Pros: Storyline and the quest adventure is great Cons: I agree that the Death Knight doesn't fit the "Hero Class"
"I've been playing WoW pretty much since it has came out. TBC was a great addition to the game with more epic adventures and storylines to follow. But with the WoTLK the adventures go back to the original world of Azeroth to the continent of Norhtrend. I've played some of beta and I must say it's looking epic so far. The death knight is a great addition although I don't understand really how it makes sense to to add a death knight as a hero class being that they are actually more "evil" than "hero", still will be fun to play around with ;). The zones look great and add plenty of quest with rich lore. The new pvp will be another great addition to all those hardcore pvpers!"

Pros: Unlimited possibilites for game play Cons: Large game size, requires regular game and 2nd expansion
"The expansion promises to be even more epic then the last, adding a ton of new spells, talents, armors, weapons, and areas to explore... including a stronger presence of Phasing technology that changes the entire world as you progress through plot... given more of a sense that you are having epic changes on the world.
10 million players strong, you can't go wrong with this game, wether you prefer to play by yourself, with friends, with a small army of other players, and each class is balenced to ensure a good time, and ensure that they are useful in parties."

Pros: Redoing talent trees, new area to explore Cons: an 'evil' hero class?
"I was surprised by the content added into TBC - level raised from 60 to 70, new zones to level in, 'heroic' dungeons (dungeons that are more difficult than their normal counterparts), a new profession to learn - Jewelcrafting, new flying mounts for level 70's, a new island where you can redo the quests there every day (Isle of Quel'Danas), and additional 'raid dungeons' (Karazhan, Magtheridon's Lair, Black Temple, etc.). I am interested to see what new changes will be introduced into this new expansion pack, and I am also very interested in seeing what Blizzard will do as far as how people will be able to use the flying mounts they obtained in TBC in the new zone offered by WotLK"

"You may read a lengthy rewiew made by a sour critic in this forum. Dont believe everything you read. WotLK does yet again new and revolutionary MMO wins. Im not even in beta but i do know these are facts- One example is the Mamoth mount it seats 3 people and offers an NPC vendor. I am a hunter so i will comment on the revolutionary new pet skills...pets have their own talent trees and specialized attacks, ranging from new dots, snares, roots, etc. WoW is the only MMO to offer up such huge variety for pet owners. I am an engineer and im very excited over the introduction of the Harley Hog Chopper Motorcycle..once again WoW is the win for its mounts. HUGE changes are in store for all classes skills and talent trees. (takes effect 30 days before WotLK releases in a patch). Anyone who says WoW doesnt work on balancing classes, simply doesnt play the game to see what really goes on. Conclusion-Take any review with a grain of salt. If you play the game you KNOW which review has merrit. If you dont play the game, ask a friend who does. If you want the highest game graphics try Conan, its really the state of the art, however the gameplay and bugs make it a terrible game to play. But you could walk around and enjoy the sites if you own a monster computer to run it, and enjoy zone loading screens."

Pros: New Zone, New Story Arcs Cons: Leveling to 80, Price, Untold millions of new patches.
"I'm altogether surprised that almost everyone has put that leveling to 80 is a pro, seeing as that is one of the few things that set WoW apart from the rest of the other MMOs out there. Level cap at 80 was big news....like 2 yrs ago when every other MMO out there wanted to compete with WoW.
Unimpressive graphics have plagued this game for years now. I have played it since the beginning and although i will most likely buy the expansion (only as an alternative to alcohol) to pass my free time, I continue to be disappointed by the outdated graphics. This game gets no more beautiful than when it first came out.
I have played in the beta now for a few weeks and although there are some decent new content changes again it is nothing graphically new. Its like for some reason blizzard wants to make all their other games top notch rendered masterpieces but they figure that with all the droll people sucked into the game already why change now.
Obviously people will buy the same old thing with a different name if you put enough CGI out there but even the trailer movies lack any real content to them.
Even by attending Blizzcon there was no additional content that couldnt be found online at the million plus fan sites and "official" sites out there.
This is not by any means better than Burning Crusade, and infact I would actually call it a lesser version of such. This expansion feels almost as if it should have come before BC but due to bad internal planning was launched afterwards.
By no means do I intend to say that this sucks, because frankly it doesnt, but i wouldnt call it the best that Blizzard has to offer either.
PvP and PvE again sorely unbalanced and the addition of a "new" world pvp zone doesnt change the 40 people standing outside watching.
Talent changes are mostly eye candy as they dont balance the game any more then before but adversely seem to give a few classes that already are considered overpowered an even more so reputation.
Content additions are simply a way to change graphics for classes without having to make Blizzard commit to an entire graphics set change for classes. Which is a true let down for the already graphically nerf'd horde with the horrendous character models of the druids forms. And to top it both sides gain entirely the same new features making it less differentiated then it already is as to the reason for picking horde vs alliance.
The Death Knight class is over hyped as Blizzard has already admitted and is in process to take steps to correct the class's abilities and change the game mechanics around them. Also their extremely dark beginning quest lines seem to paint a bad picture of future "hero classes" if they plan to use it as the template to create all future ones. I can get behind killing some creatures and looting some badies, but they are ransacking defenseless people and homes all in the name of the Lich King who's appearance is over done.
This seems to be an entirely overrated and under planned project that has too many close minded people in the bag. When I hear expansion I tend to look for something new not something that is old with a fresh coat of paint. We call those classics. Ever heard of Pac-man??"

