What's great about it: Easy to use, produces decent pictures, not too expensive What's not so great: Error causes it to be unusable
"I own this camera and have been really happy with it up until now. It's a good price for such a small camera that takes pretty good pictures; unfortunately, it no longer takes pictures. After using it last, I turned it off and put it back in my pocket... when I took it out again, all I got was a 'Lens error, restart camera' message and a black screen. If you want a camera that will work for a while (and hopefully stop working before the warranty is up), this is probably a good buy, but if you want a dependable camera buy a different brand."

Taken with 12x Digital Zoom, Gloomy Day
What's great about it: The most vibrant and clear pictures you can get for the price What's not so great: Nothing, I love this camera
"I bought this camera in hopes of a nice digital, that was not as pricey as my SLR. Personally i found this camera easy to use, and more then surprised by how pretty all of my pictures turned out. Its enjoyable to look over my pictures on the computer and see the true colors pop out. Canon makes a great camera and I would recommend this camera to anyone that is looking to buying it."

What's great about it: Lot's of useful features, easy to navigate, continuous mode What's not so great: Image quality is no better than most other cameras in the same price range, expensive replacement battery.
"First off, this camera practically does everything. The only feature it really lacks is the ability to shoot in HD (like some Kodaks and Sonys) or film "Youtube ready" (like some Casios) movies. Neither feature is a huge loss for me. Right out of the box, it's very snappy and ready to shoot practically anything. Indoor flash is a bit exessive sometimes, but no worse than some older Kodak and Olympus cameras I've owned.
I bought the camera because of two features: Continuous mode and panoramic mode. Try finding both on a camera in this price range and you'll be left with few choices. The continuous mode is great for shooting your kids sports games. Unlike other cameras that only shoot a couple of pictures per burst, the continuous mode will literally fill the memory card with continuous shots if you hold down the button long enough. It shoot about 2 shots every 3 seconds (1.3 fps). Panoramic mode is great for wide open shots of cityscapes and mountain views.
It has a nice size. It's "big" for a slim camera, but it's still smaller than my wife's PDA phone so keeping it in your pocket isn't a problem. Also, it's very sturdy (unlike other cameras in this price range) so you won't have to worry so much about damaging it if it's in your pocket.
Oh yeah, it uses SD memory. This is a good things since SD cards are cheap. Sonys use their own MemoryStick memory, which is grossly expensive. You probably won't need a 50x or 133x speed SD card to shoot in continuous mode. I can do it fine with the free Kingston 2GB card that came with it (as a promotion). As long as the card can write 4MB/sec or more, you'll be fine.
The bad: The battery. Battery life is good, but if you want to carry a spare you'll be shelling out $40+ for a replacement battery. The image quality is good, not great so it's not really a "bad".... just something that's not as good as all the other features. It's still better than any Kodak in this price range, but maybe not quite as good as a Fuji, Olympus, or Samsung in the same price range. At normal settings it's fine, but you'll notice a lot of picture noise in lower ISO settings.
All in all, I'm VERY happy with the camera and would most likely buy another for a family member as a gift (like my wife, who is now green with envy). It's a good camera (picture-wise) with a ton of VERY GOOD features. This camera isn't prefect, but it's pretty close."

What's great about it: Simple to use, takes great pictures, very small What's not so great: Flash is too strong in some situations, weak zoom
"We bought this camera after our last one (a pentax 7mp) was lost. We have a two year old that is fast and with our old camera she always seems to be some blur in the corner of the shot, but with this camera, it always seems to get her crisp, clear and bright. Recently, we took a car trip through a remote part of the desert. My wife was snapping away at passing scenery and the pictures looked like we had stopped and gotten out of the car. Aso, the battery just does not seem to quit. a couple hundred pictures with flash, movies, etc. and it still didn't need a charge. I finally just charged it.
Only minor qualms include a sometimes too bright flash that has a tendency to wash people out and the zoom is a little too short.
This is the fourth digital camera we've had. It is by far the best of the bunch and best value."

