What's great about it: Picture, easy to set up, great price
What's not so great: sound could be better
"This is my first HDTV. I researched for about 3 months and narrowed my choices to Samsung or Sony. When Best Buy had this one for $899 with a $75 Best Buy gift card, I knew this was the TV for me. Got it home and hooked it up in about 10 minutes. Picture is awesome. Sound is a little flat, but I plan on getting a surrond sound system. Overall, this is a great TV. Also, the salesman at the Knightdale Best Buy was very friendly and knowledgeable. A pleasure to do business with."

What's great about it: Picture
What's not so great: wish it had more HDMI connections
"This TV is great! I am a bit of a videophile as well as an audiophile. I work for a huge cable company and have seen a ton of TV's in my travels. I had narrowed my decision down to Sony or Samsung.
After alot of review I decided that the Samsung would do just fine. I got it home and tore into the box for the wall hanger, got it installed and hung the TV. I hooked up an XBox 360 and a Blue Ray player and was blown away by the picture.
The sound was a little "weird" from the speakers being located in the back but that might be a little my fault because the wall it is hung on is sound proofed. I think they are supposed to resonate off the wall. It is in a den for me only and have surround sound yet to be installed so the sound wont bother me.
Anyways the only thing that bothers me is that there are only 2 HDMI ports in the back and 1 on the side. Not a big deal to ME as my reciever has HDMI out but the the normal consumer it might be a bother.
All in all this is a GREAT TV!!! Buy this one!"

What's great about it: adjustable picture otions and picture quality
What's not so great: sound is flat even with in surround sound mode
"I just picked up this tv, because I want a bigger tv (i had a 32inch LCD scrren) my living room is huge. First the screen size is perfect for my living room. The picture is great, even from a good distance away from the screen. The 5ms thing is good, having a good amount of picture options is great, there are so many adjustments you can do to the screen. Nice clear picture, sound is poor it lacks bass but it there is a equalizer mode for sound. When watching football the grass does not look good, but HD cahnnels are great. When close to the screen the picture is not that clear.
Run the sound thru a stereo. The remote lights up for dark rooms It was on website for 1024.99 but when I went to bestbuy it was 999.00"

What's great about it: Picture Quality Great at this price point
What's not so great: PIP hard to get to and can't use in digital mode
"This has been a good purchase for my bathroom tv connecting pc w/hdmi works great. Don't forget to change audio setting on pc to get sound through the HDMI cable. Speakers aren't that great on this TV. Picture quality is very dynamic but, you can't use PIP in a digital mode. Usb works good for viewing pics or videos. Optical sound engine output has great quality once you connect to sound system just turn tv speakers off. The hot tub has never been so relaxing so overall this has been a good purchase... WATCH THE ADS I think it should drop to $899.00"

"originally bought the store brand In......, had it for about a week. Went to a friends house who had this Samsung 1080 LCD and it was like night and day!! This is like looking through a picture window. Took seconds to hook up and before I knew it I had my very own #1. Hats off to Samsung!!!"

"i have been waiting for years to get a HD TV and i finally got it and it's awesome the only thing i would say to someone buying a HD TV is don't expect the sound that comes out of any HD TV to be great. IF YOUR GETTING A HD TV GET A SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM OR DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SOUND YOUR BUYING THE TV FOR THE PICTURE NOT THE SOUND. with that said this TV is awesome."

What's great about it: Excellent value for the price, beautiful HD picture, easy to set up & operate
What's not so great: Sound is good but could be better and remote control awkward to hold
"We purchased this TV about 8 months ago for our bedroom and have been so pleased with it that we recently purchased another one for our great room. The picture quality is excellent, set up and programming were easy, and the overall size fits well above our fireplace. One thing that we really appreciate is the matte finish on the screen which in a sunny room makes the picture easier to see. My only complaint is that the sound is somewhat flat and the remote control shape is awkward to hold on to. However, we use a surround sound system and our DirecTV remote so both of these complaints are minimized. Excellent TV for the price and absolutely no defects or problems have occurred."

What's not so great: horizontal lines appear across screen
"I purchased this TV and a horizontal line appeared across the entire screen about 15 months after purchase. Samsung would not negotiate or assist with any repair since it was after the "12 month" warranty. With the number of TV brand choices available, I would strongly recommend AGAINST purchasing SAMSUNG brand televisions, particularly in light of their poor customer service."