Pros: New continent, lvl cap raised and Death Knights Cons: Another ten lvl's to grind through
"I am not your average World of Warcraft player but I am very excited about this new expainsion coming out. I play WoW on average a couple of nights a week and I dont have a max level character, so once this expainsion comes out, I will not be able to take advantage of all the new features available on the expainsion. Barring my inability to have a high level character, this expainsion will be amazing. I have friends that are in the beta test and they have said nothing but good things about what they are seeing and experiencing. I suggest that anyone that has World of Warcraft pre-order this expainsion now so you can get right into the fight once it hits the shelves. FOR THE HORDE!"

Pros: Compraratively better expansion than Burning Crusade Cons: Trying Warhammer......that game blows horribly...
"Just for the record, I've been playing Warcraft since it's original release. I've been playing Beta and its absolutely ridiculous; I love it to death. They've made major improvements in all classes and talent trees, alot of subtle graphical increases which bring the game a little more up to date. Don't buy into the Warhammer BS, I bought the game played it for like 2-3 days to atleast give it a shot and I want my 49.99 back. The game overall sucks, very shaky engine, constant lag spikes and choppy environment. I run wow maxed out on the highest resolution at roughly 60 FPS and Warhammer barely pushes 35 to 40 with rough pauses and just overall horrible gameplay. I just want to warn those, if you've been spoiled with playing warcraft and burning crusade, Warhammer is a real dissapointment(and the profession system does suck, contrary to common chatter). Get Wotlk...it pwns."

"WoW FunkyBacon you should work for a magazine writing reviews. Or write a book. Man I wished I was able to get into the WOTLK beta. I was in the BC beta and had a lot of fun. As always Blizzard keeps their standards high and that’s why they produce excellent works of art, and unbeatable at what they do. And YES THE GAME IS WORTH 40.00 AND MORE."

Pros: Expands on a quality game, good all around changes and updates. Will play well on even mediocre PCs. Cons: Priced high for an expansion
"I've been playing WoW since early 2005. I've taken a couple months off from it here and there, but I'm always one to come back. This time around I've also gotten into the Beta for the expansion, and have spent some time tinkering around with it.
First and foremost, $40 is more money than any other expansion of ANY game to date with the exception of WoW's previous expansion, Burning Crusade, which also went for $40. Is it a ripoff? That largely depends on how much of a fanboy you are. The game's greatest fans will tell you it's worth every penny. The game's haters will point to it as the ultimate expression of greed. The bottom line though, is that enough people will pony up the cash that they won't be bringing the price down anytime soon, and present players will be faced with the choice of paying up, getting left behind, or leaving the game. I'm positive the majority of them will be paying up.
Graphics wise this isn't the cutting edge of technology. Contrary to all the 5 star graphics/sound ratings people seem to be giving this game, if gorgeous amounts of high quality visuals are the be all and end all for a game for you, there are plenty of other MMOs out there that LOOK much better than WoW.
WoW uses far less polygons than most other MMO's out there, but they make up for that with detailed textures (the paint on the polygons if you will) and SUPERB animation. The end result is a game that runs smooth and seamless on even some of the barest bones of computers out there, while the other MMO guys toting their high tech graphics need to have their games played on more recent and expensive machines, and often, the quality of animation in their games can be somewhat lacking.
That said, Blizzard is doing some updates to their graphics engine this time around. I've noticed in the BETA that they've started to play around with the facial textures of characters to bring them a little closer to 2008 (though these changes are far from done), and the new continent certainly seems to be more detailed than earlier parts of the game.
Sound wise, the game is good. The music isn't going to give you goosebumps very often, but it's more than adequate to set the mood. Early on, the theme composed for one of the starting zones in the new continent, Howling Fjord has a stirring bagpipe harmony to it that I think several people will find enjoyable. Gameplay is one of the reasons WoW is top dog in the MMO market.
The combat system is simplistic and accessible enough to get a handle on early, but with enough complexity and customization available to keep the twitch kids happy enough to keep playing later on.
The questing for the most part is your standard "kill 10 of these" "go talk to that person" "fetch me 5 of those" but in recent years Blizzard has made an honest effort to mix in some different sorts of quests that aren't your standard fare to help mix things up a bit.
If your primary concern is going to be getting to lvl 80 as fast as you can, be prepared for a nice, long grind fest. If you're more the type of person who wants to enjoy yourself while stopping to smell the roses from time to time, you might not be one of the first 20 people to hit max level on your server, but chances are you'll enjoy yourself a little more on your way there.
Lastly, there have been some nice additions put into this expansion. One of my favorites is a new outdoor PVP area where players can pilot siege engines and aircraft with the objective of breaking down a fortress's walls to gain entry and capture it from the side that's holding it. Not a bad change from the standard battleground format the game has become known for.
The new Death Knight class is interesting to play, but is still being balanced at this time (in other words nerfed) to make it a little less powerful.
I would probably bore you to death going over every planned change and addition to the game, but suffice to say that the majority of the new features shown on their lich king site are being implemented as advertised. In conclusion, for existing players of the game, while the price tag for this expansion is on the high side, the changes and additions are significant enough that most people will be buying it up. If the release of the previous expansion was any indication, you'll only be able to get the expansion through boxed versions from retailers like Best Buy and other game stores for the first couple of weeks and then it will become available for direct download.
While I haven't seen an announcement yet, I would imagine Blizzard will have out some kind of boxed set including the original game and both expansions on store shelves hopefully by xmas for those new to the game."
