"This has to be the best TV I've ever had! It has great picture and sound quality, some of the best I've experienced. Hook a Blu-Ray player up to this with an HDMI cord, and you get some astounding movies that will blow your mind. BUY THIS!"

"I have been researching for over a month now was looking 85 & 80 until I saw the Pioneer KURO and the 800U side by side. Color on the 800U outperformed the Pioneer and the 800U had blacks that were a very-very close 2nd to the Pioneer. So for the features available and almost 2k cheaper pick this TV you won’t be disappointed and it’s rated as the best choice overall by CNET.com. The hardest thing is I bought this as a family Christmas present and won’t be delivered or hooked up until 12/25/08. Can’t wait to get rid of my 720p 4x3 format HDTV and hook up a Blu-Ray to this unit. Great Price and a free stand also."

"I own a Home Theater company and have seen just about every Plasma and LCD TV on the market. This is the one that I chose for my personal TV. Picture quality is amazing right out of the box. The Pioneer elite may be marginally better, but the Panasonic is 1/3 the price. I installed this set for a customer last week and decided to buy one for myself. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this set."

"I shopped around for months and finally decided to purchase this TV a few months back. Out of the box the TV's picture is amazing, but with some personalized tweaks and adjustments, the picture is as good as any plasma on the market (not made by Pioneer). The THX mode for all viewing and be extremely happy. DVD's and Blu-Ray discs on this set are unreal. My 360 looks terrific on this set and there is no picture lag at all. Highly recommend this TV to anyone looking to jump into the plasma TV market. You will not be disappointed."

"I spent a lot of time researching TV's, and after returning a 58-inch Samsung earlier this year, settled on this Panasonic. CNET rates it as the best TV it's ever reviewed, and they are absolutely right. This set is amazing. The picture is fantastic: true colors, not too red, not too green. Skin tones are accurate, and the clarity is amazing. I highly recommend this TV."

What's great about it: Picture and sound, what else is there?
What's not so great: Could use a lighted remote.

"I thought that I wanted the the TH-50PZ850U, but only two stores in the state carried that model. I compared models side by side and the reviews on the picture quality of the Panasonic 1080P 50" sets were all good, but the sound quality was not rated as high on the 80U and the 85U. Actually I have no idea what a Passive radiator, Woofer x 2 (L,R)/23mm-slimSpeaker x 2 (L,R) means, but I do see that the 800U has the same higher end speaker system as the more expensive 850U. I play Blu-ray and regular DVD's through my set and the sound is crisp and clear and the base is terrific. Then there is my local Best Buy store. I had been watching for this model to go on sale and when it did, I bought it a month ago. Then I looked on the Best Buy web site and they sale priced it even more. I went back to the store with my sales slip and they refunded the difference to me no questions asked. How could I not recommend them and this TV? I only gave the TV 4 stars for features because more than once I've had the remote upside down in a dark room. I do like the remote's large buttons for volume and channels. It was easier to set up and understand than some of the other TVs in the house. I am well satisfied and think that this TV is a great buy at its current price."

"I have had this tv for 3 months now and could not be happier with the purchase i have made. I have been watching a lot of Blu-Ray movies with my PS3 and the true colors and deep blacks are astounding! I also had to get an HD receiver for my new TV, because anything less than HD is not worth watching anymore! I have been getting a lot of compliments on how crisp the image looks and on how you can see every detail on a persons face when watching blu-ray movies! Even my girlfriend who didn't want me to get the tv cuz she wants me to save up money for something else (*ring*) loves the TV now!!! You will not regret your decision with this tv, i recommend it completely to anyone looking for a great HDTV. So do yourself a favor if your looking for a new TV get this one! CNET rated this tv above Panasonics newest model the 850 series which is "supposed" to be better than this tv the 800 series!"

"After very careful research,reading all the reviews,I singled this model out in the store,which was already hooked up to a BR DVD player/Klipsch home theater speakers. I must say,this TV is everything it is cracked up to be and more. Watching live Nascar races,NFL or any other fast paced sports is the ultimate experience. Looks and sounds like you are "there" in the action!! What else could anyone want? The detail is so fine on the people's faces,it is incredible! WARNING: Once you experience this TV,you'll throw rocks at analog displays!"

"As expected, even proven by experts plasma ,shows the best picture period, and im no expert, but i have the eye, no matter if you like lcd. This tv gives you the True to life, straight out the window with your own eye look, Unlike the lcd which dishes the bright artificial realism look. Samsung a750 lcd comes close but still falls short on blacks. No fuzziness like lcd, no motion blurrrrr, no change in picture from every angle. not overly bright where it messes with your eyes. Seeing is believing at home when your viewing in 1080 hd. A BAD A** tv, this is your best buy period."

Great picture out of the box 06/16/2008

"After going through 3 Sharps and 2 Samsungs, I 'settled' on a plasma because I was tired of the banding, flashlights, purple haze and other problems that seem to be inherent to LCDs. Now I am glad I did. One of the things that irks me about HDTVs is the fact that in order to get the best picture, you have to shell out another $300 for professional calibration. With the THX mode on this tv, you can take it out of the box and enjoy a superb picture with little or no calibration. The black levels are great,giving the picture a real sense of depth and the colors are spot on. A ketchup bottle looks like ketchup and not red paint. The screen is a little reflective, but the glare can be accounted for by rotating the tv on its base. The speed with which the tv switches between inputs is much faster than other sets I have owned. It's also great not having any pixelation with fast moving images. LCDs produce a attention grabbing picture, but when you really get down to it, its much more cartoonish than real. Thisplasma produces a picture you could walk into."

"I was in the market for an HDTV, plasma or lcd, I first bought the Samsung LN46A650 but I returned because it had software issues and the screen had some clouding(thats common on lcd's) then I decided to go with the panasonic because of reliability and the picture quality that previous panasonic's have had. I know that the pioneer that will be coming out will probably be better but also ridiculously more expensive too. If you want one the best picture qualities available without breaking the bank this tv is it."

"My husband and I purchased this plasma to replace our old 1993 Sharp 32". We read about the older generation model in CR (700U) that easily placed it as one of the best plasma's on the market. We decided to wait for this generation model for the extra HDMI hookups. My husband is an avid gamer and between our surround sound, dvd player and our satellite receiver, we needed more ports for his PS3. As you can tell, we don't go out and buy things just for the heck of it. We researched, waited, and grabbed this model. We can't be more pleased with our purchase. Now to get a smaller one for my husband's man cave."

Best Purchase for my home ever 04/23/2008

"My wife and I decided to buy a plasma TV a few months ago. When I did the research, this particular TV had the best sound of any on the market. I had already saw the picture which was stunning to say the least. Then I was lucky enough to see the picture with a Blue-Ray was played through it. That was the exact moment I decided on this particular TV. Since having this installed on my wall I have nothing but compliments and non stop phone calls from my friends to watch all of the games. I had people over for the Superbowl, March Madness, & the BSC bowl games. In addition, my wife has her friends over all the time to watch movies. All I hear now during the movie is "look at that picture". I could probably run for president right now because of how popular I am with all of my friends. It's funny how a great TV can do that. I highly recommend this TV and do not forget the Blue Ray player."
