What's great about it: Pretty good picture, size of picture, viewing angles
What's not so great: Not very easy to use, sound could be better.

"We have had this tv for a few months now and overall I am pretty happy with the unit. The picture is great, the viewing angles are great. It is not the easiest to use, esp. when the tv likes to do things automatically that you might not want it to do. (AnyNet comes to mind). The audio is pretty poor for the size of the tv and the dollar amount you pay for it. We run ours through an LG surround system so that makes up for the sound quality. If you are looking for a nice tv that runs cool, has a great pic and should last for years to come, than this is not a bad choice. Best on the market? No. Worse? Many."

What's great about it: Good Value for Size vs. Cost compare to LCD, Uses LEDs instead of bulbs
What's not so great: Been warranty serviced twice already, PIP not easy to use

"We have had the TV for six months. Great Price for the size especially compared to LCDs of even half the size. LED should last much longer than the bulbs on other projection tvs. The DLP is crystal clear. Ok, now the bad parts - we have already had it serviced twice under the warranty for a 2" high dark bar that has appeared in the middle of the screen and goes all the way across the screen. Not exactly what I would expect on a new TV. Samsung isn't the fastest on repairs because they farm out the repairs to small local shops. Only one even close to us and is coming from 30 miles away. Took them several weeks to come out."

What's great about it: A lot of TV for the price
What's not so great: Two bad bulbs & terrible customer service from Samsung.

"In less that a year and a half time, we have had two bulbs go out on this television. The first bulb went out eight days after the manufacturer warranty, which took approx $250 to purchace the bulb and have it delivered. We asked the online rep from Samsung what could be done in the future to avoid the new bulb from burning out. We were told to invest in a zone protector with a batter back up, which we already had one that we bought for $50 when we bought the television. We were told that we needed a different unit (Approx $125)

So $375 & nine days later, we have our TV up and running again. Everything was fine for four and a half months, until the new bulb went out! Thinking that since the bulb was less than five months old, we should be able to get a replacement with no problem.

The customer service at Samsung was terrible, we were treated as if we were being a bother to the rep on the phone. No consideration was taken what so ever in regard for the history with this television. She said "sometimes the bulbs just burn out.""

What's great about it: Viewing from Any Angle is Great
What's not so great: Speakers not quite as good as my Stereo Sound System... Duh

"I could reiterate the 2 owners manuals here so that you would love this TV as much as I do. Read all the reviews and you decide. The neatest thing about this 61 inch TV is it does NOT have the bulb that needs replacing every year. I don't understand LED Engines, but many sources have mentioned that it is good for 20,000 hours. That's almost 10 years at 8 hours per day. I can live with that. HVD's will be out by then anyway. (That's hologram t.v.) The speakers on this t.v. are ok and sound better than the old analog t.v. it replaced. Sometimes, my sound system is just too much. So I just use the built in speakers. I would have rated this t.v. higher, except I'm not all that knowledgeable. There may be a better one out there for the money... but I doubt it."

What's great about it: Picture size, Price and Efficient LED Power
What's not so great: Misconvergence in the upper third of screen, Low motion resolution

"At the new 11/24/3008 prices this projector is a bargain just as hdguru.com states. My evaluation and recommendations:
Use -3 gamma and CNET.com settings. (Ok sports -2) . Use little or no A/C power conditioning. Use movie setting for night, standard for evening and dynamic for daytime viewing.
Use only the sRGB colorspace setting, otherwise there is too much of an orange cast to in skin tones. TI and Samsung have really gone all-out in this DLP design to provide the maximum fidelity possible with the wonderful LED and rather old xD5 DLP chip. Its native contrast could be better. You see a bit of a washout in mixed content bight and dark scenes. This is a limitation of the dynamic iris used in this light engine.
I hope this factual information is useful in making an informed purchasing decision. Enjoy!"

What's not so great: Sound needs a Surround sound system

"I bought this TV about 6 months ago and feel this is the best TV I have ever owned better then Sony from a Picture quality and price. Only thing I Need is a Samsung Blu Ray Surround Sound System that I hope will come shortly. My biggest disapointment is that I didn't get the 65" TV instead as I was unaware that there was one and plan on making that my next purchase unless Samsung matches it and builds a 70 Inch TV Please Do Samsung!!"

"This TV is the best value you can get. Best price/screen size ratio.

If you have no real need for a flat panel, then this is your ONLY good option.

Remember: These DLPs do not have the large viewing angles that a LCD or plasma would."

What's not so great: The sound

"I bought this tv about 2 weeks ago and I wanted to let it set in before I reviewed it and I have to say it looks so much better in my living room than it did in the store after comparing this tv to an LG and Sony LCD tv, this one took the cake, my only gripe and I'm sure everyone else is the audio which is not something to tell your friends about but with a home theater it's a quick fix, but overall I'm very glad I bought this one"

What's great about it: Light weight, Outstanding picture, Excellent value
What's not so great: None at this time

"After several months of searching, had my choice down to 50" Pany Plasma & 52" Samsung LCD Series 7. When in Best Buy store 2863, and compared the Samsung LCD to the HL61A750 LED DLP. First off the pictures were very close in quality, second the Samsung was a 61" and third it was $900 less. The salesman, Guy S. was very helpful in explaining all the features of both sets. Three weeks later, there was a $200 price reduction and Best Buy made refund on price difference with no problems at all. Have had the TV for a month now and extremely pleased with it. Have it hooked up to BrightHouse cable HD. Regular and HD format comes across the TV great. Using an old DVD/VCR combo to play my older collection and again picture is very good in their presentation. Watching sports - football, soccer, etc there is no stutter-flutter on fast action, its great. Using the Wii system is great on the 61" screen. At time of purchase wasn't sure about purchasing the calibration, but decided to do so, After 100 hours of use had it calibrated, and really recommend you consider doing the calibration. What an education in watching the technician ,Cameron A. do his thing - very professional and really took the time to explain what he was doing. The set out of the box was very good, but excellent after the calibration. One thing that was corrected, the Gray Scale Color Temperature is supposed be be close to 6500K. This set from the factory was HOT, readings running from 15981 up to 27692K. After calibration readings were between 6412 and 6601K - set running much cooler and saving electricity. If you don't need it hung on a wall, this DLP is an outstanding purchase and looks teriffic in our living room on a 70" walnut console. You will not be unhappy with this purchase. Also, since it has the LED and not tube and color wheel, you won't have the potential bulb problem expense popping up."
