Fast but Not Compatible06/19/2008

What's great about it: Fast, lots of Ram and disk space, nice display, great value What's not so great: 64 bit Vista not compatible with some devices
"This is a great machine if you do not need compatibility with 32 bit DEVICE DRIVERS (32 apps run fine). Vista 64 will only run 64 bit drivers signed by Microsoft. More drivers are becoming available but some I needed now were not (e.g. for Palm PDA hotsync for my CENTRO). Battery life on power saver mode is between 2.5 and 3 hours-pretty good. Glossy keyboard and machine in general readily shows fingerprints. Alternative machine is the Toshiba A305-S6825 which runs Vista 32 bit OS with 3GB ram and 250GB hard drive. If not for the compatibility issue I would highly recommend."

"Incredibly quick and responsive laptop due to the 64 bit processor/Operating system. The 4GB DDR2 PC 5300 is blazing fast and works well with the Intel Core 2 Duo Centrino T5550 (1.83/ghz/core). The Intel X3100 GMA does well in Aero and other Vista applications. Haven't tried any actual games yet, but I am assuming they probably won't run extremely well because of the weaker graphics accelerator. Don't buy this thinking its a gaming computer, if you want that then upgrade to the A306-S6843. "I am very careful about keeping my things looking nice, and this has a gloss finish which leaves many fingerprints, but no biggie, they wipe off. This computer is amazing. I got it on sale for $700 but still would have paid the grand. It's so worth it. It has everything I've ever need and more. This computer also came with Microsoft Word and all of the offices for free! That almost a $200 value! This computer had a built in web cam with Skype to talk to people through the internet for FREE! Its amazing! Best purchase ever! Incredible speakers, beautiful style. You will not regret buying this computers. It's my new God."

What's great about it: easy to use, looks great, runs pretty smooth What's not so great: too many icons on initial setup
"Just bought the laptop, I've had a Toshiba for five years, and worked pretty well. It finally went out a couple of months ago so I started looking into another Toshiba. I wanted an updated one at a reasonable rate and I think I got a steal for this laptop. 4gb of DDR2 for only $850!! It was easy to set up, wireless connection only took me like a minute to set up. I'm definitely putting some virus/spyware protection on it and then I'm set. Also, I'm probably getting an extended warranty just in case my hard drive goes out or some stupid thing goes out. But I love it, it just looks so pretty. Only problem is that I was told since it was a faster computer everything on the computer would run faster, but my internet is still the same. I think my PC still runs faster"

What's great about it: RAM, Speed, Great Monitor What's not so great: Labelflash media availability limited and pricey
"Bought this product on sale and have no regrets. The monitor is incredibly bright and sharp, the processor moves remarkably fast, and the wireless connection is strong and a breeze to set up. Be prepared for very few useful extra "freebies" on the computer. To be nitpicky, the only 2 complaints: the casing looks sharp but does not feel as sturdy as others and labelflash system works only on DVDs and only on limited labelflash media. Quite frankly, though, I can't complain. For the price paid, this is an amazing computer, with great screen, great speed, and limitless functionality. Would buy it again and recommend it to anyone."

"To anyone that wants a easy to use fast multimedia machine, i would reccomende this laptop to you. I am a hard to please teen and this has please me so im telling anyone reading this and looking for a new laptop that i did my research and found this was the best bet. My laptop is new and im not use to vista but other than that it is an easy to use laptop and fast! I really like the side charger on it as well as the features for media. Toshiba laptops have been very well for me in the past and this should be as well. I guess i could say i like the look and the functions of it and would recomend anyone to check it out."

What's great about it: quick, no heat, quiet, nice look What's not so great: smooth plastic - gets greasy if type long time
"i had a dell and thought of trying a new brand. so far its great. some issues with wireless connection, but manageable. though the smooth plactis keyboard and case seems to be a clean issue. its gets really greasy from your hands the longer u use it, sometimes the keys are slippery, even if u wash your hands alot. other then that its great."

