What's great about it: Graphics, story, combat
What's not so great: Loads of texture problems, LOTS of bugs.

"I'll start by saying I was not a very big fan of the first game. I finished it, spat on the multiplayer, gave it a 6/10 and went on my way.

And while the multiplayer is still pretty horrible (excluding Horde mode) i was very surprised by the campaign.

The vague, empty storyline of the first game is drastically continued upon. The game touches on where the locust come from, why they are fighting, and even a nice little twist toward the end.

The story is just as nice on the human side. Jacinto, the last human stronghold, is under threat. Its up to Delta Squad to go into Locust territory and stop whatever it is that is sinking all the cities. On top of that, Dom's wife Maria is missing, and Delta squad is trying to find her. It adds a needed human touch the game.

The enviornments are awesome...much, much, MUCH, better then the first game. There is actually a sense of epicness and scope, something that the first game lacked.

That being said, the lead developer, Cliffy B, stated "Gears of War 2 will be bigger and more bad a** then the first one" And while thats true, its like comparing chocolate to sour milk. While I wouldn't exactly call Gears of War 2 "Bad a**" Its still a very nicely done game. Just stay away from the multiplayer, and its dreadful matchmaking system.

"when i bought gears of war it was awaome. when i had heard of gears of war 2 i went out and bought the day after christmas. it was the best game ever. in my top three favorite games it would be the first and then cod4 and then codwaw. the campain is really fun and with two people it is even better. my friend came over and we played it. he didnt like the first one at all but when he played this one he felt so guilty because he loved it so much. this is probably going to be the game of the year and a must own."

"This game has a kick butt campaign, that being said the multiplayer online is significantly lacking. Multiplayer is a mess with tons of lag and long loading times. Overall one of my favorite games for the 360, don't know if I would want to pay $60 though."

What's great about it: The Online Game-Horde
What's not so great: Campaign, Online play

"I loved this game for the first few days that I played it. But there are WAAAY more cons then pros in GoW2

The campaign is extremly!!!!!!!!!!! Short. I beat it unexpectedly in about a week when I only played about an hour a day. The final level is the easiest part of the game. It is slightly difficult along the way, but a very dissappointing campaign.

The online play is horrible. Im not sure whether not enough people have this game or what. But it takes on average about 10 minutes to find a match. I usually begin search, than go watch tv for awhile, then comback. The worst part is: after an online game ends, there isnt a lobby to stay in after for another game, so you have to go through the WHOLE process all over again!!!

The only thing I like about it is the mode Horde. Which is fun over and over again, and the best part is: if you play with friends there is NO WAIT!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!.

Overall I gave up with GoW2 and am now playing Call of Duty World at War (which I recommend)"

What's great about it: Great Graphics,Campaign is really fun and is even better with co op.
What's not so great: Extremely laggy online, Matchmaking is broken and takes way too long, Host is still here and it's even worse now.

"I had a huge hype for this game since Epic promised a bigger, more epic sequel.This is partially true.The campaign is great, even amazing at times, and is even better with a partner.The scenery is definitely bigger and you will be fighting more locust than usual thanks to the engine upgrade. However, the multiplayer is just disappointing. Unless your host, which is random now, every game contains lag and at times its just incredible.Also the matchmaking is broken and breaks you with your party every now and then. It takes ages to join a match by yourself as well. Unless you like games with unpredictable lag, I recommend passing on this and getting World at War or Halo 3 if you haven't yet."

What's great about it: everything is great, but Horde is unbelieavable!!!
What's not so great: online can be laggy

"so i own over 50 games on xbox 360 and this is by far in my top 3 of video games ever played, starting number 1 fallout3 #2 is gears 2 and #3 old reliable Halo3. Gears 2 is amazing the graphics are the best ive seen on a game. the carreer is great the multiplayer is great with the exception a laggy feeling and a long wait time to find a party. but one thing stood out to me in this game, And that is Horde, horde alone made this game worth the 75$ i payedfor for the unlimited game, if you do not have live, get this game any way, i have devoted at least 100 hours to playing horde online and offline!!! if you are going to get 3 releativly new games my suggestions would be Gears 2, fallout 3( RPG) and Grandtheft auto four. now Listen to me everyone who reads this.. DO NOT GET CALL OF DUTY WORLD AT WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! by far the worst most dissapointiing game i have ever played. biggest waste of 60 bucks EVER!!!!!!!! do not buy it!!!!!!!!!!!! youll be better of with ANYTHING!!! than that game... SERIOUSLY DONT GET cod world at war. personaly call of duty 1 was better!!!!!!!!! o and the limited edition for gears 2 is amazing get it if you can!"

