I have had this monitor for 2 weeks. This is a great High Definition Monitor, nice work Samsung. I red all the review before I bought it. All good things that other reviewers wrote are true so I’m not going to write about them again. I am posting this review to clarify some previous reviews that worried me before I bought it. It turned out they were wrong so I wanted future buyers to have no doubt before they buy it.
1. You can watch HDTV or Standard/traditional Definition TV from your HD Box or Standard Box, and you can connect your Box to this monitor directly – you don’t need to go through your computer first (a salesperson at CircuitCity did not even know this, so I did not buy it there).
2. If you have HD Box with HDMI connection (this is my case so I can comment on it) this monitor will show the full 1080p (the highest possible definition for HDTVs nowadays 07/31/2008) without any shrinking/widening or cutting-any-edges-off issues. I called the cable company and a tech support person (don’t waist your time with a regular customer support) talked me through the steps (very simple steps). It also happened that my HD Box recognized this monitor and adjusted to it automatically even before I called the cable company but I just wasn’t sure so I called anyway. Of course, if your cable company sends the signal that is less than 1080p (for example 1080i or below) you will be able to watch only as good as they broadcast it. However, any HD signal (1080p or lower) I get from my cable company looks really nice on this monitor, and I watch it daily. Also, you can watch this monitor from extreme wide angles. I was really surprised with it (even 180). It has a great 5 ms respond time (today 8 ms is considered very good in HDTV) so nothing is too fast for it, and a great 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast (again in today’s HDTVs 8,000:1 is considered great) so the colors are really great, too.
3. You can also watch the full 1080p from your HD DVD or Blu-Ray player. I don’t play games so I cannot comment on that.
4. When you watch HDTV on it and you use HDMI cable you get only one level of volume (a comfortable level) which you cannot adjust at the monitor, and in my case I cannot adjust it at the HD Box either. The solution for this was to plug in at the back of the monitor my external computer speakers. That automatically turned off the speakers on this monitor and the one I plugged in started working. Than I could adjust the volume on my plugged in speakers. Note: the speakers that are built-in to this monitor are just simple computer speakers – do not expect a home theater system performance.
5. There are no issues with any of the features that this monitor can do (like automatically recognizing that you turned it 90 degrees around). You just have to install the software that came with it and I highly recommend it as there are some cool display features which are very useful when you are switching from a computer to HD Box.
6. The touch keys (like Power, Menu, etc.) work great. In dark you will not see them but if there is light in your room there is no problem.
What's great about it: Great HD Monitor
What's not so great: Only one HDMI and no Component connection

This Monitor overall is totally awesome! Price not too bad for a 24 inch with 5ms response, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and 1080P Blueray support. amazing picture! Going from VGA to DVI is like night and day. Bought this screen for my gaming Rig; Intel Quad Q9450, MSI X48C Platinum Motherboard, OCZ 1600MHZ Memory at 4gb, ATI Radeon HD3870 OC(X2 for Crossfire). It works great! I recommend this monitor for any kind of operation from gaming, to video editig,.. to webpage design..it will do it all.
Cons: The sensor buttons on the bottom of the monitor are cool and they work when you touch them. Unforunately the Icons to represent the controls are not visible at all! you pretty much have to guess where to touch to adjust the screen size, brightness, contrast.. etc..
So Overall this monitor is totally awesome and I would buy another one if I had the funds.
What's great about it: Great Picture, plenty of screen options, DVA,VGA, and HDMI with audio on the Monitor! Samsung quality and reputation
What's not so great: The touch screen sensor buttons on the bottom of the monitor suck!

I had been searching for a 24" monitor for a while, specifically wanting the 1920x1200 resolution that comes with them. Found this one at Best Buy, purchased it online, and a few days later when it arrived, connected it. Everything worked fine, haven't seen any dead pixels yet, and have seen a big increase in productivity with the extra screen space. The only real gripe I have is that I can't get the rotation software working for Mac, so any time I want to rotate the monitor, I have to do it manually from the displays menu. Not a huge deal considering I rotate it maybe once a week max. Overall, I'm very happy with it.
What's great about it: Size, connections, adjustments
What's not so great: software

This screen was on sale so I thought we'd upgrade. I love the large screen......if I were a gamer. I work from home and the screen tends to give me a headache because it is just too big. I will be taking it back for a 19-22 inch. I am bummed though because this is a nice monitor, but too much to look at all day for work.
What's great about it: HUGE, quick response, good color
What's not so great: HUGE :), could be clearer

I'd say I'm fairly technological savvy and this is one of the best monitors I've seen for one of the best prices. Again, I'm fairly tech savvy but I had a '90s tube monitor up till new years '08 and then I got this flatscreen. It was a big upgrade if you're like me and spent years putting off getting a new model monitor. It's big but not bulky, if you get me. It's always cool to lean back and still be able to read the text or be able to watch a movie from the other side of the room and still be able to see what's going on.
If you need a good HD monitor that has the basic functions (you read your e-mail, watch some videos, view pictures), this will be more than satisfactory. Just pefect.
What's great about it: big for cheap, adjustable
What's not so great: nothing I can think of

Great buy. Really good contrast while playing games on computer and a 360*.
*Note: If you are using this moniter to plug in a Xbox360 using HDMI. The console will oput a little wierd to the screen where part of the screen will be blank with a color. To fix this, go to the moniter menu, then find the reset option and say yes. Once it resets, the blank area will go away but the image will not be centered. So after you have done that, turn off the moniter and then turn it back on and it should center itself.
What's great about it: 24" widescreen, big improvement from a 17", in 1080p. Works great with Xbox360 (HDMI) and my computer (DVI)
What's not so great: None (other than it took some extra steps to get my Xbox360 to work with the screen)

This screan is great for all gamers, its fast and it has an awsome picture. I myself love to game, so its an up for me. The touch sensitive buttons work great, you don't have to push on them ever. I addition to that, the speakers sound pretty good too. Unlike other samsungs however it isn't Super Fast like some and it isn't an amazing picture like others , but its still great. I highly recomend this to anyone who cares about this kind of stuff.
What's great about it: HDMI, built in speakers, touch sensitive buttons.
What's not so great: Not as good quality picture as other samsungs.

This is to inform anyone wanting to use this monitor for PS3 or Bluray. It does not do 1080P. It always stretches the image, so you have a choice of either getting a narrow aspect image (squeezing), or a normal aspect image with parts of the image cropped off the screen. That's right, the left/right/up/down extents of the 1080P image will be cropped off. Other than that it does make an excellent computer monitor, just don't think you can use it as an 1080P HDTV monitor.
What's great about it: Bright Picture
What's not so great: Does not do 1080P

Despite my searing criticism of Samsung's decision to use touch sensitive buttons for the On Screen Display controls; I wholly and entirely did enjoy my time with this display. As a zealous advocate of dual monitors, I will admit defeat, my time with Samsung's SyncMaster 2493HM has crumbled my resentment of single monitor solutions- that is unless Samsung decides to send me two displays to play with next time!
What's great about it: HDMI, 24 Inch, Picture Quality, Build in Speakers,
What's not so great: No HDMI Cables
