What's great about it: Monitor looked great, amazing resolution for its size.
What's not so great: I had to return two of them over the same problem.
This was my first LCD and I was very excited to get it. I could use it with my PlayStation 3 and get HD. The resolution for it (1680 x 1050) was a nice touch for this size of monitor. I was able to get 1080p with my PS3 connected to it. It also was very nice looking and the price was amazing!
Almost a month after purchasing something happened to the refresh rate I believe. The picture looked really grayed out and you could see lines across parts of the screen. I returned it for another one and then two weeks after that same issue again. I ended up just returning it again and got a new LCD from another manufacturer.
Overall amazing monitor I just wished it worked.

What's great about it: Quality is great, and for programs the pixellation is ok. Monitor is space saving and moderately easy to use
What's not so great: Touch buttons, refresh rate
First the good news: The monitor is not horrid and does actually offer pretty decent quality for visualization. Its easy to set up (as most monitors are), and does leave a lot of space on the desk.
As for the bad news, here we go: The monitor's refresh rate is NOT as great as it should be, as some of my programs leave a blue shadow behind them. The touch buttons are on the side, which if you have your desk in an enclosure it does not work the greatest. This is one product that, in my humble opinion, is better left on the shelf.

What's great about it: decent size for price
What's not so great: touch buttons are very sensitive
I like this monitor. Got it on sale and it was the last one in the store. LIke it so much I am debating on whether to get another and do dual screens. Would be nice to watch tv on while working on term papers, or research. Screen is very bright, had to adjust down to 30 percent in order to use it. Great monitor and works in ubuntu flawlessly, but what doesnt these days.

What's great about it: Cheap
What's not so great: Cheaply built
I bought one of these for my dad's new computer - was excited about giving him a flat panel. It set up easily, I liked the built-in speakers, and the image was decent. However, none of the function buttons on the right side worked so you couldn't turn it off or adjust settings. I think the buttons are heat-sensitive buttons, not the regular ones that you push. Anyway, i took it back to the store and exchanged it for another one.
The 2nd monitor's buttons worked... for about 2 days, then the same problem. The 2nd monitor had a flicker problem during the screensaver.
I took it back and won't be buying a Westinghouse monitor again. Should have stuck with my guns, like Samsung, etc.

What's great about it: Bright, clear, fast response, excellent viewing angles, great resolution
What's not so great: Touch buttons on the side
Bought this monitor yesterday, connected and it worked great out of the box. Color and screen brightness is outstanding. Resolution is also outstanding. Found it on sale at Best Buy - well worth the extra money over the $10 - $20 less expensive models.
The one caveat: the "touch buttons" on the side. I found out the hard way that they are indeed touch buttons - I adjusted the monitor angle and accidentally touched the right bottom side of the screen, shutting the monitor off. Now that I know, no problem.
Overall a great monitor for home office use (which this is) and I would highly recommend it. Well worth the few extra dollars!

What's great about it: Image Quality, Easy set-up, works with my Mac, runs cool.
What's not so great: The controls are touch-panel areas with small icons on the right hand side of the monitor
Right out of the box, everything went well with this purchase. While style and design are certainly subjective, I found the black frame, black/clear plexi-pedestal and yes, even the illuminated "W" Westinghouse logo at the bottom center quite elegant. For me, the most important thing was the matte or "flat" screen finish. I'm not fond of those high-gloss screens that seem to be all the rage today.
As for the less subjective stuff:
Packaging was very good; the monitor was well protected. Set up was easy and simple; it works great on my old Mac G4 tower. I don't use the built-in speakers, but they sounded adequate when I tried them. The cables were long enough to go from the center of my desk to the tower, which sits on the floor and to the right of my desk. Just long enough.
I found image quality to be amazing for a monitor in this price range. I had no problem calibrating the color on my Mac (more a function of software, but the monitor complied nicely). Since I use the monitor for photo viewing, color rendering and brightness are important to me; I'm quite pleased with the image sharpness and color. The top and back of the monitor remain barely warm to the touch after several hours of operation.
I can find only one downside to this product, and that is the control "buttons", which are really not buttons at all. There are six (6) "touch areas" on the right hand side of the monitor, on the edge. There are no icons or marks on the front of the monitor, so you have no idea what you're touching unless you rotate the monitor or strain to look around to the edge. I "fixed" this problem with a Brother P-Touch label maker, putting icons on the front of the monitor along the right edge. OK., yeah, it "messes up" the esthetics at bit, but it does solve the problem. The whole control issue will probably become less of a problem as you use the monitor, unless you're inclined to do a LOT of fiddling around. The only control I ever really use now is the on/off 'button', and I now instinctively know where that is.
Overall, a great value, and yes, I've recommended it to relatives and friends.
Good luck!

