What's great about it: easy and clear screen
What's not so great: would like to have the commerical routes included for rv travel
bought this as an update to the current model that we use in our rv travel mostly. the previous model did not have the voice activation regarding the upcoming streets. We have used it once already and it was terrific, it is clear speak and large screen which makes it very easy to understand where I was headed, especially since I was traveling alone. I would like to have the commerical routes available on this model since my truck does have commerical plates on it.

What's not so great: Compared to TomTom - everything
Purchased for a gift. Took out of box and setup was complicated. Features were not impressive. Size of unit was way oversized.
Returned it to store for credit and purchased a TomTom with many more features, much easier to set up, and less money.

What's great about it: Easy to use; intelligent routing, easy programming, easy to update firmware.
What's not so great: None noted yet.
This replaces an older Magellan, and I'm really glad I did it. This one is much more intelligent in routing and adjusting to deviations that I take from its planned route.
I found that the firmware can be updated without disturbing the address book, which was a fear that I had.
The display is highly readable, both in daylight and dark. I leave it set to automatically switch display at sundown--and it's right on time.

What's great about it: Easy to use, clear voice directions, great 3D screen, large enough to see without straining
What's not so great: Nothing yet
I had an Acura RL which was totaled in an accident and I needed a quick replacement. The RL had a navigation system built in, but the replacement didn't. So I bought the Magellan 5310. The Magellan is in my opinion far superior to the system built into my RL, and far superior to a Garmin hand held I have. The Magellan couldn't be simpler to use, and the learning curve is about five minutes at most. The voice commands are clear, and the volume is easily adjusted (I have no idea why some people said it is too loud and can't be adjusted). The screen is large, and the 3D images are very clear and easy to read with only a quick glance. In addition, I was surprised that it seems very well made and certainly no flimsier feeling than the Garmin I have. Overall it seems like a great product for those who want a navigation aid that doesn't also play music, clean the floors, or feed the dog.

What's great about it: 5 inch widescreen, traffic enabled, lots of great options for the price
What's not so great: nothing wrong so far!
I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday. its sleek design and big display and easy to use keys make it a great product. I shopped around and even tested out ones in the stores, but this one was way worth it for the price, that others had and didnt have traffic and had smaller screens. its great!

What's great about it: Very accurate and reliable
What's not so great: Battery life
Received as a gift for father's day. Called Magellan for map update. They sent me the May 2009 map update for a $10 shipping fee. Also received a 2 year warranty by being a AAA member. The map and device is accurate and reliable. I am going to buy another for my daughter. I am extremely satified! I don't use it for non automobile use so the short battery life is not an issue.

What's great about it: easy to use, easy to store frequently used addresses, loud enough to hear
I have had my Magellan Maestro for 2 years and fondly called her Rhonda. She was easy to program, easy to store addresses, and I liked the way she rerouted instantly if I took a wrong turn. There was always a choice to avoid highways or toll roads, or say, "just get me there the fastest way possible!" Sadly, on my most recent business trip, my rental car was broken into and Rhonda was kidnapped. I will have to replace her right away, but there will always be only one Rhonda. But I will buy another Magellan Maestro. My husband has a TomTom and I hate it - I cannot hear the darn thing even on the loudest setting. Rhonda always (well mostly) spoke clearly and warned me in plenty of time whenever I need to turn or exit. All my friends and business associates really loved Rhonda. Yes, I would highly recommend the Magellan to anyone, friend or foe.

What's great about it: Easy to use, accurate
What's not so great: Nothing so far
I don't know what people are talking about with it can't find anything or the temperature breaks it. I've left it in my car when its 105 out and it works just fine. Furthermore, when it can't find an address its usually cause the city you picked doesn't match the zip code or that zip code has multiple cities. Granted in the Points of Interest menu not everything you search comes up but it will find any address I've ever put in. For example, there have been some restaurants it will not find by name, but if I put in the physical address it finds it just fine.
I've had mine for over a year and its been a life saver for me on so many levels. The coolest part about this one is that if you miss a turn it will automatically reroute itself. Furthermore, it will automatically switch into a night mode type display when the sun starts going down.

What's great about it: Large Screen
What's not so great: Poor Route Mapping
I would not buy another Magellan product after this purchase. Customer Service merely quoted policy on map updates ($79.95) rather than honor the 30 day update guarantee. No map updates for this model were available at the time of purchase. Also, Magellan failed to email me with notifications of map, software, and firmware updates. Do not be fooled, Magellan will not honor the 30 day guaranteed map update if none is available for your model at the time of purchase and one becomes available after the 30 day window expires. The Maestro had difficulty mapping out routes and would often times try and reroute me several miles off a shorter route. Fastest and Most use of Freeway Options were not accurate often times trying to reroute me when it was not necessary. Three additional voices were downloaded to the Maestro 5310 but, you cannot gain access to them. Overall this product has poorly written routing algorithms. I will be scrapping this GPS and moving onto a TomTom or Garmin.

What's not so great: Battery failure
Magellan does not back its warranty if you purchase from ebay - even if it is new in box.
Warranty does not state that, but that is their policy.
Good reason to buy from a retailer at least for the warranty period - however the product should have a better life expectancy.
Battery failed after only 6 months.
Display is fragile
I had the 4350 model but production should be similar to this model
Choose another brand.

What's great about it: so easy to use you don't need to look at the instruction disc w/ all the warnings.
What's not so great: fragile screens crack in mild PA temps and rude curt company managers with no explinations for indurability of product
I will never purchase anything from this company again as the products are not well made and company is not easy to work with. RUN

What's great about it: Big screen / bright / good sound / clear / easy to use
What's not so great: as all GPS's POI's are a little dated / short battery life
I have tried them ALL.. This one is the best for the money... do some research - I paid 250.00 for it..
overall - very user friendly, easy to use - and add favorites..
can link to a computer - big plus if you want to make your own POI's..
Bright screen / slim / loud voice..
* important feature - warns before the actual turn
quick re-route...
here are some that i tried - nextar/sony/garmin/tomtom
Magellon - Magellon - not the easiest- but the least annoying. and clearest screen - loudest voice too
