Great Alternative to a Factory Installed Bluetooth   11/11/2008
By MisterGadget from Louisville, KY

What's great about it: Easy to pair with devices and great sound through the car radio
What's not so great: Nothing so far....

"My first car bluetooth and it's the best bluetooth device I've ever used in terms of pairing with phones and sound quality. I'd recommend this to anyone in the market for a device of this type. Avoid the expensive factory installed devices since this does it all with no installation costs."

Amazing handsfree bluetooth device!   09/15/2008
By Toady from Los Angeles, CA

What's great about it: Like having a built in bluetooth device!
What's not so great: Brief set up before driving

"I really dislike wearing an ear piece around, well, anywhere, and only need bluetooth capability when driving. This gadget by Motorola has been very convenient, particularly since the handsfree law went into effect in California. It's very intuitive in function, and has excellent voice quality for both parties."

Don't waste your money   09/05/2008
By WitchMAn from Salem,MA

What's great about it: Okay for making outgoing calls if you dial from phone
What's not so great: Really dosen't work

"After having this thing for over three months and trying to give it an honest trial I have to wright this review it just plainly does not work I have a Motorola i880 which it is supposed to work with (after all there both made by the same company) if you do the compatibility check the i880 is listed. After pairing the phone to the motorokr it did make
an outgoing call and it did recieve incoming calls but when you try to have your call come over your radio IT DROPS THE CALL! If you try to redial the call as per instructions (hold call button for 2 seconds) it randomly dials any number from your phone book.
When I tried to play mp3 files from my phone it dosen't work either. I called tech support and was informed that the
MP3 part of my phone is not compatible with this device only the making of calls will work (isn't bluetooth, bluetooth?) why would one part work and not the other. I wish I hadn't waited so long as I would return this thing because it is not worth the money and if anything it is only going to cause an accident because you spend more time looking up at your visor trying to get the stupid thing to work really defeats the hands free
part!"

T505 Hands Free   08/19/2008
By BigB310 from Los Angeles

What's great about it: Good Volume
What's not so great: FM Radio Feature Not User Friendly

"Setup was easy, paired right up with my Blackberry. I wear hearing aids, and the main feature I wanted was the ability to have the audio go through the FM radio in my car. Unfortunately, in LA there aren't very many open frequencies and it was impossible to have a set pre-set on the radio, and you can't designate a frequency on the T505. Each time I got ready to make a call, I had to press the button on the unit to see what radio frequency was selected by the T505. When on a call, all of a sudden you may have to change the radio to keep the call - too much trouble."

Bad In Big Metro Areas   08/16/2008
By ciofromla from Los Angeles, CA

What's great about it: 1) East to set up and use, 2) Good Bluetooth integration, 3) Portable/can use in more that one car
What's not so great: Too much static and break-up due to poor signal isolation in big cities w/many FM stations

"Before launching into my critical comments, let me first say that the Motorola T505 is a very slick device that is super easy to use. It automatically finds an open FM channel and it seems to hold a charge for a very long time. Now for the bad news. The device works really well UNLESS you are driving in a large city with a crowded FM band. In my case, I live and work in Southern California where there are too many FM stations to count. After using the Motorola T505 for about 3 weeks, I've decided to throw in the towel and look for another hands-free device. This one just doesn't cut it. For those of you that know know So. Cal., I communicate daily on the 405 Freeway between my home in West L.A. and my office in Sylmar. I often use the 30 minute drive to get things done by phone. On rare days with good FM reception and signal isolation, the sound quality of the T505 is very good. On most days though, there is an intermittent hissing in the background. This hissing is not a major issue on my end of the converstation. However, I've been told several times by the person on the other end of the conversation that it sounds like my voice is cutting in and out, and that there is a large amount of background noise. This is especially problematic when I'm on a conference call where the sound quality is often compromised to begin with. But the real problem comes when I'm using the T505 on days with bad FM reception (caused by atmospheric conditions maybe?). On those days, the interference can be so bad that the conversation is drown out by loud static and broadcast traffic from other frequencies. On several occasions, the quality has been so bad that I've had to shut off the T505 and use the speakerphone on my BlackBerry instead. There's even been two or three times when the interference caused the phone to disconnect in mid-conversation. As if these problems weren't enough, the T505 has this annoying little habit of dropping its FM signal after 10 or 15 minutes if the phone is not in use. To restore the broadcast link, you must press a button on the back of the T505. In summary, if you do much driving in large metropolitan areas, you should avoid buying hands-free devices such as the T505 that use the FM band to transmit sound through your car's speaker system."

