What's great about it: It's easy to use and setup.
What's not so great: It preforms terribly and is not customizable
"I bought this to replace a wireless router that had burned out from years of use. My setup is a DSL connection running into two routers chained together, one setup as a switch the other as the DHCP. This router worked ok as long as I only had 32-bit OS computers connected to it or didn't try to connect my other router to it. When I tried to connect the other router or a computer with VISTA 64-bit it would lose the internet connection complete and need to be reset to find it again with the router and VISTA 64 computers not connected.
I eventually returned the item and bought a Netgear router instead, have been happy with that choice ever since."

What's great about it: EASY INSTALLATION
What's not so great: SLOWS DOWN INTERNET SPEED
"Sure this item is easy to install (less that 5 minutes) but it is not worth the money. I have over 20 Mbps download speed when I connect to comcast modemn, but when I connected this router to my modemn my speed went down to less that 6 Mbps. Too slow for what I am paying for. My laptop barely get 1 Mbps and it consistently lose internet connection. Beware!"

What's not so great: Continually dropped connections, slowed to a halt before dropping.
"Worked for 1 day. Slowed until dropping internet connection. Had to reboot router about every hour. Returned 2 days later.
Very disappointed in this product."

"This is the worst computer product I have ever purchased. I had to go through installation twice to get it to work but could not set up a secured wireless connection. Called tech support. 1 hour later they got it working. Since then I have lost my internet connection many times and have had to call Tech support each time. I spend an hour with them on the phone going through a re installaion to get it to work. Then it stops working the next day."

"I just bought this router and I tried installing and already am having problems. The product install was easy but it would not have a connection; the router would have a disabled status. I have windows XP and went under network connections and enabled the router. The next thing it would say is that it was acquiring network connection but it would never connect.
I wound up talking to tech support and they helped me connect to the router on my desktop by configuring it manually. The worst problems were with my laptop where the connection appeared and it would not connect to the router (it would be forever acquiring network connection)... Nothing seemed to work network cable or without...
While I was the phone with tech support, they admitted that there a lot of calls with similar issues. I believe that some of my issues is that my PC's are a few years old and the router firmware was designed to make people buy new hardware. From some of the reviews that I have read, this seems like an issue.
While tech support was someone helpful, the product is not acceptable to me. I am an engineer and tech savy and have debug many computer issues but I think it a waste if the user can not have the router automatically connect with dynamic IP addresses and have to do it manually. There is no reason to buy such a router..."

"I am a complete idiot when it comes to anything related to computers, and I set this router up in five minutes with no trouble at all. It couldn't possibly be any easier. Don't let Time Warner or other cable companies charge you $100 to set up wireless and $10 a month to use it when you can install this yourself for $60."

"This is my first Wifi router that I've bought. It was recommended to me by a friend. He was right. Extremely easy to setup. It took only 15 min. to get it up and running. Its very secure as well if you want to protect your computer(s). It also comes with a trial version of Network Magic software which allows you to monitor everything on all connected computers as well as share files easily between all connected computers. You can also do speed tests with the software so you know your getting the maximum speed to all connected computers with the device. For my first WIFI router, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a beginner or novice, just for ease of setup and speed alone."

"My Netgear router died last week. Got this one on sale for $54.99. The price seemed good and I've heard good things about Linksys routers. Within 30 minutes my laptop was up and running on the internet again. Setup was incredibly easy. I remember setting up my Netgear I ended up calling customer service several times. Changing security with the Netgear was a pain in the neck, but this one was very easy. Trust me...I'm a novice at setting up routers!"

What's not so great: RUDE customer service, every time power goes out, have to re-program router
"The technicians are RUDE, RUDE, RUDE - The one inthe Phillipines that I talked with said the other technicians are in "another world".., power outage or internet service provider outage means I am on the phone for a couple of hours reconfiguring router with their "help". This router belongs in the trash can. I think it will be easier to set up a whole new router than to keep re-configuring this one.. We have fiberoptic cable. By the way, this is probably my first review of a product online - I feel strongly."

What's great about it: Incredibly easy to set up
What's not so great: Price is still affordable but I'm a cheapskate and would prefer a lower cost
"Been a longtime user of Linksys routers so when it came time to outfit my new apartment with a router, I went right back to Linksys.
Coming from my 1st Linksys router, I had a fair amount of issues (although to be fair, wireless routers were just taking off at that time)
My second one was the WRT54G. Again, not the greatest in terms of compatibility, but I was very impressed with the simplicity of setup.
And now we get to this current model. Setup keeps getting better and better with minimal trash software installed on the computer (I use a Mac). Setup was completely seamless (although it did take longer in terms of time than I had expected)
Within 15 minutes though, I was still up and running both wired and wireless, having named my router, and set up a secure password.
Speed is excellent.
Connectivity is excellent (although I should note that my NYC apartment is small and I only go from one room to the adjacent room)
Again, I'd like a lower price but all in all, a phenomenal setup process with outstanding performance. Maybe I'm asking too much with the price reduction :)"

"I have 3 computers networked to this router. All three experience the same issue. Router disconnects and reconnects frequently or disconnects and won't reconnect unless I reboot the router.
I called customer support. They quickly moved to "The problem is your wireless adapters."
I am using two different brands of wireless adapters (Intel and Hawking) on 3 different computers. All get the same results. I believe it is unlikely that three computers and two different brands of adapters all have the same problem. It sounds like a way to minimize customer support costs for Linksys to me.
Two of three computers were connected via Cat 5 cable before I installed this Wireless Router. I never had this problem so I don't believe it is my ISP.
Stay away from this brand if you are expecting support when setting up your network."

"I bought this due to the claim that set up was a snap. Don't believe the hype. This WILL NOT configure. Useless junk! The older (but slow) router works great, all computers work fine with other wireless systems, but not this one. Very complicated set up--on line, disk, configure this and change that. Was a waste of money and LOTS of frustrating time! Do NOT buy this product, you will be sorry."

"I contacted Lynksis to take care of the connection
problem. Since it was now out of warranty they charged me $39.99 for six calls or six months, whichever came first. The staff kept cutting off my call, then there were computer problems, then they failed to advise me of all the rules that went with signing up. The Tech Staff member was rude and discourteous. I complained to home office and they were helpful and concerned. They offered to refund my money without prompting. I continued to have problems and called back. The first tech support person told me to connect the modem to my computer for two hours and would call back. She didn't call back. When I called back the next tech person told me they wouldn't help me because I hadn't paid my $39.99. 10 hours later...I don't want their product. Very poor service and the product still isn't working."

"the linksys wireless g-router is very easy to setup. only took about 5 minutes to get it up and running. however after getting it up and running, the connection would randomly drop on both the wireless connections and wired connections. most cases, it would require a restart of either the computer or router. also when it was connected wirelessly, the connection speed was extremely slow. eventually became frustrated with it and took it back to bbuy. exchanged it for the Belkin - Wireless-G+ Wireless Router with 4-Port Switch which is the same price. the belkin router has worked flawlessly. wired and wireless computer connections are strong and stay connected. don't make the mistake i made, buy the belkin first. save yourself some time. cheers...."
