"I went into a couple electronics stores that have a wall of lcd and plasma tv's to compare and I simply looked for the one that had the best picture quality, then looked at size and price to find one that would fit for me. This was the tv I picked at all locations as having the best picture, the right size for the room it is in and by far the best price. I am very happy with this tv, it is awesome. I don't think you will find a better tv for the price, I liked this one better that tv's that cost hundreds more. Highly recommend."

"this is probably the best TV i have ever bought. I have had Panasonic, and Samsung before but neither of them had the same picture and sound quality as my Toshiba. the price was great in compare to other brands that offer similar quality. this TV is Great for gaming since it has a gaming mode that minimizes the delay."

"Toshiba TV is just as good as Sony or Samsung TV.I have purchased 4 different brands of TV in 15 years,the only one that still working is TOSHIBA TV,the color is still so sharp after all these years.With my other TV,the color just got faded."

What's great about it: crisp picture
What's not so great: viewing angle could be better

"i purchased this set a couple of months ago and have been more than impressed with it. i was looking at plasmas but i have just heard to many bad things so stuck with lcd. the picture right out of the box is great, i did however tweak it a bit just because thats usualy what i do. all sources look great especially xbox 360 and ps3. lot of people complain about the sound, you dont buy these thin lcd tvs and expect 5.1 surround, you get them then hook them up to a reciever or like me since its a bed room set up a sound bar & subwoofer. best tv for the money. i would definetly recomend."

"I compared alot of TV's online and in various stores. I liked the side by side picture better on some of the Sony's, but otherwise the Toshiba looked better than the others. Sound is OK but not great. One tip I have is to move the set away from the wall to improve its sound.
My wife liked the low profile form; even though it is 42" it is about the overall size of a 38"."

What's not so great: Digital Audio Out does not output digital audio signal

"Hooked up my new HDMI capable xbox360 to this TV. Good picture quality, however, when running the optical cable to my receiver (which does not have any HDMI inputs) I do not get a digital, surround sound signal. Called Toshiba and they tell me the TV is not designed to do that. Called Sony and Samsung and they say of course all their TVs do that, why would they not. Toshiba told me to buy a new receiver and run the HDMI through that in order to get my 1080p and 5.1 surround sound. HA! I don't want a new receiver, so I am stuck using 1080i component cables in order to keep the 5.1 digital surround sound. I could have saved myself some money and got a 1080i TV or spent a little more on a Samsung or Sony that would give me the 'expected' and even 'normal' capabilities that should have been included with this one."

If you like sports, get this tv 08/21/2008

"I researched a lot of LCD's in or around this price range. Did a ton of homework but the reviews of many others before me on this tv, and the vibrant colors that showed in the storeroom are what sold me. This tv is pretty sweet. If you like watching a lot of sports then it's perfect. I've watched the Olympics non stop on this thing and it's been awesome. Sox, Pats, colors look tight. You'll need to go through the Picture settings to get everything right but the end product is worth it. Throw in the fact that when you take it out of the box at home you'll laugh at how much bigger it seems than in the store (42"). Invest in a decent surround system and you won't want to miss a sporting event. Hope this helps."

Very good TV for the money 08/15/2008

What's great about it: Clear picture, many HDMI inputs, easy to use.
What's not so great: Poor sound quality.

"I bought this tv recently at Best Buy and got a pretty good deal on it at 850. For what I spent, I don't think I would have been able to do better, really. It's a top-notch 1080p tv without a top-notch price. I currently have my computer, xbox 360, and digital cable running through my receiver into here, and despite having to use component wires there (RGB) the quality is still great. My PS3 runs through HDMI direct to the TV, and while the video is pretty good, it really lacks in the sound quality department, which will lead to me spending a nice chunk of change to upgrade my reciever to one that supports HDMI.
All in all, this is a very solid TV for the HD fan on a budget. I'd gladly recommend this set to family and friends that ask about it."

Top Performance for Bottom Dollar 08/10/2008

"I feel no remorse at all after purchasing this TV. I did a lot of research and review after review led me to this gem. If you buy this you will not be disappointed. As for HD signals, this TV is as good as any HDTV I have seen. After adjusting a few settings, this picture is absolutely brilliant. Also a perfect size for a medium sized room. With SD content, it displays it as good as I have seen andy LCD display. Of course SD content looks better on a standard TV, but as for LCD, this is the cream of the crop. There are some really useful features for channel surfing, and the menus are very easy to use. I hooked up my XBOX 360 with the component cables, not HDMI, but it still looks very crisp and clear. I only gave this 4 stars because I can't yet give testimony to the durability, but so far so good after about a month. Audio is not great but a home theater system will be my next purchase. If you aren't picky about sound, it might not be a problem for you. If you are looking for a top notch LCD but don't want to spend top dollar, this TV is for you and it should not disappoint!"

"I would have to agree with the previous review, it's a great tv but experienced a similar issue with the audio. The volume seems to be a little off as if the speakers are in the back of the TV. Otherwise - it's a great TV, the picture quality is excellent. I would definitely recommend this tv to friends and family."

What's great about it: Great quality
What's not so great: Sound is sub par

"We love this TV. We bought the waranty package that covers any repairs that need to be made to the TV, but we haven't had to use it. We were worried that the pixels would burn out, but we've had the TV for 1 year and so far so good. The only thing is that the sound does not live up to the amazing picture quality. We bought a home theater system and hooked it up to get better sound."

"This is a great LCD TV - 1080p quality for an excellent price. In looking at the competitive TVs that typically cost hundreds more, I can't figure out what would make them worth the extra $$. We've had our Toshiba Regza for a little over two months now, and we are very happy with it."

"Got it home and hooked it up in less than 5 minutes. HDMI hookup ( 1 of 4 ) was a snap. I was watching my favorite baseball team in HD and was blown away with the picture. I must say that I really don't watch much television, but it is getting really easy to become a " couch potato " with this television."

What's great about it: good color and plenty of inputs.
What's not so great: the sound isn't really good. if you want better sound you will need a home theater.

"it looks good with everything that i hook up to it. the picture freeze function is really useless. i have surround sound and a dvd up converter which looks really good. the only thing that i found bad was the sound. the speakers aren't very strong."

What's great about it: Great picture, view angle, value to price ratio
What's not so great: Programmable remote only turns cable box on and off.

"I have found this TV to be better than I expected. It's difficult to compare screens in the store, so I did a lot of research before buying. This model had so many good reviews, I looked at it first. It had a better picture, to my eye, than some others at this size and price point. There were less expensive 42" models, but I found their pictures less impressive than this one. As I don't yet have HD service (I soon will), I found the SD picture far surperior to what I have had in the past. Old black and white movies are supurb on this set. I have not seen any motion blur yet. Plenty of inputs. VERY wide angle of view, both L/R and high/low. I am extremely happy with this purchace and would recommend this set without reservation."

What's great about it: Crisp picture, Decent sound, light for an LCD, lots of inputs

"I purchased this tv as my first HDTV after extensive research. This tv has lived up to the price and quality. I installed this TV to a wall mount and the fact that the back was flat, it was easy to mount the brackets. The tv being only 42 lbs made me feel more secure about the mounting.
The TV has fantastic picture quality on all HD sources, and from others i have seen, has a better viewing quality for non HD sources. The ability to expand the picture on non-HD sources is nice and while im sure is standard, was a nice feature.
The PC input is great and the tv has plenty of expansion slots for up to 4 HDMI cables.
I would recommend this TV over some of the samsungs that are 40" and the same price or more"