Great product but has some quirks   08/16/2008
By EvilHomer from Sacramento, CA

What's great about it: Battery life, sound
What's not so great: power up, FM transmitter

"I've had this for about two months and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I like that the unit has it's own built in speaker so you don't necessarily have to use it with the car radio (although I've been told I don't sound very good when using the unit's speaker). The battery life is excellent. The only complaints I have are...

1. You have to hold the power button for 4 to 5 seconds before it finally turns on. Can be a problem if you're driving long distances without using the phone, it turns off, then you're fumbling with the thing trying to turn it on while driving.

2. The FM transmitter turns off after 10 minutes of non use. Someone else posted that if you hold the button for too long, it will prompt you to change to a different station. I've never had that problem but it is annoying that it shuts off so soon.

My commute is fairly short so these issues don't effect me too much. Everything else about this works great. I do recommend it to others but just keep the cons in mind when doing you're shopping..."

Outstanding Product- Superior Beyond Expectations   08/12/2008
By ResearchNut from Spokane, WA

What's great about it: You don't have to drive with a bluetooth headset plugged into your ear for hours on end!
What's not so great: The volumn can BLOW you away if you're not careful. it can get that loud! But that's not really a bad thing at all.

"All the reviews are good, but none mention that many drivers, including mysef, drive with a satelite radio on most of the time. So, can this little gadget pass the test with a satelite radio connected through your FM radio-- and still pass the test? YES, and with flying colors! All you have to do is program one of your fm stations as a dedicated station (the instructions tell you how this is done) and you can listen to your satelite radio. When you get a call, your cell phone will ring and all you have to do is push your dedicated station, and then answer your call from your T505 and it will be played through your car or truck speakers. Of course, you don't have to do any of that if you just use the T505 without the FM wireless option. The T505 connected through your FM radio and going to your speakers gives you the ability to NEVER have a problem hearing the other party. And the other end can hear you with all your windows down and wind blowing through the car. They will not hear hardly any of the wind, only your voice--- wow! and the volume is only limited to your speakers ability... ie... my kids could hear me talking over a block away with my door open! Now, that's volume! And that was though stock speakers in a Dodge Ram. The T505 is Worth every cent, especially if you don't want something stuck in your ear all day, and have to have that muted feeling in your hearing. You can also take your T505 and phone with you and it's like having a super loud speaker phone out in the field in work situations where you need your hands to work but need to listen and talk. It is a great product."

Too gimmicky, not practical   08/12/2008
By IndyJones73 from SF, Ca

What's great about it: Attractive appearance
What's not so great: FM feature turns itself oof after two minutes

"I purchased this product due largely to the fact that it stated the audio could be played over the vehicle's FM Stereo speakers, there by increasing clarity and ease of communication.
While using this feature does make the call sound better, it is the process of using this feature that makes it more of a gimmick than a useful tool.
In short, the FM transmit feature turns itself off after 10 minutes. If you get, or want to make a call after this time and want to hear it over the speakers, you must :
1) Ensure that you stop whatever radio station, CD, other MP3 plug in, sattelite radio, or whatever else you are listneing to and get your radio on the one proper radio channel this thing has selected
2) Attempt to 'tap' a small button on the back of the device to re-activate the FM feature. 'Tap' becuase if you hold it for a micron too long, it will select a DIFFERENT FM station to broadcast too, requiring you to tune into that new station.
3) Do all of this while keeping your eyes on the road; a neat trick since your hand will be in front of your face while you mess with this little device mounted to the sunvisor in front of you.
4) Answer the call, hoping that it has not gone to voice mail or that you have crashed your car while screwing around doing steps 1 and 2 and 3.
This process, to me, defeats the intnet of a hands free device, which is communicating easily while driving without having to manipulate a complex device.
If the FM transmitter would simply stay on, at least when the device is plugged into the car's power source, a great deal of this would be simplified.
It is because of this that this product is more gimmicky than practical. I am returning the two sets I bought for my wife and I and buying adifferent product for approximately $60.00 less per unit that is far more practical.....and less gimmicky.
Oh, and broadcasting MP3s relayed from a third device? Please..... that's just the cherry on the gimmick cake!"

