"I'm a diehard Samsung fan, but this product fall way short. It sounds like a tin can. No bass and music sounds bad on it. Took it back the next day and got a sony which sounds great!"

What's great about it: Easy to set up , got it on sale for 170, comes with speaker mounts in the box
What's not so great: collects dust, sometimes sound crackle when playing rockband
"Took about a half an hour to set up , speaker mounts are nothing but just mounts,nothing spectial. great home theater package, many reviews say there is not much tweaking, but there is many different adjustments that can be made. you have to calibrate rockband if you want to use the surround sound or else it is off. really good sound. great beginner sound package. wait for it to go on sale. upconvert is okay"

What's great about it: It had good sound.
What's not so great: The system was very difficult to operate.
"I'm usually really good at electronic setup. However, I could not get the dvd picture to show on the tv screen. I setup the system according to the directions and I could hear the sound but no picture. I even had another person take a look at the connections just to be sure. Also the i-pod dock station is lame. You cannot play the music according to your playlist. It ONLY plays the music in alphabetical order."

"I bought this home theater system for my room...to be more exact... for my computer...ITS GREAT!! the sub woofer shakes my room and now ehn im playing Cod 4 (which is an amazing game) it feels like im there with the great sound... Buy this you wont be disappointed!"

What's great about it: Very easy to set up, not expensive
What's not so great: Rear speakers could balance a bit better
"This is a great little unit. It's not too much of an eyesore. The cables are solid and setup is a breeze. Volume is very nice, and comes out crisp. I'd prefer to get a louder adjustment level on the rear speakers, but this is really minor.
Bought at 230 bucks, compared to my brothers Samsung 1250 Watt 5 disc for $415. Not worth paying extra for what amounts to a little bit more sound and 4 disks to store in the player.
Good buy."

What's great about it: Looks nice, thats it
What's not so great: NO BASS, terrible menu, IPOD accessory hard to work
"Returned mine because this system had pathetic bass. You can only turn it up from the on screen menu, and even with that all the way up there was no bass. Couldnt get the ipod feature to work. I know this is a cheap system and you cant expect much, but even still, I expected much more than this. Best Buy did give me a $10 gift card for filling out a return survery, which is good."

What's great about it: Easy set-up, good value

"Overall, this is a fine system for the price. The speakers are powerful and clear, and set-up was a breeze - it even had color coded wires for the speakers so as to not cross wires (and I don't mean the red and black). A minor problem is that one end of the wires are not standard. It's fine if you have enough wire for your room, but if not, you'd have to employ a warranty voided cut and splice.
Also, when you use the iPod dock with your iPod, all of the songs appear in alphabetical order, not in the order they appear on the album - even playlists are that way. One of the main reasons I bought this system was for the iPod dock, so I'm thinking about packing it back up and bringing it to the store."

"I bought this home theater last week. I never expected something really great for this price. But the center speaker makes some vibrating noise when playing with 5.1 channel sound as if the speaker is torn.I tried few movies and but its the same.I am thinking of returning it in case this is just my problem. Anybody knows the solution for this ?"

"This unit is pretty much worthless and it's a shame that Best Buy is selling it to the public as a "Home Theater." It could "MAYBE" pass as acceptable for your kids bedroom but that, I guess, would depend on the age of the kid."

