What's great about it: Headphone Jack; Picture Quality; Variety of Features
What's not so great: ?

"For decades, I always purchased Sony electronics, including our current three CRT TVs. When my wife and I decided to upgrade the TVs in our den and living area (we live in a large condo), we naturally thought first of buying a new Sony LCD.
I was amazed, however, that, not only Sony, but most of the other LCD TV brands I researched, excepting Samsung, did not offer even a single headphone jack output!!. Do they assume that buyers will all be outputing to home theater setups? (As my wife and I don't want to disturb one another when we relax after dinner, we almost always each use full spectrum sound headsets for music and TV viewing).
When I discovered that Samsung DID include a headphone jack on its 32" 1080p LCD, I immediately investigated this TV and was pleased to learn what an excellent TV in all respects it is. This is based not only on my own first-hand observations but from reading the reviews of other purchasers and professional reviewers. I bought the LN32A550 and haven't looked back.
Samsung has created a new convert that started with the simple addition of a phonejack; we'll be purchasing two more in the months ahead not simply because of that fact, but because it indicates that Samsung designers are thinking about their customer base. Thank you Samsung for not only manufacturing a first-rate piece of electronics, but for having the design foresight to include this small, but, for us at least, an ever so important feature!!!

What's great about it: Beautiful Picture & Good Sound
What's not so great: No audio when using an HDMI cable to go between cable box and TV.

"We are using this TV in our bedroom and it is the perfect size. We use a cable box to receive HD channels and the picture is great. DVDs look terrific and the USB connection works perfectly for images on a flash drive. We are using the component cables supplied by Time Warner since we were not able to get any audio when using the HDMI cable we purchased with the set. The supplied remote is user friendly and has a 180 minute sleep timer."

What's great about it: Everything is great
What's not so great: Not yet

"Purchased LCD TV for master bedroom, due to my Dell 26 inch having a power issue Dell wouldn't fix. It is what we wanted for the bedroom. It performs very well, digital channels are awesome. Sound is good for the bedroom. DVD's look awesome as always. I've always loved Samsung and plan on buying another larger version for the living room soon. It was a tough decision to make because all the pictures of all the TV's look great at the store. Would've loved the 37 inch if they had it in stock."

What's great about it: outstanding picture quality, easy set-up
What's not so great: sound quality could be better

"We upgraded from an 22 inch Panasonic LCD to this Samsung LCD. We looked at several different makes before settling on the Samsung and the picture quality on this set was far better than some of the more expensive products of the same size (32 inch). The refresh rate is high enough that you don't experience blurriness during action sequences or during fast moving sporting events. Set up was very easy with an HDMI cable (not provided). The only down-side is the sound quality, but as we don't use the television set for sound - we have a surround sound system hooked up - it isn't really an issue for us. That said, I wouldn't pass this flat panel over simply because of the sound quality. I would absolutely suggest this to a friend and am thrilled with it!"

What's great about it: Beautiful picture, good sound

"Love this TV - Samsung is as good as it gets. Highly recommended for anyone who just can't afford the "high end" 1080p's. It's my first so I'm not the best judge, but I know a good picture when I see it, and this TV has a fantastic one. Great product. Check out CNet's reviews for a more informed opinion. Highly rated on their site, as well."

What's great about it: Amazing picture quality, decent sound, accepts wide range of input formats, sweet price.
What's not so great: No PIP (Picture in picture) with two HDMI inputs.

"This TV is amazing. Not a single burnt pixel, customizable menu/picture options, easily wall-mountable, very clean and sleek design even when turned off.

The only con I found is that with PIP (Picture in Picture) is enabled, you can only mix-and-match an over-the-air signal with an HD signal. This means that you CAN watch your local news while watching a DVD, but you CANNOT utilize two HDMI ports at the same time (such as your PC, and a Blu-Ray movie).

