"I have had this refrigerator for exactly one year. You will not find a more beautiful, sturdier refrigerator anywhere. It has plenty of room, and movable, hinged and sliding shelves come in handy to customize what you have on hand. The doors accomodate multiple 2-liter and gallon bottles.
What everyone has been writing about the icemaker is correct. It produces little ice because the bin itself is not very large. It may be loud, but not loud enough for me to notice.
Reliability may be a problem. After two months, I noticed that the Freezer drawer at the bottom was freezing up. It would accumulate tons of "snow". It turned out that the exhaust fan had gone bad. It was replaced and I have not had another problem with it. Now, I notice that the paddle on the water dispenser is rusting at the bottom. Since it is stainless, this should not happen. I have an extended warranty, so I am going to have it replaced."

"Everytime the ice dispenser arm is pressed for "crushed ice", there is excessive water spillage resulted from the melted ice inside the ice dispenser compartment. Each time, we have to wipe down the water spillage. This is very inconvenient.
Does everyone else have this same problem? If so, it is a design flaw that Samsung needs to correct."

"Initally loved the unit. It was huge, looked good and seemed to work well. However, I went out of town last weekend and came back to a big suprise. There was a large pool of water infront of and under the fridge. Every thing is the freezer was compleatly unthawed and spoiled. The ice maker was not cold and the melted ice leaked out causing the puddel. All of my clocks were the correct time and ithe neighbors said they did not lose power. So not only did I lose over $300 worth of food but the standing water damaged my hardwood floors in my brand new house.
After sitting on hold for over 30 min some one at Samsung answered. I have to submit a detailed list of everything in the fridge with the cost along with the quote to repair the floor. They sent out a repair man which took 2 days. When he arrived he said there was nothing he could do because the unit appeared to be working. He did say that he has seen this happen before where a card fails and causes the fridge to malfunction.
The salesman at best buy said the ice maker should not have leaked and recomended I just get a new unit. But then I read the other reviews. I would make sure you empty the ice maker and turn it off if you leave town. All that said, Best Buy has been accomdiating with the return."

"Im going to give my opinion personal opinion that is with out being bias i at 1 point hated samsung until they reinvented them selfs with those nice lcd and plasmas tvs (touch of color) models and i would say that i love this refregirator ive reserched all over before making a decision and came to the conclusion that this is the frige for me as for LG im not feeling them that much tv or frige :-( but remember man made man broken as long as you get a protection plan you shouldnt have to worry plus bestbuy lets you renew your insurance before its up always keep in mind people! that theres always going to be unhappy customers expecting there refrigerator to this and that and when it doesnt then they get upset and give it a low rate i reccomend you go to the store check it out get a protection plan and be happy thank GOD ive had good experinces with appliances. Bottom line is if someone has had a bad experience with a product its doesnt mean that you will also plus you have 30 days to hall it out call bestbuy and they will gladly take it back hope that my review helps."

"I've had this fridge for 8 months now. Best Buy had the best price on it, delivered it, set it up, couldn't have been happier with Best Buy's part in the transaction.
On to the fridge... The good It's big, can hold a gallon of milk in each door, hold full size pots, cookie sheets, etc... It's brilliant, really. It does what a fridge is supposed to do, keep your stuff cool and fresh. It does that well.
The bad. The Ice maker really sucks, there must be a defect. When it is actually making ice, it doesn't produce very much, or very often. A few months ago, mine stopped making ice completely. Being a DIY - read the manual, " try to fix it before calling service" kind of guy, I found info on the internet how to remove the ice maker assembly to get it working again. When I took out the ice maker, there were tiny "mostly evaporated" cubes stuck in there. Cleared it out, plugged it all back up, and it made ice! Unfortunately, that only worked for a couple of weeks until the same thing happened again. After I cleared it out again, it only worked for a couple of days.
Currently, I'm searching the internet to see if there's a warranty recall, or what. Nothing so far. I'm just happy my family doesn't use that much ice."

Once again, repairman came on out.. They make great televisions, but speaking with the repairmen and consulting consumer reports, their refrigerator is poor. Do your research first...."

"Overall, this is a decent sized french door refrigerator.
The cons are: produces very little ice. Ice runs out after four 16 oz. glasses are filled and takes 48 hours to reproduce more ice.
The icemaker is extremely noisy also. The area where the water and ice dispenses scratches very easily (it is not stainless steel) and distracts from the overall look of the refrigerator."

"I bought this fridge about 1 month ago and I love it! I've never had Samsung appliances but I'm a fan. It looks great and works great. I do have to say it takes a little while for the ice maker to make ice and it is a little loud but oh well, my kids are way louder! I chose this fridge because it has the crushed ice option which Whirlpool / Maytag french doors don't have so watch out for that if you like crushed ice! I love the deli drawer and all the adjustable shelves. You can't go wrong with this fridge!"

