What's great about it: Picture quality is outstanding right out of the box What's not so great: Not sure if it has PIP - can't get mine to work. Potential for some burn in.
"I did plenty of research when searching for a TV because I wanted the perfect balance of size, price and quality. This TV has exceeded all of my expectations - now I smile every time I see it hanging on my wall. The picture is outstanding (although I stick to the HD channels). There was no picture calibration needed or anything like that. The glare that people talk about is almost never noticed. I have seen minor burn-in when playing XBox games - I don't play all that much - so if you're an avid gamer, you may need to consider LCD. But the burn-in was temporary - the reviews say that most new plasmas don't have permanent burn-in and it seems to be true with this TV. The sound on the TV is adequate, but you're wasting it's potential if you don't have it hooked up to a surround sound system. The 3 HDMI ports are good - the ones on the side come in quite handy. I had the Geek Squad mount it on my wall and that saved me from having to figure out how to do that myself (cutting holes in my wall and threading cables, etc.) BestBuy also matched Circuit City's price, and gave me tons of extra offers, including 3 yrs no interest financing, which made the whole package worth every penny."

What's great about it: Sharp n crisp picture. great apperance. The features it offers are great. What's not so great: A room with lot of light causes glares, nothing can compare at night though
"I got this as a replacement TV from Best Buy as my previous one broke. I would have to say that I love this more as the picture is so very clean. It has changed my perspective about plasma TV's. Do not go for the brand name. Samsung plasma and lcd are awesome TV's for the money. I definetely recommend this TV. Best Buy runs great sales on this TV so go there and get it. You will not be disappointed."

"I have owned many TV's and this by far is the best I have ever purchased. I am blown away by the detail and clarity when playing a blu-ray movie. I am glad I decided on a 58" over a 52". It fits perfectly in my room. The sound on this TV is surprisingly good for a flat screen these days. I would not hesitate for a minute to recommend it."

What's great about it: 1080P. Great picture quality. Great black levels. Great value for a 58inch. Hardly any buzz. Decent glare filtering.
"I had my eyes set on the Pioneer 6010 or the 6020 but never pulled the trigger because it was over $4200.00. Then came the Samsung PN58A550. Had some good features and was very affordable. So much affordable that I ended up buying it and had so much money left over that I bought a PS3 for Blu-Ray, a 5 year extended warranty, and a new sound system. This TV is huge! I mounted it on a Salamander Triple Mount Stand and have it tilted down 7 degrees. The TV faces a large window across the room but due to the TV at a angle there is barely any glare/reflection at all. Black levels and picture quality looked great to me. Now some people say that plasma TVs produce too much buzz or too much heat. There is some heat coming off the screen but it's not HOT. Just a bit warm. Sitting about 10ft away there is no audible buzz from the TV. When I was behind it though doing the wiring there is some humming but it's nothing to complain about. The TV speakers are nothing special but I have mine hooked up to an Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver with BIC Acoustech Home Theater system. Other devices that I have for entertainment are Toshiba HD-A35, PS3 for Blu-Ray, and a Xbox 360 for games. I am very happy with the Samsung 58A550 and I highly recommend it."

"Like everyone else, I researched and researched before buying a T.V. I really loved the panasonic plasmas, but some reviews about the power units going out on some really scared me away. Comparing both the panasonic pz-58700u and the samsung next to each other, you really couldn't tell the difference in picture quality. Both pictures were flawless! Just because the panasonics have been rated pretty high the last couple of years in consumer reports doesn't mean there aren't any other great plasmas out there. The samsung is that t.v. TRUST me!!! This is the best t.v. I've ever owned in my life! Great PICTURE, COLOR, DEEP BLACKS, ETC.................Don't ever buy the t.v. for the asking price. You have to wait till these suckers go on sale or you have to do some super wheeling and dealing. I would love to tell you what I got mine for but I might get in trouble....... It also helps to package things together. Blu-ray, receiver,speakers,etc. YOU'LL LOVE THIS T.V."

"I bought this TV at Best Buy in brookpark,OH. I also bought a stand, surround sound with this TV to make it the Home theater package. The TV itself is the best TV purchase i have ever seen. The picture gets no better! Dark and Deep black and white contrast. Looks very nice set up on or mounted. There is nothing bad i can possibly say about this Plasma. Go get it now! You wont be disappointed."
