What's great about it: OUTSTANDING picture (running 1440x900) What's not so great: big-ish, fit inside my eMachine case just fine though
"What can you say.... if you don't have a video card you need to go buy this one in the next 30 min or so. I installed it in my eMachine (T5246) that comes with the AMD Athelon 64 processor and they play great together. I play WOW and have all the settings maxed out with no headaches. I the card looks GREAT and preforms just the same... MAKE SURE YOU USE THE DVI CABLE TO HOOK IT UP!!! I started with the VGA to DVI adapter that comes with the card and was a little disappointed in my purchase. I switched to the DVI cable and OMG the thing just woke up!"

AWESOME CARD

By JPP001from Blue Springs, Mo
What's great about it: Awesome Power, runs cooler than I expected, excellent graphics What's not so great: That my mo-bo is not sli ready
"I first bought a Nvidia 9600gt, exchanged it for a 8800gt and after struggling with Nvidia's vista driver issues I returned the 8800gt and bought this card. I plugged it in case, updated drivers and have been gaming for 3 hours straight without a hiccup. This card is a powerhouse, I am currently playing City of Heroes on max setting and temps are running at 58c. I may be one of the few who have troubles with Vista and Nvidia not playing nice, but all I know is this card LETS ME PLAY without having to rollback drivers, download quick fixes from Microsoft etc... Nvidia may be "better" on paper but in the real world of Vista, ATI works!"

My first ATI desktop card

By Moonstarfrom Georgia
What's great about it: Easy install, great tech support! What's not so great: hmm...I don't know, it could glow blue or something but whatever this thing ROX!
"I've been running a BFG 6800GT OC since December 2004, and when I saw this deal I jumped on it. My FPS didn't change much (stupid Celeron processor) but the level of detail in my games did. I love it. Also, I know some people like to research stuff like this before buying it. Yes there is a forum stating this style card has a big cooling issue. These are not those cards! They are the revision that came with the fixed BIOS so they cool absolutely perfectly. Heck mine hasn't topped 50* C yet."

What's great about it: Its close to my bfg 9800gtx at 1/3 of the price What's not so great: Now I'm hungry for 3 more cards...Crossfire X
"Bought this card to put in my other computer (I have 3 gaming pc's) and WoW!!! Better than I thought. I own the bfg 9800 gtx, evga 8800 gts 320, Ati x1950pro and this card. And let me tell you this is right up there with my 9800 gtx and definetly faster than my 8800 and its so cheap right now. I swapped out my 9800 gtx with this ati 3870 and it also is playing Crysis on very High dx 10 2x aa 1280*768 and 1440*900 no problems what so ever. My 9800 gtx does get some more fps but that was $350 vs $130. Age of conan runs about the same too and every other game so far has no problem all settings maxed! After messing around with my pc's I noticed you really need 4 gigs ddr2 and a dual core cpu or better to max crysis out with any card. My one pc only has a pentium 4 2.8, 3gigs ddr1 and none of these cards I mentioned will perform like it does on my main pc, trust me it will lag too much(bottlenecked) My Conclusion....Buy it, Buy it, Buy it This is an awesome graphics card. And maybee 2 of them for crossfire this will Crunch Crysis on very high settings."

What's great about it: Quiet What's not so great: none...yet
"My computer died so I wanted to buy a new one. I wanted to upgrade from the ATI HD2400XT that the desktop came with and this was a good easy decision. It tripled my 3DMARK score. My Windows index, went from 3.7 to 5.9.
I wish I could have customized everything from the ground up, but this should keep me busy for now. I will buy Crysis soon and give a whirl. I haven't stressed the card yet, but I recommend a bigger case and more fans than I have (midtower). Good card for the money.

What's great about it: Increased my performance index to 5.0 (CPU is holding me back), Better performance in games, and quiet What's not so great: Had to swap cases out due to the width of the card
"The only reason I had to swap cases was because the fan shroud would not pass through the case opening (Qpack case MicroATX). It wasn't a really big issue since I had a thermaltake case in reserve. Other than swapping cases the installation went smoothly and it runs really good. Windows Performance Index rated my computer from a 4.7 (limit was the graphics performance with aero) to a 5.0 (new limit is the cpu). In games, since im a simple FFXI player I got a huge boost of almost 1200 in the High benchmark on the FFXI benchmark utility using the latest catalyst drivers from ATI. Sims 2 runs even more smoothly with no lag in the University with Seasons installed. The same boost was felt in HL2, Lost Planet, and Oblivion. I would highly recommend this to my friends, but a forewarning needs to go out to anyone with the QPack cases that the card will not slide through the opening. System Info: CPU - AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600+ Mem - 2x 512mb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800mhz Vid - VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 3870 512mb GDDR4 Sound - On board RealTek HD Audion HDD1 - Seagate 7200rpm 250gb SATA HDD2 - Hatachi Deskstar 7200rpm 160gb SATA DVD - Pioneer 16x DVD+/-RW Monitor - HP f1905 19" LCD (connected via DVI) OS - Windows Vista Premium Home Edition x64"

