What's not so great: DETERGENT DISPENSER IS HORRIBLE! BEWARE!

"Be aware of this problem when you consider purchasing this washer. When filling the liquid detergent dispenser it immediatly empties into the tub before you even get the fabric dispenser filled or even get the dispenser door pushed back in. If you are not finished loading your tub with soiled laundry and you have filled your detergent dispenser with liquid detergent ...well prepare to clean up a mess..if the washer door is open and your loading laundry.. the liquid detergent is dripping onto the floor from inside the door where the dispenser has already emptied into the tub....so much for the advertised DELAY FUNCTION...if you like detergent sitting on your clothes for 8hrs before the water starts with the wash cycle...

called samsung and explained the problem to see if this dispenser is suppose to work like this and I was told that this is a MALFUNCTION and that they are working on a SQUARE tray that should be out toward the end of Jan 09' . who Knows! I have to say..I am slightly let down and disgusted that dispenser is not working approp....

so there's you something to think about when considering buying this machine..."

What's great about it: Everything about it is wonderful

"I run a small breed dog rescue. We use fabric wee wee pads. I have to wash probably 10 - 15 of them a day with you can imagine what on them. In my old extra capacity top loader, I could wash 6 at a time if they weren't too bad and only 4 if they were particularly.... gross. Now, I can wash 12 at a time and they come out looking like brand new just about every time. The washer even got out old stains that my top loader couldn't. I have also moved into a new house which has a septic tank and love that this washer uses such a small amount of water per load. I have had the set for about 2 months now and wanted to be sure how I felt about them before writing the review and I have to tell you that I love them. Sometimes, I start a load and just stand there to watch my laundry for a few minutes - I know - it seems kinda nuts but I just can't believe what a great job they do. Yes, the wash times can be long - up to an hour and a half if you use the prewash but there is also a setting for Quick Wash - only 38 minutes - certainly comparable to any top loader. I use this setting on my personal laundry. The initial expense was high but I know that I'm saving money on water with every load and I imagine that my wee wee pads are going to last longer so I'll be saving money there as well. I kinda feel like this is the best money I've spent in a while. They are quiet and I don't notice any vibration at all. I love the set and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I'd recommend them to anyone. Be sure to get the pedestals."

What's great about it: very quiet - does not vibrate at all

"what a great washer! We have this installed in a second floor closet in our house (over 100 years old). We installed 1/2 " plywood on top of the wood floor as a precaution because I read that front loaders can really cause a lot of vibration. This is definitely not a problem with this machine. Prior to getting this machine, I had a traditional top load washer a couple of feet away from where this is installed and I could always feel the vibration down the hallway laying in bed when it would go into the spin cycle. This thing doesn't budge.

The clothes really do come out alot cleaner than my old machine. It takes a while to get used to all of the different options (there are tons of them) to cleaning your clothes. Definitely worth the price, especially if your are installing upstairs."

"If you've been looking at LG, KENMORE, ELECTROLUX--this is the product to BUY! I searched for over a year until this came along!

The only thing most people complain about with ANY front loading machine is mildew/water/smell with the seal on the washer. I have had NO problems because after I get a load out of the washer I leave the door open about 5 inches or so and then close it an hour or so later...so there's no water to cause any problems! On to my review---

I love this washer (and the matching dryer). I got my set about a month ago on sale with the free pedestals. I must say I got a great deal ($2600 with the pedestals and delivery/set up). I have been really happy with the performance. My husband wears uniforms and works underground in a mines, so his clothes are very dirty. This is the first washing maching that gets them CLEAN! Clothes smell better and look better.

I am an educator, so I dress in alot of HAND WASH ONLY items and DRY CLEAN ONLY items, and I can use the hand wash option and it's not going to ruin my clothes because there's no agitator to rub the items. If it's DRY CLEAN ONLY I steam them in the dryer...works GREAT!

I have been very happy with this purchase and BEST BUY was great with setup, delivery and removal of our old junky set. THANKS and I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN!"

What's great about it: GETS CLOTHES CLEAN/SMELLS GREAT...LOVE THE STEAM
What's not so great: lengthy wash cycles..but worth the wait...still mild vibration even after leveling.

"After much research and considering the Electrolux versus the Samsung. We decided to go with the Samsung due to the promotion that was offered at the time and I was getting steam in both the washer and drier whereas I would be out alot more money to get steam in the electrolux washer and drier...plus I got free pedestals...Purchased this set approx 3weeks ago and I really enjoy it.. the only drawback I have with this washer is that it still has mild vibration during spin cycle even after leveling...thought the VRT was suppose to fix that prob..I have the set on my 1st floor (living space)...the clothes come out smelling soooooo clean and as for stains.....whats that?....old stains are even removed with the steam cycle...cant find anything else in the house to wash...

husband even likes using it...THATS A FIRST!

If I didnt go with this set my next choice would have definitely been the Electrolux..

great product...loving it!"

"Bought top of the line LG front-loader from a nice retired Navy Chief. They were delivered on a Thursday. Delivery and installation went well. Installers leveled the washer. However, every time I ran it after that, the washer tried to walk out the door.

