Overall I would recommend this A/C. I would say that it's better for a smaller room or area. It cools a larger room or area but not as well as a smaller room or area.

Hello,
if you are thinking about purchasing this AC, then look no further. It is a great deal and works amazingly well. Cools my entire room in 15 mins and entire apt in one hour (maximum settings) My AC's top rail came a little dented so i had to take pliers and fix it, but it was nothing major to garner 4 stars. The Ac runs very well and makes noise as expected. for the price you're paying, you will not get a quiet AC, but it is quiet on low and gets louder as you increase the fan speed. Hope you enjoy this AC as much as I am.

What's great about it: Fairly quiet, clean, easy to install, energy saver mode, sleep mode, remote control, cools rooms FAST!
What's not so great: Cord could be a bit longer - really nothing bad at all about this machine!
Outstanding unit and incredibly easy to install. I bought it because of the many great reviews here and believe me, I did my research across the internet before buying a unit. This is perfect for a bedroom, office, or average size room. Cools very quickly and has tons of features. It's also Energy Star, so it saves on electricity. 6,000 BTUs is far better than 5,000! Go for this unit, and Best Buy often puts it on sale to save a few dollars for you.

What's great about it: Cools well, many useful features
What's not so great: Only had it a few weeks, so we'll see
I bought 2 of these units -- both had defects (one was dented, the other was missing parts). Quite annoying. I returned them (no hassles) and bought two more. They were fine. The unit was pretty easy to install -- not light, mind you, but manageable. I like the digital read out and energy saver feature. I don't use many of the other features, but they seem pretty intuitive. It cools and dehumidifies well. I don't live in the hottest place (outside Boston), but it cools a hot room (a third floor attic bedroom). As for the noise -- it's in my bedroom and doesn't bother me while I sleep (even though it cycles on and off throughout the night in the energy saver mode). That's all I care about. It's certainly not noiseless . . . but perhaps other units are louder. In any case, I consider it a good buy so far. It -- or a closely related model -- got a good write-up in Consumer Reports recently. That's why I purchased it. I'm pleased.

As I type this, I am freezing in my 11x13 bedroom. This unit is fantastic!
I bought it primarily for the low price, but considering the great reviews, it was a really great deal!
The unit cools my room in about 15-20 minutes, and starts to get unbearably cold in about 45.
I love the timer feature. You can set a time for the unit to power on or a time for it to power off. In fact, learning how to use this time helped me discover that my other AC units have the same timer capabilities, a useful feature!
Also love the Auto Fan feature. It adjusts the fan speed according to the temp in the room. Pretty nifty. Paired with the Energy Saver mode, I'm comfortable leaving this unit on all night, while I sleep. Speaking of which, there is also a Sleep Mode, in which the unit increases the set temperature by 4 degrees over 7 hours.
My only complaint is that this unit works a little too well, making my small bedroom almost unbearably cold. Also, it fits a little awkwardly in my window, but I do have a piece of wood underneath it to protect the window lip, so that might be my fault. All in all, I am content. I got a great unit for a great price!

What's not so great: Have not found anything.
Our central air started acting up and was causing problems. Had a back up 14000 Btu Frigidaire for a home day care because of heavy traffic, but it only took care of a few rooms. Read reviews of window units and when I bought this unit for my bed room (17.5x17.5) I made use of reviews by using the packing foam to insure quietness. This unit does not make noise and dose a jam up job of cooling.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The air conditioner in my daughter's bedroom died unexpectedly. Some quick research suggested this unit was a good choice for the money. I was surprised how easliy it installed. The room cooled down quickly and completely. We're very pleased with the purchase.

What's great about it: does cool things off some
What's not so great: Compressor is VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY (mounted in a frame wall)
Right price. Install was average. cools things off fine in a small room.
Couple of fatal issues though:
The air director rattled excessively. Wasn't hard to fix, but shouldn't have needed to be repaired. The folks that designed/built this device saved .000001 cents/unit by leaving out the little bits of sponge foam that I placed in the retainer ends.
Now for the biggie - THIS UNIT VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY.
Compressors must be mounted on rubber isolation mounts. This device's compressor is bolted directly to the cabinet.
(Not looking, pre-purchase, is my fault.)