What's great about it: Awesome picture
What's not so great: None

"I was looking for a 32" LCD TV for our bedroom. Did a lot of research and settled on the Samsung LN32A550 or LN32A450. 1080p or no 1080p, that was the question. After seeing and comparing both sets in the store and contrary to what I had read, I was able to discern a better picture with the LN32A550 (1080p) and was leaning in that direction. I did more research and was startled to see a number of reviews that gave the 550 poor marks for sound. Since Best Buy has a 30 exchange period, I decided to take a chance and purchased the the LN32A550.

I brought the set home and was impressed by the ease of assembly of the tv to the base. I then turned it on and was amazed by the quality of the picture with regular cable. I do not have HD but that will change in a few weeks.

My attention then turned to the sound. I was initially a little disappointed with the sound quality and decided to read the manual. I discovered that the tv has built-in surround and a feature that lets you tweak the sound to your preference. I turned the surround sound feature on and immediately noticed a great improvement with the sound quality. In fact, I was now happy with the sound and did not do any other changes. I was now wondering if the individuals who wrote reviews and complained about the sound read the manual.

In summary this is a fantastic set. I can't wait for my HD feed from AT&T.

What's great about it: 1080p resolution, realtively inexpensive, plenty of inputs, 3 free Blu Ray movies
What's not so great: none so far

"I have had my eye on this set for about 4 months now and I was just waiting for the price to come down a little bit. I got it on sale for 899.99 just the other day and I can confidently say that it was money well spent. I have both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 hooked up and the picture is absolutely superb! When I bought the tv, the sales associate informed me that Disney had a promotion going on that if you bought any 1080p tv you would get 3 free bluray movies. It included Invincible, Night at the Museum and 50 first dates. The bundle was worth 90 dollars and I got it for free. I already have a bluray collection started and I just bought the tv! I would definitely bring that up to the sales associate if you are serious about purchasing a 1080p tv. Bluray is so amazing! Once you have a piece of that pie it's hard going back to standard definition. I don't even have cable and the set still picked up about 30 channels, some of them HD, and it looks great. I gave the sound quality rating a 5 because I have never used the speakers on the tv. I hooked it up to my surround system via fiber optic cable and I will probably never use the tv speakers because of that. To sum it up, this set is perfect for new generation gamers, bluray, day to day television watching and showing off to your friends. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about getting a 1080p tv."

Simply stunning   07/13/2008
By MSpeed3 from Gainesville, FL

What's great about it: Everything you would want in a TV
What's not so great: sound is lacking a little

"Beautiful picture, looks great with XBOX 360 and HD! Standard definition still looks better than my old LCD, and yuo can adjust the location of the picture, which is good because fro some reason I had to hide a static bar going along the top of the picture (my LCD I took back and replaced with this one did not have that feature so you are stuck staring at that bar instead of watching TV). Excellent TV, just hook up to a home theater surround sound system if you like deep audio. Bought mine open box, so even better!"

Great Buy!   07/12/2008
By TechJunkie85 from Diamond Bar, CA

What's great about it: crystal clear 1080p resolution, attractive gloss finish, easy PC connectivity, user-friendly interface/menus

"After doing extensive research on LCD HDTVs, I decided to settle on Samsung's LN32A450. It scored highly on both bestbuy.com as well as CNET.com. However, I sit close to my TV (<6 ft) because it rests next to my 22" monitor. I had planned on purchasing a LCD TV to use as a 2nd monitor when I learned that 720p would not suffice. Granted, for any other purpose (HDTV/BluRay/Xbox360), 720P would be more than accomodating. When using an LCD TV as a monitor, 1080p pays off big time because the extra pixels make for a much sharper image. The 5ms is also great for gaming (I play Cryis and WoW @ 1920 x 1080). Most other sources only broadcast at 720p, and for any other function, any 1080p tv under 42"-50" would be overkill. All I can say is, with the TV on sale and a 10% discount, it was definitely worth the buy. I've had the TV for a month now and am definitely satisfied. I'll keep you guys updated!"