"Purchased the Samsung RFG287AARS refrigerator in July of 2008. Less than 1 year later and I came home to a kitchen of water as the ice thawed and it ran through the water dispenser onto the floor. Also lost a freezer of food. It appears as though the electrical panel has died - lights still on, but not responding to any commands. Service has 24-48 hours to contact us. I am requesting a return and will see how that goes - not going to keep an expensive product that fails during the first year of life! UGH! Very disappointed - WIll remain hopeful that Samsung will stand behind the product but not feeling very confident."

"I chose this refrigerator to match the handles on my Electrolux oven. I wasn't thrilled with their refrigerators, and this one matched the look very closely. WOW! What a huge refrigerator. I transferred all of the food out of my old refrigerator and couldn't believe how much space we had left. I have since then filled it with tons of lunch meats, cheeses, fresh produce galore. I can see everything at a quick glance. The downside to that is I used to hide Yoohoos from my boys for my granddaughter, and you can't hide much. It is amazing. I could probably have gotten the smaller version and been fine, but wow this is nice. We do run out of ice, though. I use a lot and so does one of my boys. There are only four of us. So, it seems like there should be plenty. I wish the ice maker was quieter. The other reviews said it was loud, but I thought they were just sensitive. It really is very loud. It just needs a softer plastic bucket so it won't hit so hard. Or maybe a rubber insulation around the outside to muffle. I love this frige. I think it looks beautiful with my oven, even though the brands are different. I had a problem with items falling out of my old freezer, when I opened the door. The drawer type is really a great idea. I wasn't sure I would like this concept, but It is fantastic for me. I have ample storage and the smaller drawer up on top holds all of the bags of vegetables, fruit , bread, and juice we could need. We even keep two bags of ice in case we have company in the larger compartment. I am very pleased with my choice."

"I love this refrigerator, it has so much space. I like the adjustable shelves, the bottom mount freezer drawer is wonderful. I really wanted this in white but it wasn't available and since my old fridge wasn't working I couldn't wait so I went with the stainless. I am constantly cleaning fingerprints, I don't care for that. You do have to open both doors to pull out the deli drawer, that makes my husband crazy. You can close the doors in any order or just open one at a time, the left one does not have to be opened or closed first. The ice maker is a bit noisier than most, probably because of all the open space surrounding it, but it isn't bothersome for my family. I have had the fridge for almost a month and have no regrets except the stainless!"

"Ok so we loved the fridge until it stopped working. I came home and there was water all over the floor ( the ice melted and ran out the front, and all of the food in the freezer was thawed ) Called Samsung and spent 45 minutes of hold time to get someone to setup for repair. Was unable to get a service person out for 3 days When they came out they couldn't find any trouble codes so they reset the computer and left...Didn't work. The next day they came out and spent about a hour on it and decided the main board was out ($600.00) part if it was not under warranty. Well the part didn't come in today so maybe tomorrow day 7. I called Samsung back to get the food allowance ($250) maybe, it took talking to 3 different people and lots of hold time to find out I had to make a list of what was lost and fax it to a long distance number.So I jumped though the hoops, but they have to review my claim so I don't know if I will get it yet. After getting the news I would have to wait another day for the part I called Samsung back they seam to think I have no reason to be upset since they plan to fix the frig and when all I asked was send me a letter telling me how sorry you are for my troubles and extend my warranty they said NO."

"The fridge is incredible. Although the French door design takes some getting used to, everything on the fridge works beautifully. It's very quiet, cools quickly, and produces ice relatively quickly when you follow the instructions supplied with the fridge. The dispenser is a little slow, but only compared to a commercial fountain soda ice dispenser. It's not 7-11, it's your kitchen, and rarely do you need to fill a 64 ounce cup completely with ice in less than 10 seconds. When using a standard 12 or 16 ounce glass, it works fine. The adjustable and slide out shelves are nice, as is the layout of the freezer portion. The shelves seem a little small when switching from a side by side, or standard top freezer, bottom fridge unit, but that is because a lot of the space inside the fridge is in the doors. Previously, we had used the doors very little, and that took some adjustment with this unit, but it's very clear that with a little thought on where to put your food, you can fit a grocery store in there. I'd recommend this fridge to anybody that asked.
*** I would like to point out that the ice/water coming from the dispenser has an unusual taste and smell, something like new plastic. I have flushed about 10-15 gallons from the unit (and several buckets of ice), and it still persists. It could be from the water line feeding the fridge, as I needed a 20 foot line to hook it up, but I have yet to contact Samsung about the issue or replace the line. I have not seen this mentioned in any other reviews about this fridge, so your mileage may vary."

"This fridge is the ultimate.The refridgerator is the most important appliance in the kitchen, so why not get the best. All eyes that look upon this one will be impressed.Nice stainless steel front with a stylish LED control panel that makes an amusing "ping" sound when touched.Space inside is plenty ,not to mention the modern LED lighting.No more bending over to look for something in the fridge or having to move stuff around.
