What's great about it: It is very cheap, and the audio quality is way better than ipods and other mp3s
What's not so great: nothing. Its what I expected and wanted..

I love this MP player. So easy to load my songs to it. The sound is great and the controles are easy to use and understand. Great product.
What's great about it: Sound Quality, Cheeper than IPOD and just as easy to use.
What's not so great: I have found nothing wrong with unit. Only problem is with Rhapsody on line.

I bought the Sansa Fuze for my wife for Christmas. Initially she had wanted an iPod Nano, but after comparing the feature sets and the price points, and showing her amazonmp3 as a comparison to iTunes, I persuaded her to give the Fuze a try. (She was not interested in the camera on the new Nano, which is not present on the Fuze.)
So far so good! I picked up some slotRadio cards for her as well and they work very easily, although you can't dink with the playlists on them or back up to hear a song that has already played...kind of like real radio where someone else decides what to play. But you can skip a song you don't like and there are no commercials. I suppose that limited functionality is the tradeoff for getting 1000 songs for less than fifty bucks.
Regarding the Fuze itself, one slight hitch was that the headphones really have to be pushed firmly to get them all the way into the jack...once you do that, the sound is great, but if you don't have them clicked in all the way, you get sound that is OK at first but then starts to get fuzzy. So there's a free tech tip for you.
Also, we are a household that uses Linux, and once I set the Fuze's USB mode to "MSC" instead of "Auto Detect", the Fuze was quickly found and handled properly by Ubuntu 9.10. It shows up as a mass storage device, so you can just copy files over normally, although Rhythmbox also recognizes it as a media player and can do the copying for you. (Same goes for the Sansa Clip.)
Supported file types for music include mp3, FLAC and Ogg Vorbis. My wife is an avid user of audible.com, which works on the Fuze too. In fact it was a snap, even with the manager software running on WinXP inside vmware on top of Linux. Also, I have reconfirmed that the amazon mp3 downloader works great on Linux.
Supported file types for video are more limited...but you can Google "video4fuze" to find a nice free program that will convert most video types to something that you can drag and drop onto the fuze. Converting some home movies shot on our digital camera was a breeze.
The UI is nice and easy, or at least it was once we realized the circle can be rotated as well as clicked inward. I'm sure most users who are more savvy with media players would try spinnning the wheel right away, so that's probably not a legitimate knock on the product...just pilot error.
Overall, I would say this product is a great value and performs nicely! I also got one for my six-year-old and she really likes listening to music and audiobooks, and has shown several friends the Big Buck Bunny movie I put on it for her. (Google it...it's a great little animated short!) My three-year-old, meanwhile, loves her Sansa Clip. After the fun I had getting the two gift Fuzes ready, I had to take my Christmas money and get myself a Fuze. The four stars on the durability are because I've already managed to scratch the screen. My fault, but still a bummer.
What's great about it: Great feature set and nice price, works with Linux
What's not so great: Haven't found docking speakers for its connector

This was a Christmas present to my 11 year old so I was a bit worried that it would be too complicated for her to use, but that has not been a problem. She loves it. I was able to get it from her long enough to listen to it briefly and it sounds great. It is small enough to fit in just about any pocket (roughly the size of a credit card) and seems to be sturdy enough. The screen has stayed scratch free. So far, this has been a great gift.
What's great about it: Easy for my 11 year old to use, great price

It is a nice little player for the price. It actually can be considered a 16g player since you can load another 8g micro chip into it as well.
Holds plenty of tunes, pics, video too. Also has an FM tuner which is nice.
What's great about it: It's easy to load music, has a nice battery life and is easy to navigate through apps.
What's not so great: wish it came in more colors like the 4g Fuze

Bought two, both died different deaths... one at 3 weeks, the other at 1 week.
One wouldn't turn on after less than 3 weeks. With the other, the screen went white and wouldn't turn off after just 1 week!
Had Sansa m250s that still work after 3 years. I really liked the Fuze but the hardware has serious issues. I'm going to try the Sony E345.
What's great about it: Size, screen, sound, ease of use
What's not so great: Bought 2... neither one lasted more than 3 weeks

I bought this as a gift for someone and put videos on it from dvds. After figuring out the software required and figuring out that you need a special sansa converter, the videos ended up just fine. The menu was easy to scroll through and it was easy enough to manipulate the mouse thing. I love that you can add a memory card to it, it makes it even less expensive than other comparable products that don't allow an added memory card.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Everything is just fine so far

I was unable to use it for videos. There was no loaded software & the downloaded software was full of bugs. I spent 2 days trying to get downloaded software and the available patches & fixes/work arounds to work on 2 different PCs. Problems included failure to load; frequent program hangs and intermittant PC hangs. The Sansa support siite was no help and the user forum was full of bug reports & complaints that mirrored the problems I was having. I returned it to BestBuy.
What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: no loaded software, download software full of bugs, unable to use for videos

