What's great about it: clean sound, easy setup (if not running wires to cabin)
What's not so great: you have to start up a playlist on the Ipod to get things going

"I picked up the ISBM72 for my 2000 BMW M Roadster. It works, but the demo (accessible via the Bestbuy website when you click on the professional installation link, then 'how it works,' then 'ipod demo') is a bit misleading. That demo implies full functionality of the ipod via the head unit, which at least for me isn't the case. I have to start a playlist on the Ipod, then the head unit allows me to skip forward and back through that playlist. I can't initiate Ipod play through my head unit. A call to Peripheral's tech support confirmed that this is the way the ISBM72 is designed - he also added that the product in the demo 'is a different unit.' I don't know what other units there could be besides variations of the ISBM72 for different model cars - the links are pretty self-explanatory ("how it works/Ipod demo"). In any event, I equate it to having to open the trunk to change out a changer's CDs, so it's not a dealkiller, but it would be nice if I could just leave the Ipod alone in the trunk without having to fiddle with it to get things going. Of course this would be resolved if I ran the long cable up to my cabin and connected the Ipod up there but I don't want to go through that hassle and I like having the Ipod locked away in the trunk as my car's a convertible. I've heard that the DICE Silverline BMW Ipod integration unit offers more of what I'm looking for (can initiate play from the head unit, plus playback info on the head unit's display) so I may get that in the future but this Peripheral unit will work for now. Overall I have what I'm after - Ipod wired integration with my factory head-unit - just not the complete head-unit driven functionality that would make this a 5-star review."

What's great about it: Works as expected - Perfect - Clear - Great controls
What's not so great: Charging doesn't work with 3G yet - new cable coming

"I have tried every darn iPod / iPhone intergration tool for my 2000 X5 and while many of them work, they are poor quality in general.
This product is just great. I was a little skeptical at first but I did the professional installation at Best Buy (90 mins, well done, value priced) and have loved the unit ever since.
Turning on the radio turns on the iphone and the same behavior for turning off, radio off, stops playback on the iphone.. Excellent fidelity, no static, works great.
I don't normally leave reviews but felt compelled with this product.."
