This camera was very good. I would recommend it. And of course Best Buy has the best price, right? Agreed? Yes, of course, you shouldn't even look anywhere else. Really, just don't look, OK? There's no need because other places just don't have it at a cheaper price. Really. Just buy it at BB and you will be satisfied.
Anyway, this camera has way better picture quality than any flash or HD cameras out there. So you can only download the tapes to your computer in real time. That's the price you pay for quality! Plus the HDMI connection and remote control make the camera super convenient even if you are not that into video editing.
What's great about it: Ease of Use, rich functions
What's not so great: The Price Here

Overall this camera is almost as good as my two thousand dollar sony professional High Def camera but in a smaller size. I saw several people complain about the lack of a hard drive on this model but in reality you get better video shooting onto tape a hard drive compresses your video so you loose a slight amount of quality. The only draw back for me was the night shot only has a range of about 10-15 feet but by adding an IR light to the camera I easily solved this problem. I've used several differant brands of cameras in my line of work and Sony has allways been one of the most reliable brands. You may find cameras cheaper but not many better at the price.
What's great about it: great picture in both HD and standard format
What's not so great: nightshot has very short range
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall it is a very good camera with great video quality.The only negative is the miniDV.I sometimes wish I had got one with a hard drive or dvd.
What's great about it: Quality of video,easy to use
What's not so great: Storage medium

After much looking and study, I discovered the best way to download a video file to a Mac is from minidv. I checked the literature and found this cam to be compatible with Mac computers. However, once I received the cam and shot some video footage, I discovered that only still images may be downloaded to a Mac, not video. So, once again I have a cam that is useless to me.
What's great about it: Many fine features
What's not so great: Video not compatible with Mac

I bought this camera to use with Final Cut Express 4 HD, when I went to import video,FCE did not communicate with this camera. When you record in HD ,it is in the format MPEG 2 and FCE will not be able to read this format. You have to import it through I-movie first then import the file to FCE. What really gets me is both the camera and program say "HD", and it is not a Hard Drive type camera,being mini dv format and not working with FCE? Read all fine print.
What's great about it: Powerhouse
What's not so great: NOT FOR FINAL CUT EXPRESS 4 "HD"

This is a great HD Camcorder ..With its easy touch screen its always easier to access stuff and with the HD its makes video look way way way better..its like the one of those camera that hollywood people use ..

I researched a few camcorders before making my purchase and finally settled on this one. I'm glad I waited. The picture quality is excellent. Plus I can play back recorded material on my HD televisions. Not to mention record while plugged into my laptop. from now on I'll only buy sony camcorders.
What's great about it: everything!!
What's not so great: None.

just letting you know fyi, the information bestbuy puts on their website is correct. the sensor on the cmos is 3.2 mp which will produce a 6.1 mp still. the megapixel on the sensor does not tell you the mp of your still but you can always assume it is going to be double. ex..5 mp sensor on sony sr11 will produce 10 mp shot

Actually... the info that Best buy says is incorrect..
is 6.1 still image. i have one of this cameras, and if you see in the pictures it says 6.1 MegaPixels.
3.2MP are only if you are videotaping on DV format and you take a picture. but. if you select camera mode, you can take 6.1 images.