T505   07/22/2008
By RKozak201 from Reading, PA

What's great about it: Very easy to setup and sounds great through the car speakers.
What's not so great: I wish this unit would recognize the names listed in the address book rather then giving the phone # for the caller ID.

"This is a great inexpensive device that adds to the safety for your vehicle and mobile phone usage. I have always had a good relationship with Motorola products and this unit is no different.
The only things that I wish this unit could do is recognize the names in my phone book because I do not remember phone numbers for caller ID, does anybody. I also wish that I could change the setting of the FM Modulator to match my favorite station instead of having to make the change but I do unsderstand why this is done.
All-in-all this is a great hands-free device that I would recommend to anyone."

Excellent Device   07/22/2008
By Anonymous Reviewer from Portland, OR

What's great about it: Easy to set up and use, it works well-Sounds Quality good!
What's not so great: none

"I was cautious buying this device, it seemed too good to be true. After Best Buy employee insured me I could return it no problem if I didn't like it, I decided why not give it a try. I quickly knew I would not be returning this device. My blue tooth ear piece was always hard to hear in the car, now I just turn up the volume on my car stereo, impossible not to hear. You'll feel like you have your own talk radio show! Not quite as good as the $800 car stereo system to allow my stereo faceplate to control phone functions and integrate a bit more seamlessly, but for $129 it's the hands down winner. With the included Car charger, I now have two chargers to both charge my Motorola phone and this Motorokr, for charging at home or on the road it works with both, a nice bonus."

What's great about it: Great sound, easy to use
What's not so great: None

"I have used this now in 3 different vehicles and can't say enough good about it. Microphone works great, speaker was good for a small speaker, but using it through the stereo system on the vehicles was great. The mp3 player on my cell phone (LG) and the Verizon navigator worked great with it. Definitely a great hands free choice."

Surprising!   07/02/2008
By SUVDRIVER from TEXAS

What's great about it: Very Clear, very easy to use, Better than Parrot by far
What's not so great: None so far

"This is my first review ever. I felt like I needed to tell people that this is a great product. I was looking for a wireless Bluetooth speaker for my leased car. I did not want anything installed or the dash or console disturbed. After reading the reviews and going to the Motorola website for more info, I bought the T515. Man was I surprised! It works GREAT. My friend has the
Parrot installed in his car and this T515 sounds 100 times better than the $300+ he paid to buy and install the Parrot. JUST BUY IT--T REALLY WORKS!!
The radio feature is just a bonus, i just use the speaker on the T515 without the radio and it works just fine."

Best Bluetooth I've owned   06/25/2008
By GetRidOFWires

What's great about it: Clear FM sound, pairs and remembers partners
What's not so great: Sun visor clip is a little large

"I have tried and returned many FM transmitters because their sound quality was very poor. I have been driving with a Bluetooth headset, but I don't like blocking off one ear. The T505 got good reviews here and on other web sites, so I decided to get one last night. I also bought the small Sony BT transmitter for my iPod. I'm very happy with the result: they paired up right away, and the FM sound is excellent. No fuzziness, no hiss, no weak sound. I also paired it with my iPhone and in the couple of trial calls I made, the sound was good and the speakerphone worked well. You can also listen to your phone calls through your car speakers, which is nice. Unfortunately the iPhone doesn't currently support the A2DP protocol, so you can't listen to your iPhone music without using the Sony BT transmitter.
I would definitely get this product again; I may buy one for my wife as she liked it and it seems pretty easy to use."