What's great about it: Great framerates in all games, quiet, powerful, smooth picture What's not so great: Very big, gets hot without tweaking the fan
"This card is really powerful for the price. Definitely worth the money and more bang for your buck. Since its over-clocked at the factory, I get about 100+ fps on many games without over-clocking, including Half-Life 2, Counter Strike Source and Call of Duty 4 just to name a few. You'll be able to run games at considerably high resolutions like 1680x1500 with still fantastic performance. Although, if you want the best performance, get RivaTuner (free GPU tweaking tool) to tweak the GPU fan so it runs at least at 80% since out of the box it runs only at 23% which causes the card to get hot quickly when the GPU is under load. Other than the typical fan issue which can be solved in about 5 minutes, this is definitely a great buy."

What's great about it: WoW! it is a super card, rock solid frame rates and impressive.... most impressive. What's not so great: it is a big card! otherwise .... NONE!!
"After much investigating, i decided to purchase this card. I was concerned about the size of the card in my system, and indeed it was a tight fit in the acer case (computer from Best Buy as well); but it worked from the first boot on my Vista system. detected perfectly, i downloaded the updated drivers and away i went. The card was so massive, that it seated itself with little pressure during install. Be sure and keep an adjacent slot clear as this card is two slots wide!"

What's great about it: great price, cool look, and allowed very high res on crysis at 1680:1200!!! What's not so great: In order to use to use crossfire you ned a 790 motherboard
"I got two of these and they are great! they are already overclocked slightly but with the software that comes with it you can push it alot further even witht he standard cooling! two of these cards in crossfire are amazing , all i can say was OH SNAP! These cards allowed me to play crysis full 1680:1200 on very high res without any lag. I would recommend these cards even over the 9800GTX"

What's great about it: Direct X 10.1, Faster than other OEMs using same chipset, Stable, Quiet, Cool temperature & looks. What's not so great: Large - 10" long plus 1" for power connector
"After extensively researching on the internet for two weeks, I selected this card and bought it @ Best Buy for peace of mind if there was a problem. Research and available funds lead me to select a 512MB mid-range card. I was deciding between this card and the GeForce 8800GT and 9600GT. I read all the tech reviews and analyzed benchmarks at multiple sites as well as reading numerous customer reviews from NewEgg.com. In the end I picked this card for the following reasons: - Most stable of all ATI OEMs and both NVIDIA cards (based on customer reviews) - Fastest HD3870 of all OEMs (OverClock option of 840 GPU and 2340 memory comes as a standard with no need for an OverClock utility). The heat sink assembly is larger than the other OEMs and made of copper (w/heat pipes) for better heat transfer. - Most quiet of HD3870s due to a larger and slower speed fan. The fan cover exhausts the warm air out the second slot so my inside case temperature stays cool enough to keep the CPU, power supply, and case fan speeds slow for a virtually silent computer. - The HD3870 has a low power mode, so I don't waste energy and generate excess heat running the 3D GPU at full power when I'm using 2D applications like Internet Explorer. - Even though the 8800GT has faster frame rates in most games, once you get past a certain rate there are diminishing returns. This card is more than enough for all my son's top games (WOW, Oblivion, Assassin's Creed). Plus I want ATI and AMD to succeed. Without them, NVIDIA and Intel prices would go through the roof. I installed this card in a mid-tower Acer M3100 system running Vista 32-bit Home Edition (after I upgraded the power supply to a Corsair HX520W). Once I moved the hard drive and rearranged the cables, it fit fine. The fan cover is offset a bit on the power plug end to make room for the SATA cables on the PC motherboard. I installed the card, loaded the 8.3 Catalyst drivers, and my son immediately started playing WOW with all graphic options set on high. He played nearly non-stop for 14 hours with no problems. I have an Up Time Gadget running so I can see that the computer has now been running for nearly three days without a reboot. I can't recall any other graphic card running that stable."

What's great about it: Fast Equivlent to competition and not expensive What's not so great: a little large a little expensive for just a slight overclock
"I used this card in a computer i built for a friend. It is quite a large card so check to make sure you have space in your computer for this card. The out of the box over clock is nice since it ensures better performance out of the card over others. The price may be a little much though for this overclock."

What's great about it: excellent performance What's not so great: you have to upgrade your power supply, but that's just how it is when you incorporate a powerful graphics card.
"very good graphics card because it offers outstanding performance while making it affordable. it also offers directX10 and express 2.0 which makes it performance faster. not to mention, ATI graphics cards offer vivo technology which makes media, photo's and gameplay sharper and clearer... over all this graphics card is a good buy."
