Went Mac, Not going back

Pros: Performance, Display, Looks, Versatility, Battery Life, NO viruses!!!! Cons: Price, Runs hot, OS/X not as user friendly as everyone seems to think
"OK so I decided to buy a Mac after my Compaq broke down after 5 months of normal use. Let me start by saying that I am in love with this thing. For 2800 bucks I oughta be. Everything just runs faster than it did on my comparably equipped Compaq. My compaq had a slower processor, but for what I use it for, thats not an issue. I am not a Vista hater, nor was I before. Leopard runs better, period. I think Apple DOES do some stupid things to make themselves different from Windows, and in doing so, it makes it slightly more complicated to achieve simple tasks. Like renaming a folder requires an extra step. I know these little things are trivial, but they got my attention. Anyway, the day I got my Mac, it had a problem with shutting off for no reason at all. I don't know why it happened, but I brought it back to Best Buy and exchanged it, and I have ad no such problems since. Defects are a product of mass production no matter what, so I'm not too worried about it. Battery life is insane compared to my old PC, even when it was new. Where I was lucky to get 1.5 hours before, I get about 4 hours now! Anyway, like I said, I love my new Mac. It looks so pretty sitting on my desk, in all of its sleek splendor. Apple has my vote from now on."

All Around Great Product

"My review is largely for the interested newbie. We've owned Apples and Macs since they first came out, but we also owned PCs. Our Macs were used by nine people, from 6AM-10PM (sometimes even later), 365 days a year without major hang-ups, quitting, or any internet problems, over the years. (Even our oldest model still works today.)
By contrast, various problems (internet or otherwise) came up with our PC's numerous times and something was always needed. Over the years, we noticed PC friends faired the same way, and paid often for others to solve problems. Mac's also had features PC's forced you to add on/buy later. Repair Techs were expensive, and add-on's added up, while Macs kept our money in the bank. By far, Macs were a no-brainer, and we could get right to work.
Our only disappointment with Macs was not having access to certain Pro software (unless a version came out later for the Mac - like Microsoft Word). With these new Intel Macs, the software problem is solved! The Macbook Pro - it's definitely a marriage of mobility, great features, and power."

"This is by far the best computer ever battery life is insane. I used to do work on a Sony And Was Lucky if the battery would last an hour. Owned this Mac Book Pro For a Week and seeing battery time last from 4 to 6 Hours. 17" screen is great for doing work you don't need a telescope to read the screen. Programs like Photo Booth and Garage Band are easy and fun to use you could spend a whole afternoon just creating projects. Bought The Pro because of other reviews on Best Buy everything you read is true. Anyone who has any experience with itunes will find the switch to a Mac easy. You could by a Pc and have it crash and buy another one and have it crash and fill up with virus or you could save your money and by one Mac"

Great Laptop for school

Pros: Runs both Leopard and Windows XP, Stylish design, Good battery life, powerful enough for low end gaming. Cons: A bit pricey, but worth it if you can afford it.
"I got a MacBook Pro when I started college last year and it has been great! It has a sleek design, pretty minimalist and slim compared to other laptops on the market.
The back-lit screen is extremely nice especially since it automatically adjusts it's brightness depending on your environment. The touch-pad has some nice new functions that work with Leopard, like zooming in and out of pictures just by moving your fingers. A lot of these little details like the back-lit keys and the magnetic power cord add so much polish to such a great machine.
As far as power goes, this isn't your ultimate gaming machine, but it get's the job done. Now that it works off an Intel processor, you can install Microsoft's Windows OS using Leopard's Boot Camp feature; if you wanted to.
If you are looking for a sleek, powerful laptop with an intuitive operating system and the ability to use Windows as well; the Macbook Pro is the way to go."

"I was not sure about getting a mac, but when I saw all of the features this MacBook Pro has, I had to have it. You can organize all of your pictures and with ichat you can have video conferences too. I love the design and how earth friendly it is. This was for sure a great buy. It's 100% worth it !"

"Just turning on my new 17 inch MAC Pro was an experience. The bright HD Display had no glare, even in bright sunlight, and the colors were simply amazing. I answered about 5 questions before I began and after that I was enjoying a very well-executed video welcoming me to the world of MAC. Before now, I had never really known why people with this computer loved it so much, but now I don't think I could ever go back! Playing HD movies was a cinch with the standard widescreen resolution, and I was scrolling through my photo album before I had even figured out how to use Safari. I had no trouble to speak of when trying to find information; MAC provides a simple Help button that answered my every question.
There is no question, if you are wondering about a MAC, then talk to someone who has it, and learn why we all love it so much.
If you want to experience a Dream-Come-True, then the MAC is for YOU!"

Not a regret

"I've always been a pc user. and I was looking for a great laptop, that would last me a good 4 to 5 years. so I started looking at technology between brands. Then I learned of new processors coming out. so I decided to see what models would be having the new processors with at least 5mb of L2 cache. This Laptop has 6mb by the way. WHen I compared this lapop to items like alienware. This really was the beter buy. Instead of having a desktop and a laptop, I went all out for a great laptop. I use a lot of Photoshop, and premier, and it works great w/o a problem. Just wish battery life was abit longer, I can squeeze about 3 hours out of it. which is really great being a 17in laptop. I was leary because of the price tag, and it I havn't looked back. I went ahead and dual booted with the bootcamp software with vista ultimate. I know all you mac diehards. But I just can't live w/o my windows. Which runs flawlessly by the way. This laptop has all the hardware windows needs to run, by really surpassing all requirements. the only thing I will be doing soon will be upgrading to 4gb of ram. Though the laptop, works great w/ 2gb, in both vista and mac. It never hurts to have more memory. oh, and yes I did get the ADH warranty, accidents happen. I want this thing protected. oh and its only an inch thick, compared to almost 2inches w/ an alienware pc. just an fyi."

"This laptop is incredible. I got this laptop about a week ago and there is nothing it can't do. I decided when I got it that I wanted to test it right out of the box. I began by installing World of Warcraft and proceeded to play it for 6 hours straight. At the top left, close to where the power cord plugs in, it got a little hot but it's inevitable that it will since it has an NVidia 8600m gt graphics card inside there. The graphics are just breathtaking. This laptop has completely replaced my desktop. After I did that I decided that I wanted to test out the battery life so I started streaming and playing video from websites and from my hard drive. I watched various programs for about 3 hours and still had over an hour left when I was done. This laptop just works, hand down. This laptop can handle almost anything that you throw at it. Btw I've never used a Mac before. The conversion is seamless. Leopard is very slick and easy on the eyes. I've never just been looking for something in a folder and had someone's jaw drop watching me. It's just fun to use and is VERY powerful. If this laptop was not as expensive as it is, I think this should be the standard of laptops. It's that good."

"I just started using this pro. I got it because my science teacher has the 15in one, and he recommended it for me. So I just got one today. The only thing I don't like about it is the weight, which is about 6.8 ibs. Other than that, it's prefect for everything I do on it. I even Microsoft Office for Mac on it for school. Keep up the good work, both Best Buy, and Apple."