Best of its size   07/07/2008
By Chricton from Illinois

What's great about it: Picture, Ease/Options of Color Control
What's not so great: None

"I previously owned a 32" Insignia, and while at the time I thought the picture was amazing, there is a reason this TV costs roughly twice as much. The preset colors out of the box were beautiful, and I'm sure I can coax more out of it when I get the time. There are a ton of options when it comes to color calibration.
One of the biggest things I noticed right away compared to the Insignia were the black levels. Their DEEP. I popped in my "Planet Earth" Blu-Ray and was blown away for the second time. Colors were more vibrant and true to "real world". Some will tell you 1080p at this size isn't worth it, but I disagree. No 32" 720p set in the store looked as good as this side-by-side. The model above this one, the 650, looked no different to me. I think that model is more about extending the features rather than improving the picture quality.
3 HDMI ports is great, as well as 3 regular RCA/Component jacks for older systems. The VGA input is great as well, as I have a XBOX 360 w/ VGA out cables.
I can't comment on the sound as I have it hooked up to a 5.1 system via the optical out, but others have stated it is good.
The stand is incredibly sturdy, and the finish on the TV itself is attractive.

Great 32" 1080 TV   07/05/2008
By Wimpy from Los Angeles, Ca.

What's great about it: Great Picture, Easy setup!
What's not so great: Gets alittle to warm on top of TV/Screen.

"This is my first HD TV and it's Great! It has a Great picture, sound and it was easy to setup. The size is great 32", the looks are great. The only thing I have to say bad about this TV is that it gives off alittle to much heat/warm on top of the TV and screen. Other than that it's GREAT! The sales poeple were the BEST! GREAT TV!   07/01/2008
By slogun from Long Island, NY

What's great about it: Picture, Sound
What's not so great: none

"This is my third HDTV. Bought this for the wife for the bedroom and it is totally amazing. This TV has the brightest, sharpest picture of all the brands I saw including Sony and Sharp. I was somewhat hesitant to buy though after reading about negative comments some had to say about the sound. Well, I say the sound on this TV is EXCELLENT! My wife likes her TV loud and her Sony had front-firing speakers which sounded great. Wasn't sure if the sound on this TV with down firing speakers would do the job, but this TV sounds even better than the Sony, LOUD and CLEAR!"

Great Quality HDTV for a GREAT Price   06/15/2008
By RatchetLomu from New York, NY

What's great about it: 3 HDMI Ports, Easy to setup, Crystal clear images
What's not so great: Hardly noticeable occassional motion blur on fast games.

"This HDTV is great, the quality of the image is crystal-clear. Sometimes it blurs on the fast games such as GT5P on the PS3. But that's acceptable, because it's hardly noticeable. I purchased it online, and had it picked up from the store. I previously bought the Sony Bravia 32" and found out that this HDTV outperformed the Sony brand! The image was blurry on the Sony brand, and this one... Not even a blur! I returned the Sony one, and got this one. I would defiently recommend this HDTV for anyone who wants a very good HDTV for a very fair price."

Good Things in Small Packages   05/20/2008
By techking from Lancaster, PA

What's great about it: Great 1080P Picture
What's not so great: Poor Sound Quality from Set Speakers

"This set has a great picture. It has great detail and depth of field. I have both a Panosonic BD10A Bluray player and an A30 Toshiba HD DVD player hooked up to it. When you watch a true 1080P movie the picture is almost 3D. I had purchased a 32" Sharp Aquos 1080P set and was going to move a 32" Toshiba Regza 720P set to my office. But before doing it I hooked both up side by side and watched a Bluray & HD DVD movie and the Toshiba had a much better picture than the Sharp. After days of trying to get the picture set up better I gave up and returned it. I brought the Samsung home and did the same test with the Toshiba. This time the Samsung won on detail and depth of field. The Toshiba matched it for close ups and in general but on panaramic scenes and detailed backgrounds the Samsung rules. So the Tosh went to the office. If you want the best 32" 1080P set go with this Samsung."