I live in a mobile home and was looking for a unit to cool down the two front rooms of my house, which totals about 260 sq.ft. I am a person that gets cold very easily and was looking for a unit that would do about 200 sq.ft. because I knew that it would be just cool enough for me. It was very easy to install and just took me, 5'4", to install it. I just needed the help of a friend, who had a drill, to put some screws in it to secure it to the wall. I like that you can set the temperature, it has a sleep mode, and that it has 3 fan speeds; most units this size only have 2! So far, I have had a few 90+ days, and it has kept the house cool enough for me and my pet. Good buy for the price!

What's great about it: Simplicity. Simple to operate.
What's not so great: Suggish in temps 98+
Not a Chiller. Takes all night long to cool my bedroom to be fairly comfortable. Average cool....not what I would call "COOL". in this extremely hot Texas heat. This unit will great if not better in any other area except west Texas. West texas is extremely TOO HOT for a average sized room for a unit this size to super chill above average cool. Temps here ranges 98 plus druning the days and 82 plus (lows) during the nights during the summer months. If you don't live in west Texas this unit would be GREAT for you.

What's great about it: Easy installation, reasonable price
What's not so great: Average cooling ability
We bought two of these units for our upstairs bedrooms, which are part of a dormer. The duct work to the upstairs was poorly planned resulting in the central air not quite reaching us. So it was HOT! The installation was straight forward and easy. The units are relatively quiet. However, I will say that they don't make the rooms cold. They take out the humidity nicely and make it comfortable though. Prior to buying, I measured both rooms to make sure we didn't under or over do the BTU's. So, I'm not quite sure as to why they're not cooling well, even though they seem to run non-stop.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

2DAY IN CLT IT IS 91 DEGREES FEEL LIKE 95 DEGREES. AND I CANT KEEP THIS THING ON FOR OVER FIVE MIN W/OUT IT GETTING TOOOOO COLD. GOT IT IN A 10X15 ROOM WITH A 50INCH PLASMA ,IMAC 24INCH,XBOX360,PS3 ,WII, AND THIS THING OVERDOES ITS JOB. WAS GONNA GET A PORTABLE A/C UNIT BUT IM GLAD I DIDNT !!! FOR THA PRICE YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS PRODUCT IF U R TRYIN TO COOL ONE ROOM OR MAYBE 2. WHY ON EARTH PAY MORE!!

1st) It has an extra long power cord which is always nice.
2nd) It is cold, it is 6000 BTU and that is how much it puts out. My room is cold and that is all I need to say.
3rd) This is the most important part of my review..... It is QUIET. The Fan is very quiet on high and amazingly quiet on Low.
The compressor can be heard going on and off but that is no problem. The fan on some models is insanely loud. My old 5000 BTU was louder by far.

What's great about it: this is the quitest unit i have ever heard
read the reviews and went for it am i glad i did i have this unit like 6 inches from my head and with our fan going it cant even be heard. this cools quick too our room is about 18x18 and gets cold in about 30 minutes you cant go wrong here

What's great about it: It's so quiet...you will not hear it outside unless you are 5 ft away! inside, I can record live music with it on!
What's not so great: The upper models have the ability to use "vent, fresh air, or closed" ; This model does not have that.
I cannot stress enough....if it works in New Orleans, it will work anywhere!!"

(I plan to purchase another one for that room, but being single, I mostly sleep on my sofa). That room is large and requires a 12,000 BTU AC...much noisier...and not that much more efficient. After reading the review of the Other Guys I bought the frigidaire and boy am i glad, its super quite and has wonderful features and cools our bed room really quickly. so far is been mild out side but im sure that when our area hits the hot zone till run great!

I read all of the reviews on here before buying a unit. So many other models complained of noise. I am glad I read all of the reviews. This is a great little unit. You hardly hear it outside and inside it is really quiet too.
It pumps out some really cold air fast and I would bet it would cool far more space than it claims too. I put it in an 11x11.5 room but it blows into the hallway and cools the other 10x11 room nicely. If you want a cheap unit that really works great , then don't be afraid to buy this one. It is lightweight and installs easy. I used the packing material to make covers for the fold out panels. I used the cardboard, glued it to the foam packing on top and then upohlstered them with cloth table napkins. It looks great!
