What's great about it: Quality for the price, Viera Link to Panasonic TV What's not so great: Figuring out remote is a bit tricky
"I bought this on sale about a week ago. It didn't take too long to set up. I think the sound is very clear, and the Viera Link to my Panasonic TV is great. I don't have a very large living room, so the 5.1 system works well. I read the previous reviews, so I was aware that the "wireless" speakers are actually wired to a wireless receiver. That is fine with me for where I wanted to place them. I am happy with the system and would recommend it to others as long as you are aware of the limitations ("wireless" speakers, only 1 HDMI input...)."

What's great about it: Easy to assemble What's not so great: It did not work
"After putting everything together, the receiver would not eject the 5 DVD holder. The rear, wireless, surround sound speakers would not work either. My buddy, who has the same exact model, helped me put it together. His worked, mine didn't. Panasonic is a good product, however, I guess I just got a bad one. I ended up exchanging it with a Samsung HT-TZ512 which is about the same price and has more watts (1200 vs 1000.)"

What's great about it: Good, price $329 on sale What's not so great: Wires too short for my small family room, only 9' x 12'
"Though it was a great deal on a brand name. But when I started to set it up the instructions were too vague and the wires for the speakers were too short and my family room is only 9 feet x 12 feet! Panasonic asssumed that the customer would put the wireless reciever in the middle of the rear speakers. I have no where to place the bulky and over sized reciever which is designed only for placing on a table or shelf. Huh? Shouldn't the reciever be wall mountable? My outlets are on either sides of the rooms, so again the wires are way too short this time. I wanted the speaker stands for my rear speakers not the front. I can mount the front speakers to the wall. The stands are made for the front speakers only. You have to pay extra for rear speaker stands. The Subwoofer cable just barely made it to the outside of my television amoire. One of the speakers didn't work and found a bare area in wire--someone at the factory made a mistake...it happens. If you have a tiny room, small television stand, and have an extra shelf with electric outlet nearby to put the wireless reciever this system would be fine for you. But, Watch out, the reciever might fall on you during a loud scene!! You guessed it, this home theater system is going back to the store. I am have better luck with a hard wired system."

What's great about it: Appearance, cost, wireless rear speakers What's not so great: so many labels on the remote control, wish the audio cable was included
"I have not had a stereo for about ten years and anytime I listen to my CD's I do so thru the DVD player system I had or my PC. I had alot of concerns about blowing out my speakers on my TV and didn't like running the TV just to listen to music plus had no radio stations this way. I decided to buy a Sony CD/Radio Stereo system that was just 50 watts. It sounded okay but within a week after buying it I came across this system that obviously is so very much more!!! And it only cost $180 more than the other little device I first bought so the return of the old device and purchase of this was a no brainer.
The best advice I can give is don't set this up until you have time to devote to setting it up and read ALL of the instructions. It is easy to set up but it is very time consuming. I found the manual very clear except in one area.
I really liked how you could allow the AM/FM tuner to scan and set all of your radio stations instead of setting them one by one on your own.
Even after reading the directions clearly on how to opperate the DVD player. It does seem somewhat slow to open and I still can't get it to open just one drive. It wants to open all of them that are empty. This really doesn't matter in the end and is just something new to get used to I suppose and does not affect how it performs. It just takes a little longer to work with than I would like.
I like all of the listening settings this system offers. From Music, Movies, TV, etc. It even has a night mode that you can turn on so that it doesn't get too loud when viewing while others are sleeping or trying to be mindful of neighbors. The subwoffer even has three levels to it.
I think the system sounds great. I have had it for only a few weeks and still need to adjust the rear sound to make it louder. The manual says I can do this but last night when I tried, pushing the "settings" button on the remote did not bring up any menus. I hope this is not a bad remote or something more severe. I will play with again tonight. If I can increase that volume back there then I will be very happy with the sound quality overall. If I cannot then I will feel somewhat dissapointed in it. After all, I bought surround sound 5.1 because I want to feel surround like I do at the movies. (This is why I gave it a 4 star sound rating, if this can be changed then it really deserves a 5 star.)
I also thought that wireless truly meant wireless for the rear speakers and it does not but I am okay with the set up it has. Much better than trying to run wires from the front unit. That would have been a deal breaker.
I just bought the IPOD Nano Chromatic at Thanksgiving and was concerned it was too new for this player but it works great.
Just be warned that if you want to listen to your cable/satellite system thru this system, you need to buy a seperate audio cable. It was only $12.99 at Best Buy for the 3-ft cable but would have liked to have known that upfront and saved myself the extra trip back across town.
It took me years to be able to afford to get a system like this. The price I paid for this system is so very reasonable.
I live in a two bedroom duplex that is about 850 square feet. This system provides plenty of sound for me to hear it very well from any room. (my neighbors may not be so thrilled about that but I try to keep them in mind)
Additionally, my friend bought a system with all of the same basic settings by another brand the same week I bought this one. Hers was $70 less. We weren't sure why at first but once she got it home and set it up, she found that the wireless card that was included with mine, was not included with hers and is an additional expense. Without the card like this one gives, her wireless rear speakers cannot pick up the signal so she has to run wires around the room until she buys the card. So buyers be ware, this system really had everything included for me but the audio cable. (If you have an HD TV than you will need another cable. I am not there yet. That will be the next buy after this has been paid off!) Hers did not and that is why hers cost less upfront but not in the end."