What's great about it: Image quality
What's not so great: Design
To begin, I am a PC Tech, so I look at this product from a standpoint of function and form. If you need something quick, that is relatively inexpensive, with a good to excellent image, this will do the trick. If you are looking for something that you are comfortable with long term, that has a good design and form, forget it.
They did not include a digital video cable. The dirty industry secret is that the markup on cables is outrageous. They are one of the highest profit items in any computer store. Second only to printer ink. So, the cost to have included that cable would have been literally pennies.
The other bad thing about this product is the button design. They are not buttons, but flush touch positions ON THE SIDE. Other than looking, you cannot tell when you are on one of the touch buttons. You have to look on the side, find your selection, touch it, then go back to the front of the LCD to see the display, then stand on the side to find the touch button to select your option, etc. etc. You cannot see what you are trying to push and see the screen display simultaneously.
On the plus side, the image quality for the price of the product cannot be beat by any other offering.
Had I not been in a rush, and had more time to look for other options, I would not have picked this one.

What's not so great: Daughter hasn't found any cons as of yet
Bought and sent to my daughter for her 20th birthday. She loves it.. Says screen is nice and big (19in.) it has a crisp picture, flat screen doesn't take up muuch room like her old monitor. She is very happy with it & said she wouldn't trade it. She would recommend it.

What's not so great: Doesn't work
I bought this for an office computer. The monitor comes on for 1 second and then the screen goes blank. If I turn the power off and then on again, it will come on for another second.
The touch controls on the side are a pain because you can't feel where the buttons are. You have to look around the side to see them, which is not always easy.

What's great about it: Bright, Reliable, Cheap
What's not so great: a little too bright, slightly washed out.
I've always been pleased with my Westinghouse products. This monitor is a good buy. It tends to be a little on the bright side. It looks a little washed out when compared to other monitors, so you will need to tweak settings to get it right. For everyday use, the brightness is great. For graphic design, you will want to compare colors and contrast on another monitor.

What's great about it: high resolution, good contrast, DVI/VGA inputs, built in aspect ratio handling
What's not so great: 60ms max refresh rate, noticable ghosting, the touch-sensitive buttons
My "19" LG monitor died and I was looking for a replacement monitor and got this one when it was on sale for $150 as it was clearly a steal. Its got a higher max resolution than most 19" widescreens which is quite nice and sharp. It has both DVI and VGA inputs which is definitely a nice bonus. I haven't used the speakers since I have my own set, but I'm sure if you just needed some basic sound they would suffice without having to have them separate.
However, as has been noted, it has a few drawbacks. Most notably to me is the horrendous ghosting it has, particularly when gaming and images are moving fast. If there are dark areas moving rapidly on screen, you will clearly see a light area trail behind them that can get disorienting. This is using the DVI connection, not VGA or converting DVI to VGA.
The other minor annoyances are not being able to adjust the angle of the monitor and the touchy buttons on the side you have to use to change settings. Neither of these are much of a problem to me as I don't need to adjust the height of it and I don't alter the settings very frequently, but it should still be taken into consideration.
If I wasn't much of a gamer I would probably give this monitor a 4 or a 5 for the value of it. But, to me, the ghosting can be very distracting and is definitely a major factor in me rating it 3 stars and not higher. My previous LG monitor had a 5ms response time and there was no ghosting with it at all that I ever noticed, although it had a 75Hz refresh rate instead of 60Hz, maybe that had something to do with it.
I checked 'No' on recommending it, but it really could go either way. If you just need a nice monitor for surfing web, movies or running applications then this monitor will do the job nicely. But if you plan on playing fast paced games you'll have to deal with the ghosting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Ease of set up, great picture.
What's not so great: The control buttons take some getting used to.
I bought this monitor on sale to replace an aging CRT. For the sale price of $180, there is nothing to complain about. I have not experienced the ghosting mentioned in other reviews though I am using the VGA cable, not DVI. The picture quality is fantasitc!! I run mine in the economy brighness mode and have had no problems at all. Text is clear and not smeared, I have tons of area to keep open windows, and it works great in both XP and Vista (dual boot setup).
As noted by others, the buttons can be a pain, but once set up, I don't bother with them. They can take some getting used to but I don't have any major heart burn over them. I don't use the built in speakers as I have a surround sound system so I don't use the buttons to adjust volume.
All in all, I think it's a great monitor, especially at the 1680X1024 resoulution. Hands down better than the usual 1440X900 of most 19" monitors.