First of all, the sansa fuze 8gb's price is awesome for this kind of mp3 player. You get a lot for 89 bucks too. I am really impressed with its battery life, and its great sound quality and yes, the earbuds that come with it have great sound. I also like the fact that it has a microSD card slot in it. This is great compared to something like an iPod because on the sansa fuze, if you run out of memory, just buy a microSD card and you instantly expand the player's memory. You can also use the microSD slot for those slot radio cards, but I had to run a firmware update to enable the slot radio feature. Pictures seem to work fine on it, and videos are good too, only they have to be in the MPEG-4 file format. The voice recorder is great and the FM radio works good too. You can record from FM radio as well as the built in microphone.
I, however, dislike the fact that the entire front of the player is glossy, as it scratches and smudges VERY easily. I also had a little problem getting the computer to recognize the player. For those of you who may be having difficulty connecting the player to your computer, on the sansa player, choose settings on the main menu, then system settings, USB mode, and select MSC. That's how I fixed the problem.
Altogether, I am happy with this mp3 player and the problems are only minor and the USB one is easily fixable.
What's great about it: Great sound quality, low price, battery life
What's not so great: screen smudges/scratches easily, usb problem

This player is great alternative to iPod Nano, also it's equivalent to it.
This player does more than I expected, You can put pictures, and video also (but it takes too long to transfer especially big files, because you have to use a converter). You can listen to FM Radio, and you can record it if you want to.
This player also can be used as a hard drive. All you have to do is go to settings, system settings, then USB Mode. From there you can select MTP (acts as a media player/portable music), or MSC (acts as a hard drive/flash drive)
If you need more storage, then you can expand more storage up to 16/32GB using MicroSD/SDHC. There's also a special card called SlotRadio, and SlotMusic that you can buy to add 1,000 pre-selected music on your device.
So this device is like iPod Nano, but it has more features. I bought this device on the way to Vegas, and so far I liked it. If you have an older mp3 player.iPod and your wishing to upgrade, this is the thing for you.
What's great about it: You can expand it up to 16/32GB using Micro-SD/SDHC. More (see below)
What's not so great: Sometimes It crashes but a firmware update fixes it, picture(s)/video(s) takes too long to transfer due to conversion.

Turned player on and listened to a song preloaded on it for about 5 seconds, then it locked up. I reset it, then about 10 seconds later it locked back up. Did this about 6 times and gave up. Returning it tomorrow, and getting an actual IPOD. Should have spent the few extra bucks in the first place. Got what I paid for!
What's great about it: Sounded good for the 5 seconds it worked.
What's not so great: Locked up almost immediately.

I love Sansa mp3 players and hate ipods! I like that you can use subcription music, like Rhapsody and this player is the best for the price. Sansa has the best customer service also. You get a 1 year warranty if anything happens to the player during that time they will replace it with no hassles. We have 3 8GB Fuzes in my house and each has an 8GB micro card so we use Rhapsody and for 15 bucks a month we keep a ton of music on them and can delete or add tracks with ease. The players also come with fm players (you don't have to pay extra for the addition of radio!) and you can put videos on them. I think they are the coolest. Of course the memory is big enough for movies and what not like ipods, but who wants to walk around watching a movie on a tiny screen!!!
What's great about it: The price, ability to upgrade w/ microSD cards, ease of use
What's not so great: not much

Received as a Christmas gift in 2008. Still going strong in December 2009.
I must have received a good unit because it seems to work fairly well with the exception of three "crashes" where it stops playing and goes to a white screen, as was reported by other users on this site. When it comes to glitches, I found that a little patience helps and the firmware updates are useful as well. I was able to get the unit to respond again by sliding and holding the unit's power switch in the "on" position for a very long time (30 seconds or so). On another occasion connecting and disconnecting it from the computer helped reset the device. No problems since the October 2009 update. I rarely use the included Rhapsody software--I prefer to drag and drop music files directly into the music folder on the device via windows explorer. If you want custom playlists you need to use Rhapsody, which is not very easy to use. I also could not get videos that I added to the device to play the video track clearly (the image was severely hashed up). that may be an encoding problem. No worries, I don't intend to use it for videos. That is the extent of the problems I've encountered. Now on the plus side:
It works well and sounds fine. It is expandable to 16 GB and has distinct folders and features for music (shuffle, gain control) , podcasts (playback speed), and audiobooks (chapter mode). I use mine to store all three and it works well. I like to listen to the radio and the FM tuner is sensitive and clean sounding and has plenty of preset slots. The recorder is easy to use and records high quality audio in uncompressed .wav format-- so be careful to make plenty of room for recording those long lectures.
What's great about it: FM radio, recorder, long battery life, quality audio, content-specific features
What's not so great: Occasional crashes, Rhapsody is a dog. Imported videos did not play properly

I've had this product for not even a year and i've had to replace it twice. When it did work, it became slow once i got 600 songs. It also became slow as i was scanning. I'll admit, i'm pretty good with my electronics when it comes to not dropping them. I've had my one Mp3 for 6 years and never had a problem. Yes, it does have some nice features to it, but overall i won't get this brand of Mp3 again.

What's not so great: Slow, breaks easily, battery life, ect.

I purchased my first MP3 player, the Sansa Fuze, last December at Best Buy. One of the best selling features was the expandable memory. I purchased an additional 8GB SD card. It worked great up until one month ago. Then suddenly, it froze and I couldn't get it to shut off or do anything. I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for another Fuze. This one worked great for about a month and it froze up today. Before it crashed, the songs were distorted and then it just crashed with no warning. I took it back again to Best Buy and I exchanged it for a Sony Walkman S Series with 16GB internal memory. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed that I had trusted the Sansa product twice and both times it failed me.
I would not recommend the Sansa Fuze unless you are able to find one that isn't defective. I hope the Sony player works out a lot better. The return process at Best Buy was great!!
What's great about it: Easy to set up, expandable memory, good price, battery life
What's not so great: Crashes easily
