What's great about it: 25.5" of superior visual quality, Versatile controls, sturdy base.
What's not so great: Heat. Like all LCD's, this one throws off a good bit compared to my old CRT or smaller LCDs.

"Wasn't planning to purchase this particular model when I went into the store that day, but the one I wanted...the 24"...was on back order. This one happened to be on sale for the same price, however, so I was skeptical at first. But I bought it anyway.
Setup was a breeze. Just open the box, take out the loose items, turn the box gently on it's head and slide the box off. The stand is already prepped to receive the base, just line it up and tighten the nut by hand...no tools needed.
Monitor is bright and crisp. I play games, and this monitor produced no ghosting at its native resolution. The details of the graphics were also very good, and my video card was not straining at all with the settings maxed at the native resolution. I am also doing a lot of writing in school, and office apps text is crisp as well, no noticed blurring, and the fact you can view two docs side by side is great.
At work I use a 24" Dell, and this monitor smokes the Dell in every way. Besides being 1.5" larger, this monitor also far outperforms the Dell in rendering video, imagery and text. This is simply a better monitor all around."

Great monitor!   08/06/2008
By ShadowAnvil

What's great about it: Size, contrast, brighness
What's not so great: Hard to get the reds right

"Overall, I love this monitor. NO dead pixels, no ghosting or anything like that.
The only issue I have right now is that the reds are too bright. I just need to take some time and adjust.
Highly recommended."

What's great about it: No dead pixels, 1.5" larger than 24" display
What's not so great: No DVI cable included

"I compared monitors at the Best Buy in Bangor, ME. The only unit on display larger than 24" was the Hannsspree 28." So I compared the LG 2452, Samsung 2493, and the Gateway FHD2400. The Samsung's image really didn't impress me while the Gateway had very sharp text. The only problem (at least in my opinion) was that the Gateway was *too* dark. The LG was sort of in the middle of the Samsung & Gateway--better image quality than the former but text was not as sharp as the latter. Well, that was the 24" units. Based on that info I decided to purchase the LG 26" (25.5 actual) display and I'm glad I did. My first concern was dead pixels, so I was delighted to see the one I received had no dead pixels. The controls can see rather complex and sensitive, but you get used to them (took me about an hour). You can set by color temp or individually adjust red, green and blue. In addition to the typical brightness and contrast controls, sharpness and gamma can also be adjusted as well as the OSD position (horiz & vert). So there's a lot of customization available. One point of note--if you have the display up close the corners can seem to have a pinkish hue. I found that moving the display back on my desk alleviated this "problem." You have to remember this is a *large* display and you need to view it at a longer distance than a 20" (like my previous BenQ) or 22" unit. A 2.5-3.0 ft viewing distance seems to be about right. As with any computer display, you need to adjust it from the factory settings which are typically too bright. My only gripe was that it did not come with a DVI cable. I called LG customer service and they said the W2600s sold in the US are not shipped with a DVI cable. So I ordered a 10 ft Link Depot cable from Newegg.com."

Great monitor   04/20/2008
By Prophotographer from La

What's great about it: Size, picture, color
What's not so great: Found none yet

"For the price this monitor wins hands down. Gives me enough room to edit my videos and photos with ease. Once color was calibrated the pictures I get back from the lab are perfect. I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for more room on their desktop."

Easy on the eyes   04/07/2008
By Anonymous Reviewer from CT

What's great about it: size, uniformity, rendition
What's not so great: no hdmi input

"I bought an HP 24" that made my eyes hurt (polished screen and dated TN screen), but took it back the next morning courtesy of BB's return policy. I bought the LG for $50 more on sale. Considered a Samsung or Dell 24", which had more inputs, but the LG's size and excellent picture won the day.
The size is easy on the eyes. The screen is large and bright, and my Dell D620 drives the DVI with ease. Though there is no HDMI in, a $15 converter cable can do that trick if needed (I tested it). A little warm at the vent on top, but I wouldn't say hot - just warm.
Nicely uniform screen, with bright and excellent colors. I code on this display, and the productivity with the higher resolution will pay for itself in a few weeks. Video quality is very high over the DVI-D cable. Progress in displays is astounding. I replaced a 4-year old, 1600x1200 Planar that cost me $1,000 with this monitor for half the price. Brighter, sharper, bigger, more resolution. I wonder what another four years will bring? OLED?"

Sam VS LG   04/04/2008
By Kebb from Seattle

What's great about it: Heat source for my cold room, auto scaling, USB connection, etc
What's not so great: $50 pricier than Samsung's 2693 HM, no DVI cable

"If you want to future proof your set up with an eye towards blu ray later, the required handshake between a video card and display units is a must, both have to be HDCP compliant. Samsung's 2693HM does not support HDCP while this baby does. Although the first LG that I bought did have a stuck pixel but Bestbuy's liberal return policy took care of that. I replaced it with the same unit."

Great monitor   04/03/2008
By utahreviewer from SLC, UT

What's great about it: SIZE, performance, features, price.
What's not so great: Runs warm, audible beeps on turning on and off, lack of DVI cable, button configuration

"Great video, big.. go figure its 26", amd I agree with everyones review of it so far to date. And the (sort of) in the floridas review is correct. When I opened the box I always inventory everything. And noted this as missing, the fine print in the manual states something to the effect of "not avaliable everywhere" I guess that means america??? Anyway a geeksquad rep fixed that for me. The monitor also plays a little tune when you power it on and off, and so be it that it is a quiet tune, it has awaken my 2 year old while naping on our bed a few feet away. The other thing I do not like is the front buttons which are not really buttons at all, if you just touch the bar across the bottom, even if just wiping it off, it senses the touchs and changes, I accidently hit the "source" button when attempting to turn on a external drive on occasion. Takes about 5 seconds to default back to the computer input. I still give it 4 stars since my desk top is a little cramped and it contributs to the accidental button presses. Still its a great monitor and I am glad I upgraded."

Excellent value and quality   04/01/2008
By pupfan27

What's great about it: Great image quality, USB hub, NO DEAD PIXELS!
What's not so great: No DVI cable included

"I was torn between this monitor and the 26" Samsung. I purchased the Samsung first, and had problems with dead pixels. Best Buy quickly exchanged it for me, and I ended up with the same problems on the second screen. That was it, and I went ahead and purchased this LG instead.

Very glad I did. This has fantastic image quality that I could not distinguish from the Samsung. The controls are very user friendly, and there's a couple of nice touches, such as a built in USB hub and cable-holder on the back of the stand. Calibration was a snap using the Spyder-2 Express software (not included).

This is a very attractive monitor, and the viewing angle is more than adequate. It doesn't have built in speakers, but who really uses speakers on a monitor anyway? There's no DVI cable included, so you'll need to purchase that separately.

I was extremely pleased to find NO DEAD PIXELS on the screen, after having that problem twice with the Samsung. Hopefully this screen holds up, but it comes with a 3 year warranty and appears to be very high quality."

Really good monitor for the price   03/25/2008
By ReviewedinFlorida from Florida

What's great about it: The Price, Size, Contrast Ratio, Manufacturer's Warranty and manuverabilty (height, angle)
What's not so great: HDMI connection would be nice. My did not come with a DVI cable, although the manual says it should have (sort of).

"This monitor has a very bright picture. At the store display, this one really stood out.
The three year warranty was the best of any brand on the shelf."
