What's great about it: Zero setup required on PS3 What's not so great: Can’t power on PS3
"At a $20 price you can’t beat the value if you want to use your universal IR remote with the PS3. The only other option I could find had the price tag of $150!!! I had zero issues with this device, plugged it into my PS3, updated my harmony remote with this device (under game consoles w/ DVD), and done."

What's great about it: IF it works it allows you to use a universal remote for your PS3, or the packaged one. What's not so great: Locks up my PS3 constantly.
"I purchased this so that I could use my Logitech Harmony remote with my home theater set up. Ok, I put in a BD movie, pressed the directionals to get to the movie, and as soon as I clicked to play the movie the PS3 locked up, and had to be shut off and restarted.
Ok, so I tried it again, and at the exact same point, it locked up again, forcing me to reboot my PS3. This time my PS3 had to rebuild the database, because of the 2 shutdowns.
Ok, so NOW I have pulled that movie out of my PS3, and put in a BRAND NEW movie, that I had purchased at the same time. Guess what same thing AGAIN, when trying to select to play the movie. Ok so now I had to reboot a third time, and again it had to rebuild the database, and now my trophies and friends are gone.
Ok, not happy with what's going on, I tried a REGULAR dvd movie. When I tried to select to play the movie, this time it started to go, then again it locked up. I removed the USB dongle that comes with the remote, and POOF the movie went to playing. Thinking that this was odd, I put the dongle back in, in a different slot. CLINK, the movie stopped after about 10 seconds after putting the dongle back in. I took it out again, and about 10 seconds later it started playing the movie. SO I ejected the movie, and put in one of the BD movies I had previously tried, and using my regular PS3 BD remote, the movie played without errors.
I contacted SONY Support (that's another review for later), and was informed that there are known issues with the nYko BlueWave dongle and remote, and that since it is not their product, they do not offer support for it, NOR will they be inputting any updates to the core system to fix the problem.
I have the 80GB version that IS backwards compatible. This has been a known issue for the 40, 60, and 80 GB versions that ARE backwards compatible. The newer 120GB version so far is not known to have this problem.
All in all I would say that if you DO NOT have this problem, then the set up is probably pretty good, however if you do, then buy the IR2BT available on the net."

do things right the first time

"If Sony had installed a IR receiver on the PS3 this remote would not be needed. They didn't, so the rest of us who enjoy using a Harmony remote to control our media centers are left to find a work around. At first I was disappointed that the remote could not turn the unit on and off. Then as I stood in the store deciding what remote I should buy. A thought occurred to me. I still have to put the disc in the machine. I still have to turn the machine on to put the disc in the machine. So is it really a problem that the remote does not turn the unit on and off? Not really. Now the whole thing works with my Harmony 880 and the world is as perfect as it gets."

What's great about it: simple to use ... just plug and play :) What's not so great: not good construction, take one powered usb port
"If you have Logitech Harmony remote, this is definitely the way to go to control your PlayStation 3 for DVD/BD playback. It allow Harmony remote to control PS3 as an infrared device. Two bad things about this product: 1. weak construction on the USB dongle. I killed mine since I keep unplug and re-plug it as I need the usb port for other thing (I have PS3-40GB with only 2 USB ports). I suggest you buy a powered USP port Hub and connect it. 2. it required a powered USB port, if you use an unpowered USB hub, you can not connect anything else to the hub. all in all, I like it with Harmony. If you have Harmony, better off by the bluetooth Sony PS3 DVD remote."

What's great about it: Can control my Harmoney One What's not so great: Can't turn on or off the ps3
"Of course, just like many the reason why I purchased this item in to control my ps3 with my Harmony remote. The only thing is you have to register the blu-wave as the device, and have to program the commands yourself. Just go to the activities screen, find the blu-wave and click on customize buttons. Then customize as desired. Money well spent if you ask me. And like stated only con is that it can't turn the system off or on with the adapter. Oh well can't have your cake and eat it to I suppose."

Great Remote

What's great about it: infrared What's not so great: no on or off funtion.
"Really the only thing great about this product is the usb infrared module. Now you can get your expensive universal controller...lets say Logitech's Harmony to sync and control the basic functions for your PS3.
Keep in mind when you do program your remote, add the Nyko Bluwave as the device not your PS3.
You will also have to force program your PS button. I choose the "Enter" button to act as the PS button.
Other then that you are back having one remote for all your home theater gadgets."