What's great about it: The storyline, the different ways you can kill a downed enemy, horde is addictive for me
What's not so great: Sometimes a little lag on live, THEY GOT RID OF THE BERSERKER!?!?!

"I loved the game. The storyline was great, the weapons are awesome, and its cool to kill a downed man in different ways. The chainsaw battles are fun, Horde is amazing (well for me).
The downsides, theres a little lag here and there on live, but it really doesnt effect me that much. Also, wth Epic?! why take out the berserker?? they were fun to fight in the first one and i was hoping to fight them again!"

"I like everything about Gears of War 2. Way better than Gears of War 1. I bought CoD5 thinking it would be better than GoW2. My god was I wrong! CoD5 was a huge let down. What's great about it: The feeling you get when you literally blow your enemies to pieces, good story, etc.
What's not so great: online lag (sometimes), other things that could be fixed with patches

"Gears of War 2 is similar to halo 3 in one way; it's one of those landmark games that people will remember forever. It has very few things to complain about (but the things you can complain about, everybody does). The main thing I hear complained about is the lag. People new to the game find that Gears 2 has massive lag, but they haven't seen nothing until they've seen the lag in Gears 1. But actually, I rarely have lag. People who have played Gears of War 1 usually complain that Epic screwed up the shotgun. (I have Gears 1, and) I think they fixed it, because I was constantly watching my head come off because of stupid people who roll everywhere with their shotgun out.
On the good side, the new Gears has many new things to offer. Some of the new stuff in Gears 2 include Horde, stopping power, a new downing system, and many changes to weapons (damage, accuracy, etc). I'm not going to explain all this stuff because it would take forever, so go to their website or youtube for more info.
It's actually hard to explain why Gears of War is such a good game. Like I said at the top, I love "the feeling you get when you literally blow your enemies to pieces." I wish they added a few more chainsaw animations (like a beheading kind of thing). If that's too intense, you can always turn off the blood. Oh yeah, I forgot about the enemies. I LOVE what Epic has added to the enemy arsenal. In Gears 1, all you fought (for the most part) was drones, wretches, and a few boomers and theron guards; Nothing special. But in Gears 2, there's masses of new enemies; butchers, grinders, grenadiers, reavers, tickers, "cyclops", and some other things I can't remember the name of. I could go on for a while, but reading the whole thing would get boring.
In short, Gears of War 2 is DEFINITELY a game you should get. One problem is that it's so bloody, many parents don't allow it (I see where they're coming from). If you can get your hands on this, by all means, buy it. When I rated this game, and noticed that everything has 5 stars, I was like, "That can't be right." But it is; this game is five star quality. It is BY FAR a better game than Call of duty world at war (but it's competitive with COD4). I haven't played Halo 3 since I got this game, and mainly because people's heads don't come off in Halo."

What's not so great: downgraded some of the weapons, gears1 is better

"this game is awsome! but there is some issues with it. the shotgun used to be awsome but they took down the power and the how fast it shoots. and when someone revs up there chain saw you can no longer stagger them so they will just keep coming. the revolver is no longer that cool because you cant blow off limbs. hammer of dawn now has ammo, and the sniper isnt as accurate. it is very anoying because sometimes ull be having a good match and then the host will quit and so u dont get any points that match.
other than those issues the game is geat. the new modes are fun. the new executions are awsome, the boss battles in sigle player are more fun.

pick this game up
and also if havent already, buy the first gears of war, you enjoy that maybe even more"