What's great about it: Good sound, easy set up, works well with HD Flat Screen TV What's not so great: IPOD Menu Slower than the IPOD itself, but user friendly
"We were looking for an affordable 5.1 Dolby surround sound system that actually performs well for a modest price. This system has great features and the wireless rear speakers reduce the clutter of having to work wires around the side of the room. The system works well with our compatible Samsung 40" LCD TV and our HD Direct TV system.
The Ipod features include an onscreen menu that is easy to navigate, however it takes a while to get used to the slower format after whizzing through titles on the Ipod as one would normally.
Overall we are very pleased with the sound quality and the ease of use this system affords.

What's great about it: price, easy set up What's not so great: wireless, does not truely mean wireless
"I had actually purchased a BOSE Cinemate originally. I ended up taking that back, because I did not get a really great surround sound quality. This panasonic sounds great. The price even better. The speaker set up was easy, but it states it has wireless rear speakers which are not totally wireless. The remote was a little hard to figure out at first."

What's great about it: Not expensive in comparison, wirless rear speakers What's not so great: Lacks better iPod integration,No custom EQ
"I bought this product because I had the opportunity to hear it a friends house. I first saw this being reviewed on CNET.com They gave it a good rating for the price and quick integration in an all in one system. I like it. Just be prepared to settle for good, but not great sound quality. EXTREMELY easy to set-up. And I like the iPod adapter but it would be nicer if it was not attached to the system(like the Samsung system). Overall, worth the money and Best Buy WILL match any local competitor for a better deal. Can't wait to see what Panasonic come up with next!"

What's great about it: Wireless rear speakers, iPod dock, Controls, Sound Quality What's not so great: dvd/cd tray has minor issues
"Great theater system for the money! Thumbs up for: Easy set-up, excellent sound quality, iPod connectivity/controls, wireless rear speaker operation, 1080p upconversion. Thumbs down for: Really just the poor 5-disc tray quality. Slow loading dvds (esp. home made dvd's), 5-disc tray does not always rotate your dvds/cds, the tray will open for a couple seconds then close automatically leaving you to constanltly reopen to load/change your cds/dvds. The remote keys/wording are somewhat cluttered. Overall: I love this system and have had it over a year. I have mated it with my hd LCD tv and hd cable service. All I can say is that the sound adequately fills my small apartment. I'm sure my neighbors can vouch for me as well!! The ipod dock and controls are seamless, they are made for each other. I really liked this system because of the wireless rear speaker feature. And guess what, it works beautifully. All in all, the positives definitely make me overlook the dvd tray issue."

