What's great about it: It's very fun, Pretty sick guns. I love the shotty and the sniper <3 Fun things to kill
What's not so great: It's pretty great, but looking forward to a bigger selection of guns for GEARS 3

What's great about it: it's GEARS!!!
"This is GEARS 2!!! GEt this. In my personal opinion, not quite as good as the first gears but you need to get it..... it's hard to beat the first gears, so just because I say that this one isn't as good doesn't mean you shouldn't get it!"

What's great about it: Campaign, Horde with Friends.
What's not so great: Online multiplayer if laggy
"Gears of war 2, This game is a must for massive collection. The campaign is challenging and somewhat intense. In short the higher the difficulty the more difficult. If you are playing with a Friend than it is a fun game depending on cooperative. The online multiplayer is fun but if players do not have a reliable than the fun is toned down when the massive amounts of lag come in. Horde with other players or with your friends can be fun too. overall the game its self is fun but can get a little tiring."

Gears of war one is a better game

What's great about it: the campaign thats about it oh and the party system is decent.
What's not so great: multiplayer, the shotgun, maps lag, randomness, choppy gameplay
"Remember this is coming from a guy that stood in line the night of the release of this game...the multiplayer is a joke because they changed it completely from gears one which messed up everything especially one on one combat. Its constantly choppy and if you don't wanna play the same four-five maps online you have the shell out about $30. This game doesn't take much skill so if you are casual gamer you might like it but people who take serious such as myself find this game a absolute failure. The game was rushed the only good parts are in the campaign. The melees online are so random and the shots I just wouldn't recommend to anyone...wait for new call of duty game for a shooter. I mean it use to be terrible when it first came out they have fixed a few things it just doesn't cut it for me."

Great Online and not online game

What's great about it: If you don't have a gold membership you can play with bots so it's exactly like if you were playing online
What's not so great: There isn't much wrong with it..just bloody and graphic
"Amazing game online with friends, great storyline, and has bots which can play in multiplayer. Very well made shooter. You get to attack the locusts where it hurts so go get em."

Decent futuristic war game

What's great about it: Co-op, Horde mode
What's not so great: Enemy difficulty, story
"So overall, this game isn't too bad. The story leaves much to be desired, but that's not what I play this game for. This is simply a balls to the wall gorefest.
There is a good range of weapons in the game from pistols and machine guns to grenade launchers and flamethrowers. Your most used gun will likely be the Lancer, a semi-automatic rifle with a chainsaw in place of a bayonet. It's the most versatile gun in the game, with the chainsaw perfect for taking out enemies up close.
The story didn't draw me in too much. There's some heartbreak and "twist" moments, but nothing that I didn't expect might happen. Some of the enemies you face are simply annoying (i.e. wretches), especially when the game throws about 20 at you and they're all easily killed. The final boss is incredibly easy, as long as you can hold your trigger finger down you've won half the battle (the other half being to wait a couple minutes). And don't get me wrong, some of the Locust are a pain to take down, but as long as you've got a wall to stay behind, you won't be in any immediate danger.
The redeeming quality of this game is being able to play in Co-op mode and take on the hordes of enemies with a friend. Another would be... well... Horde mode!, where you fight against increasingly difficult and numerous waves of Locust.
In the end I'd just say rent it, or play it with a friend who owns it (like me)."

"Can't wait for three! Amazing game. Must have. Fun online but is very hard and weird at first. I quit playing online but you might like it. Half way first person, halfway second person view. A halfbody view. That's not second person, that would be seeing your front. Like when you run to the bottom of the screen on an rpg free-roam game."

"Honestly, it is a really good campaign and has AMAZING graphics .... but I wouldn't play the multiplayer unless you have alot of time to kill, the match finding system takes forever. I average about 3-5+ minutes to find each match."

What's great about it: It's Gears of War. Do you need to know more?
What's not so great: Cheaters on xbox live, lag switchers.
"This game is truly the only game you need. I am so hooked on it I have to play it every night. Since the new ranking system went in effect I can't get enough experience points. This is the best multiplayer game to date in my opinion. I love Shadowrun and Halo but it just don't measure up to Gears. The gameplay, controls, maps, weapons, graphics and anything I forgot to mention totally rock. If you don't own this game please give it a try to see what next gen gaming is all about."

What's great about it: Co-op, Campaign, Graphics, Horde.
What's not so great: Competitive Multiplayer, Smoke Grenades and glitchers(!!!).
"Man, I hate it when developers give in to the whining of all the people who suck at their game. I love Gears of War. I do. The setting, the graphics, the gore, the co-op, the innovation, it's great. I used to play the first one online all the time. I really enjoyed playing a smaller scale, more tactical online shooter with a good cover system and unique weapons. However it seems Epic gave in to all the people who hated their game because the second one feels broken. Forget the tight tactical gameplay. Online matches consist of laggy glitchy Call of Duty-like skirmishes where you spend half your time on the ground because everyone, and I mean everyone abuses the smoke grenades. It's ridiculous. In Gears 1 it took a lot of skill and a little luck to get kills. Gears 2 has taken the noob-friendly Call of Duty approach and made a chaotic, no skill needed killfest that just isn't any fun. I wanted to go back to the first one like most of the hardcore Gears fanbase has. Now, the campaign and co-op blew me away. Very well done. And horde is a blast to play with a few good friends. But Epic took my favorite online Xbox 360 game and ruined it. So I rate this game 3 stars."

What's great about it: Online Multiplayer, Co-Op
What's not so great: Glitchy especially online, Host advantage is waaay too strong online.
"This is one of the funnest games I have ever played...something about blowing someones head off with a shotty never gets old. There are a lot of glitches which are becoming less all the time...the newest one is ammo glitching online where you get twice the ammo and grenades.
People sit around and find ways to cheat on this game which takes some of the fun out of it, other than that the campaign mode is fun especially with a friend, I even got my girlfriend to play it with me and enjoyed it.
Anyone with a 360 over the age of 12 should have this game....this is pretty much the only game I play. I bought that new SOCOM Confrontation for the PS3 and after playing it I realized just how good Gears really is!!!"