What's great about it: Ease of use, Great picture, pretty much everything What's not so great: Selector for picture/movie on the back
"I bought this camera at Walmart when I was back in the states. Had it for a few months and took it everywhere with me. Took a lot of great pictures and videos. Pulled it out of my pocket one day, went to switch it to the video selection, and the selector was broken off inside the camera. The selector was still attached to the camera, but it was broken so that you couldn't select picture or video, it would just slide up and down.
I have no idea what would have caused this because I took very good care of it. It was the first camera I ever bought and the picture quality was great and the video quality was also good.
I am thinking about buying another one, but the selector issue keeps coming back to me. Maybe if they had a dial or button selections for video/picture it would be an easier decision to make.
Other than the selector being a piece of S, everything else with this camera is top notch."

What's great about it: easy to use, AWESOME DEAL, slim, compact, light What's not so great: basic camera?
"I owned an older model of the Canon Powershot, I forgot what model number exactly but something had happened to it. My daughter had her homecoming dance coming up and she needed a camera so I went out and bought this for her. I must say, it's a great camera for the price that I paid for it! I compared the two and Canon has changed their powershot cameras immensely. This camera is so easy to use and the screen is large! My daughter loves it and takes it everywhere with her. Buy it if you need a simple, easy, and great camera to use! I woudln't say it's the best camera ever but it comes pretty close!"

What's great about it: Sharpest and simplest point-n-shoot camera with amazing image quality! What's not so great: Nothing, so far.
"My Sony Cyber-shot just did not match up to this Canon in more ways. For under $200, this camera is an amazing value! The quality of a Canon can't be beat. When my friends from Japan visit me, they all carry Canon. They say it's the number one camera in Japan over Sony, and I now see why. Tottemo sugoi desu nee!
Seriously, do not waste your money on a Sony camera. Buy a Canon instead."

What's great about it: Easy to use, takes great pictures, compact, good battery life, good flash What's not so great: Service Plan hasn't arrived
"This is a great camera for a very good price. I've enjoyed it so far in that it has a good battery life, a pretty good flash, a good zoom function, and takes quality pictures. There are definitely higher end cameras, but this is great for what it does and is very compact. I'm quite happy with it."

What's great about it: Clear pictures What's not so great: Not very good night shot
"I have always liked Canon brand better than any other brands. I used to have Sony but the quality is bad. I decided to buy Canon because my friend used it and the results are very good. It's just that this camera's night shot does not come out too clear as my friend's Canon Power shot series A. It came out dark taken at night while my friend can still see the object with her series A. I will still recommend this but maybe it's just needs more exploration and learning for us to use it."

What's great about it: Camera is easy to use, quick at taking pictures, the pictures come out crystal clear, battery life lasts for long time What's not so great: NONE
"I had a cannon powershot 450 for 3 years and it was my life. I had accidentally dropped my camera and it froze, I was devastated and was determine to get it fix. When I brought it to Best buy the customer service suggested that it would be wiser to buy a new one since all the new even cheap brands were better then the one I had. I was very reluctant and went home to do some research. I had a hard time parting from it until my boyfriend surprised me with a brand new Cannon powershot sd1100is. I was amazed at the quickness of taking pictures was, and was able to catch action pictures unlike my 450 which hesitated. The pictures itself were extremely vivid and clear, you could see everything perfectly, and not to mention the controls and functions were easy to use. Overall I thought I would never say it but this camera is far better then my 450 and doesn't leave my side! I highly suggest this camera to everyone and have recently bought my mom one, and convinced my sister to get one too... both agree that it is not only the best functioning camera but it is sleek and small which can be easily stashed in a purse when going out."

What's great about it: good quality picture, convenient small size
"Although I've seen cameras with additional features not included on the PowerShot, most of those features aren't necessary anyway so I love this camera. I have an earlier version with fewer megapixels but the picture quality is still quite good. If you're the type of person that likes to take pictures with family & friends when you go out, it's slim enough to comfortably fit in your pocket. I've had my PowerShot for a couple years and even though I use it constantly I've never had a problem with it. A newer model can only mean higher quality and the price is very reasonable so it's worth every penny!"