What's great about it: easy set up, easy menus, Built in ipod tray.. and more What's not so great: Ipod cannot play through HDMI
"This system is very easy to set up. It takes the guess work out of having to figure out how to hide the wiring for the rear speakers.
I think the ipod dock is much better on this system then the other systems I looked at.
overall good product at a nice price. plenty of features to play with and the sound quality is good..
finally I have yet had any issues with the reception of the wireless rear speakers (the wireless receiver is sitting behind my couch)"

What's great about it: Wireless speakers What's not so great: none
"We purchased this home theatre system when we purchased the 50" Insignia plasma flat screen. The sound quality is amazing! When we play video games or watch movies the surround sound is comparable to a movie theatre! I especially love the rear wireless speakers; we have tile flooring and it is nearly impossible to run speakers to the back without showing the wires. The Ipod dock is amazing too, there is alot of great features to this home theatre system."

What's great about it: Fairly easy to install What's not so great: poor rear speaker sound quality, confusing when switching between TV & CD & DVD
"I really like the "wireless" rear speakers, and the DVD/CD drives and the AM/FM radio. That let me eliminate my old sterio system. However, the instructions seem to lack something. Much of the operation of the system is trial and error. My biggest problem seems to be getting the surround sound to come back on when I switch from one mode to another. Don't get a lot of volume from rear speakers. This is my first experience with a home theater system/surround sound so I guess it was okay for me to "learn" on. I would probably tell friends to do their research first!"

What's great about it: Individual speaker volume control, rear wireless painless to set up, ca be controled by other devices What's not so great: Sound quality for music not great. Manual not very helpful. Icons must be figured out on your own
"I had a Sony HTIB before this one and it sucked. Sony is my favorite brand in electronics except audio. I did a lot of research and finally decided to go for this one. The problem I had with the Sony was that my rear speaker were too quite. This one lets me raise the volume of each individual speaker. I have a Sone KDL-40V4100 hooked up to this Home Theater and TV can raise the volume and navigate through menus of this HTIB. Like I said music is not great for some reason it has an iPod docking station that I never use. i really never use the tuners either. I know how music sund because I hooked it up to my computer but cable quality might also improve sound quality. Although the Subwoofer is not powered like my Sony was, it is better. Dialog is clear the subwoofer has three level of power. And many features within the system"

What's great about it: Size, Look, "Wireless" rear speakers What's not so great: Too many functions, Poor sound, NO volume
"I own a Panasonic 52" tv and love it. Then replaced my old DVD with a Panasonic Blu-Ray and think it's the hottest thing since man could create fire. So naturally when my 10 year old RCA theater system needed to be replaced, I wanted to go with a Panasonic. Now I didn't need another DVD player, and don't intend to even plug the video into the tv, but the fact that it played CD's and had a radio meant I could eliminate the old stereo system I had also. My RCA only had 500 watts and I was happy with the sound it used to produce, so I figured the Panasonic with 1000 watts would be twice as good, right? WRONG!!!!! With the Sub boost on and all the settings maxed, the volume has to be almost maxed out(45-50 out of 50) in order to even come close to a theater level experience, and if you want to "shake the house", you just simply CAN'T! My old system would blow the doors off this one if it still worked. I plan on returning this system for the 1250 watt Panasonic instead. Hopefully that will meet my expectations (or am I assuming again?) Bottom line-- If you like to "feel" your movies as well as see them(or maybe even have your ears bleed a little) this is NOT the system for you."

What's great about it: Sound, Price,Ipod Hookup What's not so great: "wireless" i thought really meant "wireless"
"The sound on this is great for a bedroom. I have it hooked up to a Samsung 40" 1080p as well as my other 2 audio sources (Cable,PS3). Although it took me some time setting up the "wireless" speakers because i thought they were really "wireless" but they arent. Its just so you dont run cords from the front of the room to the rear. Its a wireless reciever you plug in the rear and run the rear speaker wires to it in the rear so cords dont run..so after i figured that out and put it on "pro logic movie, or music," it was good. the sound in the rear isnt "great" like the front because its supposed to add the true surround experience but overall im very satisfied.. the sub is good and oh yea the ipod integration is awsome being able to controll it though the remote"