What's great about it: HDTV, SLEEK.
What's not so great: Picture is terrible unless ur watching HDTV
"We went from owning a 50" Sony rear projection TV which is 4 years old, to this 40" Samsung. We talked with the sales guy for 2 hours, Left, came back and talked for another 3 hours before settling on this Tv. It is beautiful style wise, light and I love the light that glows from underneath.....However....Unless you are watching an HDTV Channel, HD Movie or play an HD game, the picture is terrible!!! I would rather watch my 27' Tube tv in our bedroom its so blurry and pixielated! I was sooooo Dissapointed. But the screen is Beautiful while watching anything HD. Sadly, we only have like 15 HD Channels, so I feel like the TV was a waste of $1,200. I would only recommend this TV to a HD gammer or someone who watches a lot of HD movies."

What's great about it: Simple set-up, nice picture even on regular cable
What's not so great: Remote control receiver
"We have been looking at this tv for quite a while now. We finally decided to purchase one while it was on sale. We really like the picture, even on the regular cable channels. But on the HD channels it really shines.
The only down fall is that the remote has to be pointed very much in the direction of the sensor on the tv. That can be kind of annoying, but I can deal with that."

"This screen to remarkable. It is the first Samsung product I have owned. I normally buy Sony. Well Sony check your prices because Samsum has made this LCD as good or better for less $$. It's not only a bargin, but very easy to setup and use. The picture is excelent. It is actually too bright for the room we have it in so we turn down the backlight which is an simple button that is easy to get too. We don't use the sound on it so I can't speak to that."

"Being this is my first LCD TV and I have a Denon & Polk 7.1 set-up in my living room, the not-so-good sound from the TV is my only quirk, be-it a very small one. This TV fits in great with my decor and occupies ALOT less space than my CRT 32" Samsung. I've always liked Samsung products and this one continues my preference. Picture quality is great, very vibrant and sharp. This TV is only used for watching TV and DVD's, no gaming. Plenty of hook-ups and options. A great set!!"

"Ok this is a long story..I'll trim it down for this review..I bought this TV 6 months ago, And the picture and sound are great...I was very happy with this set..I have always been an avid Samsung backer from dvd players to TV's to even my cell phone, But not anymore..So on to the story after 6 short months I go to turn on the TV, And it appears as though it wants to turn on, But doesn't and the power light starts blinking rapidly..No picture, No sound nothing..I try everything unplug it overnight and still nothing.After some research I find out that this is a common problem on Samsung TV's..They call it the 3 blinking lights..Look it up.So I call Best Buy and since it is still under manufacturers warranty..It can only be serviced by a Samsung tech..So I call Samsung and they give me a service center to call after calling them 12 times I finally get in touch with someone..They say a tech will be by Friday..The Tech calls me Friday and asks for model # version, and all that stuff, And then says he knows what is wrong and will order the part and be here monday...So Monday comes the tech shows up with no part, he tests the TV then says he has to order the part..I call Samsung and they arae no help..I ask for them to expedite the part..They say they can't which is a joke to me..So now all I can do is hold out hope that this part arrives Friday morning or I am without a TV for another weekend...When I talked to Samsung the only answers they had was I don't know...The fact a 6 month old TV broke is crazy, But I guess things happen, But what got me was the lack of Knowledge and quite honestly the desire to help me that Samsung displayed...I lost all respect for Samsung, And my advice is pay the few extra bucks and buy the best Sony so you can avoid this headache.2 weeks to fix a TV that should of never broke is just nonsense."

"The tv is a fantastic buy for the cost. I have been shopping tv's for a couple of months!! Samsung ultimately was my favorite tv brand. My tv fits great in my living room and is great for my HD Direct Tv and Playstation 3. The only knock against this model would be that it is now up against the 120 hz tvs which are in a completely different league. Overall, it is a great tv and now a very good buy!!"

"I bought this TV as my first HDTV for my room. I looked for a Samsung because of their unrivaled picture quality and overall design. I first looked to purchase the 37 but then realized that they were so close in sale price that it was worth it to buy the 40. This TV has been nothing short of perfect, the picture quality is amazing, the sound is suitable for the size of the TV (i recommend hooking the TV up to a surround system), and everything about the TV is great. The only problem i have found with the TV is that it does not change between inputs very quickly, but I'm pretty impatient. I would definitely recommend this TV to anyone looks for a 40 with great quality and more bag-for-your-buck"

What's great about it: PIP, Easy setup. Great picture in bright rooms.
What's not so great: 2 Channel sound from Optical cable thru DVR
""CONSUMER REPORTS" Top 40" LCD TV. In the TOP 100 products this unit was rated the highest for the 40 LCD. I purchased this tv 5 weeks ago and have been very impressed with the picture quality. I have a window that get bright sunlight and this unit performs wonderfully. Only this I dont like is that the Digital Optical only puts out 2 channel sounds from a DVD, DVR etc... But just connect it to your reciever and you can have great sound. TV speaker is good if you just spend a little time adjusting the eq settings. Great TV and a great buy."