Nine days later, on a Saturday, I had time to level the washer myself. Leveled it to a gnat's behind. The LG no longer tried to walk around, but it sounded like a helicopter. It shook the whole house. It was sitting on a first floor, outside wall, with ceramic floor. The flooring was truss-built and very solid. With only 8 dress shirts in it, it sounded like it was going to tear itself apart. I called the orange store to come get the set. Returned the set and bought thsi Samsung and matching dryer with Vibration Reduction Technology. I love the new set, no noise, no vibration. Also, they are feature-rich and clean the clothes very well."

"It was only dream to buy this items(with dryer) until buy new house.
but now it came true.. this makes me happy to wash all things even dolls and huge bedding. steam function removed old stain on my white shirt.
the sound also calm. I can't feel any vibration too.
Now that I have washed all old dolls and beddings, a load is off my mind."

What's great about it: Huge inside, easy to start, "spin only" and "delay" cycles are great.
What's not so great: It's in my basement and I can't look at it all the time.

"When my 10 year old Maytag gave up, I researched online until I was blue in the face. It came down to Samsung or LG for me. My gut said go with the Samsung and I'm happy with my choice. (I don't think the LG comparable model had a "spin only" cycle which I occasionally need.) I don't have a large family, but with 2 toddlers we do lots of loads each week. 4.5 cu. ft. is not too big. I'd recommend to buy the largest capacity you can afford if you're doing wash for more than 1 or 2 people.
I also bought the matching Samsung Steam Dryer, love it too."

"Excellent washer! Love all the features. I like the Silver Care option for sanitizing. Was looking at the LG Steam washer, but decided to buy the Samsung. Glad I did. The pedestal is a must, esp if you are tall. I like the light inside the washer, too. The Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT) is wonderful! Very happy with this purchase."

"This was to be our first experience with a front loader. Did a lot of research, and initially ordered an LG model. Was very clear after a couple of days that it wouldn't work out, as washer shook quite excessively during spin cycles. Our floor was not the problem, as directly below washer was an "I" beam supporting the floor joists. Further research drew us to this Samsung model. The VRT technology sounded promising, regarding the shaking we encountered with the LG. To make this story short, the washer, in all aspects, operates very well. And, any vibration that we have during the spin cycles only last a few seconds as the VRT adjusts and compensates for any uneveness in the load. My wife has noticed a reduction in the amount of soap she uses. At first she complained about the longer cycle times, but that is no longer an issue as the larger volume of clothes being handled more than compensates for the extra time. Great buy."

What's great about it: So far, best delivery and installation experience ever.
What's not so great: Longer wash cycles (never had front loader before). Also moisture left over in washer...

"I was called by the delivery people and asked if they could deliver the washer and dryer a little early. (I bought the matching set with steam) They were professional and very careful. The machines went into a just finished utility room - they didn't bump or scrape a wall or make a mark on the new floor. After they installed the washer and dryer and started a wash cycle, they showed me exactly how everything had been hooked up, explained all the key features of the machines, showed me where to add soap, how to clean the filters and when and they showed me how to operate the washer and dryer. I don't think I have ever had someone that worked directly for a manufaturer be so thorough and informative and I didn't even ask for the information - this was all prompted by them. So refreshing!
As far as the machines go - I washed my first load last night and the clothes were very clean. I have to get accustomed to these longer cycles with a front loader and I need to ask what people do about all the left over moisture in the drum. I left the door to the washer and soap drawer open and they were dry this morning.
Other people have expressed concern about service since these Samsung machines and parts are from overseas. I'll have to wait and see. I can say that the machines are really easy to operate with many choices for how to wash and finish your clothes. The stainless steel drums are so nice and both machines are really quiet. The end of cycle signal is pleasant.
I also want to mention that when I purchased these online I had trouble getting an additional discount that was being offered if you purchased more than one appliance so I called customer service. Again, I had wonderful service. The customer service rep. redid the order for me with the discount and made sure I had everything I needed and then got the delivery set up for the following Saturday as I requested.
This is only one experience, but I have to say I am impressed with BestBuy. This is the first time I have purchased a large item with delivery from them. I usually shop at Lowes or Home Depot. I will be checking BestBuy first from now on."

Won't find a better washer 08/06/2008

What's great about it: Very quiet operation, no vibration, ease of use, Best of both worlds - Steam and Silver Care, great looks

"Once you enter into the jungle of front loading washers and dryers’ picking one out that fits all your needs plus is reliable and "affordable" is not easy. Our search included all the major brands. We opted for getting the most reliable one that did everything we wanted and bit the bullet as far as price was concerned - it is competitive to the other upper end products but it is still an expensive (but worth it) purchase.
The Samsung really hits 5 stars in regards to easy & intuitive controls, quiet operation and feature rich design. It gives you a feeling of quality in how it looks works and operates (right down to the cute chime signals). Clothes come out clean and smelling fresh. Very reasonable wash times. The load capacity of this washer is amazing. We also bought the matching Dryer. They work great together. We purchased the pedestals which give great storage space (of note - they are much sturdier than the LG stands and attach more securely). So far we are more than pleased with the purchase.
We received great assistance from our local Best Buy & they also did an excellent job with delivery and setup. Highly recommend the Samsung product."
