that should not be missed by anyone with a PS3. If you don't already own a PS3, this game alone would justify its purchase. It is by far the most creative, original, and technically polished game to appear on the system to date."

"another good game from the MGS series, this game has some very good things going for it, the online play, for instance, is rather quite fun, Although it is still new and there arent many people playing MGS4 online right now, its main downfall is the constant barrage of movies and cut-scenes. If your a fan of the series, you wont be let down."