Great Product   06/06/2008
By mogolf

What's great about it: battery life, easy to use
What's not so great: none

"Even better than advertised! Although the info doesn't explain this, it works with both my ipod (with bluetooth adapter) and my phone at the same time. I first let it sync with the ipod, then connect the phone and it works flawlessly. When a call comes in, the music pauses and the unit announces the incoming number. When the call is finished, the music resumes. I have had this for one week and love it more every day. The battery life is outstanding, haven't charged it since the first time. I rented a Ford Fusion with Sync and loved that. Found this at Best Buy the next day. Not quite as elaborate as the Sync, but certainly the next best thing. I can hear and understand people better through the car speakers than I can with just the unit speaker, but it is adequate. People can hear me just fine, and none of them have stated that I sound funny. This is truly a great product, I am recommending to everyone I know who spends a lot of time in the car."

By Anonymous Reviewer from South Bend, IN

What's great about it: Wireless, Ease of Use, Very Portable
What's not so great: None

"This product is awesome, I would encourage anyone that is looking for a Hands-Free Car Kit to purchase this one. I am an outside Sales Representative that travels all over the states, this unit virtually has the same quality of sound as the GM Onstar Phone that is installed in select GM vehicles. The phone call transmits right through your FM Stereo and is crystal clear. I showed my co-worker the product and he went out and bought one the same day. Very Pleased."

Look mom...no hands!   05/28/2008
By LynsSD from San Diego, CA

What's great about it: Easy set-up, easy synch with phone, easy synch with car FM stereo, simple and minimalistic buttons/usage, clear, loud.

"Since it will soon be illegal to drive in the state of California and talk on the phone at the same time without handsfree tools goes into effect July 1st I had to figure something out.

I really hate using the earpieces (whether connected via cord to the phone or via bluetooth earpiece). I've always been secretly jealous that my mom's new luxury car and boyfriend's new luxury car came with the automatic handsfree, through the stereo, push a button and talk system.

I opted to go with this product and am completely satisfied.

Look mom...no hands!"

Solution for non bluetooth radios   05/11/2008
By trukntigger from Effingham, Illinois

What's great about it: Easy setup, good sound, portable from car to car
What's not so great: Need to speak up-handsfree, finding clear fm station

"I own a 2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx. The newer cars from most manufactures use intergrated radios and bluetooth features were not an option on mine. This device solved that whole problem. Charged and then paired it to my LG Cu500- worked flawlessly. Mp3 stereo playback from phone good. Calls are clear. Just clip to visor, press the FM button and match the station it speaks to you. Not clear enough, press again for another channel. Cell calls play callers voice over your car stereo- very clear. My voice to them was good but abit faint, need to "speak up" but they did not hear any ambiant noise from my car while driving nor feedback. Stereo playback of mp3's sounded good. Still need to use phones controls for most of the mp3 players features and to place calls but thats not an issue. ( I speed dial most calls and unit tells you number of incomming calls verbally so you dont need to look at a readout for who's calling). Unit has its own speaker with volume control for both calls and music. It can be set loud enough to distort so I wouldnt max it. Quality okay but much better over the cars FM radio. Paired it with wifes phone (LG Shine) also worked as well as my CU500. Only issues I could see with using this is if you live in a big city with very few "empty" Fm radio stations and constantly seem to be looking for a good channel to use but the unit dose allow you to save upto 4 preffered FM stations to make that easier. I would recommend this as a cost effective option to anyone wanting to stream mp3's and have handsfree when you dont have a bluetooth car stereo- especially newer cars that have intergrated systems like GM which cost ALOT to change to aftermarket systems. (I looked into this option first, very costly due to GM-Lan that intergrates radio) Personally I bought this because I dont want to carry both an Ipod/mp3 device, phone and then a FM adaptor and a blutooth device. This setup alows me to just bring my phone which doubles as my mp3 player and this device for both calls and listening to music. Great cost effective solution! I would give it 5 stars but If they added an external port for a seperate clip mic that you could locate closer to your voice for better pickup that would be perfect. (I'm rather tall and sit far back from sun visor where you clip device too forcing me too speak up abit)"