"My old Toshiba died so I decided to purchase this laptop. I have to say that the PC is extremely fast and efficient. The only down side is there is no built in word processing software except for the trial version of MS Office. I had planed on purchasing the software, but not this soon after purchasing the laptop. Overall, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!"

What's great about it: More powerful than you may think What's not so great: battery life is a little weak
"I absolutely love this laptop. Don't let the stigma of it not being a major brand name like HP, Apple or Dell dissuade you from considering this product. With its 2gb of RAM, its pretty fast, even with running the resources-hog that Vista is. I have left this laptop on for hours and hours without a single hiccup or problem. Very reliable, sleek, and easy to use. And a great value for the price."

"After becoming frustrated with my HP pavilion laptop due to another return to the repair shop, i decided to look into getting a more reliable laptop. I had shopped online, compared many machines, and still undecided went into BB to look and compare...Well after talking with a salesman there, and looking at all available machines, I chose this toshiba satellite fusion...and caught it on sale...for the specs you get on this machine you really cant beat it, and definately wont have to worry about RAM upgrade for some time...It runs Vista premium 64 bit...smoothly and i have a bunch of pictures on my computer and when i ran my backup disk to place them on my computer it was fast and smooth, and when i pull up my pictures it is instant, not one at a time. The intel centrino dual processor runs soooo cool, i had amd athlon in my previous and the laptop and power supply would get so hot, even the touchpad, but this machine stays so cool, you hardly tell it is on, and quiet to boot, the keyboard is slick in appearance but doesnt interfere with typing as i thought it might, the touchpad is slightly rough feeling but i like it over the slick smooth touchpad of the HP, and does have scroll...I have not used the DVD player so i dont know, internet connectivity is awesome and fast, speakers are nice and a lil loud i have to remember to turn it down, the sleep n charge is great, once enabled you can charge your mp3 players and such even when the laptop is powered off...great convenience there, this is just a great machine, and when you compare how solid it is compared to others, you can tell it is solid well built machine...one thing i do recommend is to let BB geek squad have it for like an hour and they remove all the built in advertisement that comes prepackaged, and icons, and upload all the new windows vista service packs and securty upgrades, so when you get it home you plug it in and go....you wont be dissapointed in this system."

What's great about it: Super Fast and Really Efficient What's not so great: The battery life is a little shorter than I expected...
"I love this computer. It was really east to set up and is awesome to use. I wouldn't consider trading it for anything else. I think this is a perfect balance of memory and hard drive. There is a ton of room for growth and this machine is so fast. Even my DSL works better on this computer than on our PC. This computer just looks sleek and more expensive than it really is. The battery life is shorter than I expected, but that's why they include a power cord. I havn't had any problems whatsoever with the wireless like some other people who wrote reviews. I can get on the net just about anywhere on campus. Overall, a great machine at a really great price."

"I just purchased this computer today and love it! It's fast, easy to use and so far I have no problems with the built in wireless. I was connected easily and have connection every since. The sleek fusion finish makes this laptop look very expensive and the buttons almost push themselves. I love the spot for my SD card which inable extremely easy download for all of my pictures for my digital camera. Love Love this so far... I hope its actally as good as it seems!"

"Well in the last week I returned an HP because it had a screen that died in 6 days and a Dell with a touch pad that was unresponsive so I ended up getting this Toshiba and I am very impressed. Everything is perfect. Great wireless connection, keyboard and touch pad are very responsive, and the laptop itself looks awesome. The guts of it are pretty decent especially 3GBS of Ram. I am very happy and would recommend this to anyone looking for a laptop in this price range."

"i bought this laptop before its street release date. i was going for the model below this one but they had just sold the last one before i got there. the sales associate was very knowledgable and helpful with me picking out my purchase. i wanted something that was fast and user friendly. i love this laptop and i am glad i bought it. it is a very good laptop to own and i would reccomend it. the only issue i have is with its connection at times to the wireless router. i have another computer in the house that is wireless too but doesn't have the issues with connecting like this one does at times. overall though a good buy"
