Love my Mac!!! 07/09/2008

What's great about it: easiest computer I've ever used.
What's not so great: can't find any yet

"I just switched after always using a PC. Never have I used a mac but the commercials had me curious. I played with it at the store. Best Buy has a Mac guy there to answer any questions. He sold me on it and I'm so glad he did. This is the most fun I've had with a computer. Even my 8 yr old, who has never used a mac, found it easier to use. Now she likes it better than our PC desktop!"

More Than Satisfactory 11/08/2008

"My Dell Inspiron E1505 died recently after a long hard struggle to function properly for the past year and I found myself searching for a replacement. I chose this MBP to be it's successor. I was very skeptical - I had not had any experience with Macs in the past, but I couldn't stand the thought of using a computer that has Vista on it. When I got home and turned it on I was immediately impressed by the graphics of the start up. They are extremely clear and there was no glare on the screen at all. It took me a few minutes to figure out the most basic of functions (how to close a window, of all things) but I'd say within an hour I was operating with considerable ease.

I like how the program bar across the top operates as the bar for all programs. It's only a slight nuisance to have to click off it to get it to the default, and really then it's not really a bother once you realize that. The program dock at the bottom really is handy - it pops up and vanishes if you prefer to maximize the screen space.

My favorite feature is the Finder. It's a very easy to use directory. Moving documents from a main folder to a sub folder is bothersome for having to go folder by folder (unless I haven't discovered how to do so yet). I don't like not having MS Office, and I am having difficulties with the Crossover program at this point in time but that's no fault of the Mac.

A slight bother is the shortness of the power cord, and the fact that it is magnetic. If you bump it just right it comes unplugged, but the battery life is great in case you don't notice. Another issue is the lack of a right touchpad button. Having to click Ctrl or Command is rather tedious.

The light up keyboard is cool to look at, and overall the laptop is very sleek and clean looking. Very classy. It is much slimmer than my Inspiron, and not very heavy. It doesn't get very hot either, which is a plus.

My biggest concern was gaming. I do a fair amount of gaming (particularly WoW) and I intend to study it - and I wanted a laptop that would be able to handle what I need it to do (something that my Inspiron was far from satisfactory in). It runs WoW BEAUTIFULLY and the great graphics of this laptop make playing even more of a pleasure than before. Everything is very clear. The lack of a right click issue is big here - no right click to loot, attack, etc. That is my only peeve with gaming thus far.

Finding programs to run on Mac is slightly tedious, as a lot is very Windows oriented - particularly since I am having issues with Crossover (again, not the Mac's fault)

I think that this is a great laptop for someone who has strong previous experience with computers, particularly is they are switching from Windows and just starting on Mac. How someone with little experience will fare, I'm honestly not certain. But for someone seasoned and looking at the other side, the grass is greener over here."

What's great about it: design, Operating System, fast everything (programs/startup, etc)
What's not so great: not cheap... until now. BUY IT. RIDICULOUS DEAL!! normally $2500.

"Easily the sexiest laptop on the market. Can't you tell from all the TV & print placement? Its everywhere. Upgraded to 4GB ram. This thing screams. Programs open as fast as you can snap your fingers. LED backlight on matte screen produces unbelievable color. ALWAYS HATED TRACKPAD... NOT THIS ONE!! Surfing the web is effortless. No need for a mouse with the trackpad "gestures." OS X Leopard compliments the hardware in this piece of art very well. No constant errors, long load times, freezes, program shutdowns... and there is tons of animation. Windows on 99% of PCs could never handle it. It would lock up immediately. Truly the Mercedes of laptops. Probably overkill on video ram for an everyday user, but well worth the money. Absolute blast to use. Thank you for freeing me from the frustrations of Windows!!!!!! BUY IT NOW WHILE ON CLEARANCE! BEST VALUE YOU WILL FIND!! PERIOD!!"

"In purchasing my new laptop, I had a few concerns on my mind:
1) I have only had PC desktops in the past
2) Price, Price, Price!

Best Buy employees were very helpful in finding me the perfect laptop. I am in love with the visual, sound, and graphics of the Macbook and couldn't be happier! Although I was concerned about switching to a Mac, I have found the transition easy and painless. I was also happy to find that I can use many of the Microsoft Office programs on my Mac through the program "Microsoft: Mac 2008 Home & Student Edition." I plan on recommending this for all my friends and family."

"After being brought up only having ever used a PC, moving to a MAC was rather uncomfortable. However, my peers kept pushing and telling me how little you need to know to be able to use an Apple product.
After buying the product, I took it home, opened the box and charged the unit while working on set up. Setup was straight forward with the Mac doing most of the work for me. I followed the simple instructions and before I knew it, I was up and running and connected to my wireless network. I have been using this for about 6 months now and have yet to find anything difficult!! LOVE THIS."

"This is the most amazing laptop ive ever had! It is so easy to use and I absolutely love my macbook pro! Never have I had a problem with it. The only thing that can get annoying is if you are a big Windows user. Sometimes you have to download files that are only Windows compatible. You can do this on macbook but with another program, but that can get annoying if you use windows alot. Since I do not, I have nothing but good things to say about this! Amazingly fast, crystal clear display, and many cool features!"

"Unbelievable! Am enjoying making my own songs on Garage Band. Have completed a hard cover book using iPhoto. Purchased iWork for document compatibility and MobileMe service to sync my iPhone calendar and contacts remotely. Can share files with friends and family with ease, even the large ones, using MobileMe and the easy maneuvering of the Mac. Well done! Strongly recommend it!"

"It is just an amazing laptop. It is incredible thin (1 inch) for the power it packs. With a longer battery life than the macbook this computer is something to save for. With 2.4 ghz and fairly large hard drive for a laptop it is overall a geat buy. It also has a good graphics card."

What's not so great: Price at first, but after using it I feel it's worth the price of admission

"I've been a pc user for years and years, always telling anyone that raved about mac that it was just another OS etc etc. I've always wanted to try one out but never did. I recently bought a top of the line HP CTO laptop with 4gb ram 2.6ghz dual core, Vista64 Ultimate.. the works. The laptop showed up and the wifi was toast, just plain didn't work. The deal breaker was how slow this top of the line laptop ran.. I have an old compaq pent4 3ghz running xp and it smoked the new HP. Anyway I returned the HP and decided to try out a macbook pro. I loaded up vmfusion and threw tinyxp on it... I am truly impressed. It runs XP awesome and isn't loaded with a ton of useless software that you spend hours uninstalling like every pc nowadays. I'm sure part of my displeasure with the hp laptop was vista64, I have a desktop running vista32 ultimate just fine (a little slow compared to XP but acceptable). I am really impressed with Leopard and my macbook pro boots in 30sec and shutdown in 4."

"The easiest computer to use. Like Apple says everything just works!, right out of the box. Best display I have ever scene on a laptop, excellent 802.11N wireless card, Love the MagSafe power adapter, back light keyboard is awesome for typing in the dark. Great battery life. love the multi-touch track pad. BlueTooth, Built-in WAHOO! Great sound quality. Easy to keep clean and the aluminum casing hides scratches great."