What's great about it: The Value
What's not so great: Limited ports
"I went to Best Buy to buy a Pioneer system which was on sale and found this one for sale at $159.00. At that price I could not resist it and brought it home. Installation was a snap and the sound really impressed me. The upconverting DVD player produces very nice upgraded picture. It is at par with my other two upconverting players, a Pioneer and a RCA. Of course it is not comparable to a Blu-Ray player but it does an excellent job. The only thing that bothered me about this system was the lack of digital audio input ports at the back of the unit. It has just one optical input port. But the easy solution is to buy a converter switch which will increase the number of optical ports to 3 right away. One can even buy a coaxial to optical converter so the limitations of the ports could be solved if need be. If your current need is limited like mine then all you have to do is to hook the unit to the TV with the available HDMI port and use the optical port for Blu-ray or PS3/Xbox hook up. If you want to buy a good sound system at a very reasonable price then this is the system for you. Somebody else complained about the DVD player to move from 1080p to 420p everytime he switched DVDs. I was also having the same feeling in the beginning but then I realized that the player does not actually do that. Everytime one wants to check what type of upconverting the player is set to, it always goes to the next one and then displays it giving the impression that the display is set to 420p (if you already have it set to 1080p). The way to test is to set it to 1080i and then change DVD and check for the display and you will see that it is showing 1080p. Another reviewer complained that there is no control to change the subwoofer/bass or speaker sound. This is not true. You can control all these through the menu system. At $159 it is an awesome unit and satisfies all my needs for converting my small garage-top bonus room into a cozy home theater. I like this unit and the blue light display also is no bother for me (It can be turned down if need be). Hope this review will be helpful."

Great Sound System

What's great about it: Easy to set up, Compact sytem, Very good sound & good price ( I got it on sale for 179 a few weeks ago)
What's not so great: Its hard to keep all that speaker wire orgenized, The black shows a lot of dust
"I thought this was a breeze to set up.. I was going to buy a 2.1 system instead of a 5.1because i was a little bit short on space but this samsung sound system is very compact and it really packs a puch... I am glad i did buy a 5.1 sound system.. My xbox 360 sounds great via the digital optical wire.. the thing that i wished this system had was more digital optical inputs but i mean even the 500 dollar home theater systems only have one. But its kinda of a hassel to hook my Blue ray, Xbox and my Tv to the same digital audio input.. I was not too impressd with the 1080p conversion via the HDMI i mean its look ok but its denenetly no Blue ray and its really no big deal since i decided to but this system for the sound and not the DVD player and i already have a Blue ray Disc player. I also think that the black is a very nice color but its shows off lots of dust and i have to dust it almost every day so does my flat screen tv and its not that much of a problem anyways but since i have this in my dorm i have limited space and i guess the system was made for bigget rooms and the speaker wires are really long and they are a pain in the rear end to keep orgenized... Overall this is a really good sound system from a good Company at a very good price i recomend this to anyone who doesnt want to pay a lot of money for a system with no blue ray because the 1080p upconversion on any system does not come close, anywhere close to the picture quality of a blue ray disc player... I dedenetly recomend this Samsung home Theater system... 5/5!!"

"when i bought this system 2 weeks ago i haven't had any problem w/. it yet.the system was excelent.everything work fine. when i put it in tuner or ipod i put the volume on the mid range or enough for me so i see can hear it. i don't turn it really loud coz i know this system is not build for that.this some of the people don't understand bout home theater system and home entertainment system.when you use this system on dvd or movie it does it job.when i use it and the blue light is on i turned it off . when i have a guess and whe're watchin a movie then i let the blue light on. is for show.?"

"I got an awesome deal on this system and got it for $170 on BlackFriday. I had it set up within 20 minutes of getting it home, and it was awesome that it came with speaker mounts, so that saved some money. After connecting my PS3 through the optical audio port, I was happy and going.
Keep in mind this thing doesn't have too many ports on it at all, so it's only great if you've got one or two things to hook up. It does everything that I need it to. I haven't bothered to use the DVD player, so it's pretty much just the receiver and speakers that I'm using.
This is a great entry-level sound system, and the subwoofer has plenty of bass to shake my bedroom. It was an amazing deal for what I paid, and if you can get it at that price, do it."

"If you are looking for a top of the line system, don't spend $180 and expect a miracle. You get what you pay for... Having said that... the system is PERFECT for a guest bedroom. The controls are adequate and work well with cable tv and a 22 inch lcd with 1080p capabilities... it provides a perfect interface for those overnite guests or an occasional guest suite for the homeowner.
If you add up what you get for the money, it is well worth the price."
