What's great about it: Came in a nice box. What's not so great: Fustrating to use!
"Purchased this model when it first came out. After a couple of months use it was a mistake. First Dell I've purchased, will be the last! Since the second week, it will not shutdown or re-start. Have to use the power button instead of the start menu. Locks up frequently using various programs. Since it was purchased at Best Buy, Dell offers no support. I also have a Toshiba laptop that after 15 months has performed flawless. Had to overate it at 1 star."

"This notebook is wonderful....the best one out there for under $1000....the only laptop I've ever used that is better than this one is my cousin's macbook pro....but i didn't have $1900 to spend on a laptop. The guy that gave this laptop a 2.0 just because of the design is crazy....the design is AWESOME...no other laptop looks this good...I admit HP does have some nice designs on some of their laptops but i like this one better. The battery life is decent and the speed is excellent. I would definately buy another Commotion if something were to happen to this one."

What's great about it: just about everything What's not so great: only a few with the touchpad
"the key pad gets a little hot but nothing to bad. the touchpad buttons are a little to sensitive and dont work all the time sometimes i try to close somthing and it doesnt work most of the time. ut other then that this computer is awesome!!"

What's great about it: Very Fast, Huge Hard Drive, Big Screen. What's not so great: None I love it!
"This laptop is my first laptop and its absolutely awesome! I love this thing, the previous computer that I had was a Dell also and it wasnt too great because I bought it without the extra memory and that was a big mistake because I have a huge library of Itunes! This laptop came with file transfer and with a click of a button all of my files were onto this thing in five minutes. I also cannot believe how fast this thing is, its starts up and gets to the home screen in like 30 seconds. It was the best investment I ever made and I plan on using it for school! I highly reccomend you buy this if you are looking to buy a laptop but dont want to spend an arm and a leg on it this is your best choice! Thank you Dell and Best Buy!"

"I got this laptop as a gift for my birthday and when I opened the box, I said,"This thing is UGLY!"
Besides the exterior, I turned on the computer and it runs fairly well. I haven't done much with this laptop as i'm trying to return it to get an HP, Toshiba, or Sony. Their laptops look much better. Sorry Dell, If it wasn't for this ugly design on the lid, I would have keep it, considering it was a gift, accepting something I don't like is very hard."

"Best computer purchase I've ever made. Bought this laptop last week on sale for $699, what a great price for all the hardware that it comes with. The thing that convinced me to by this laptop was the 9 cell battery, it really does last 6 hrs and the fact that it came with the Intel Duo processor instead of the AMD. It boots up and turns off very quickly. It picked up the wireless router right off the bat and I was on the internet within a minute. It was also very easy to set up the network with my desktop through the router. The fan is very quiet and the machine doesn't heat up like others that I've researched. At first I didn't care for the Commotion design but It's grown on me after two weeks. The whole family is enjoying this Dell and I find myself waiting for a chance to use it. I would definitely recommend this computer, but wait for it to go back on sale to get the best value. Dell definitely delivers!"

"We bought this laptop as a second laptop. We have a Sony Vaio that we have really enjoyed. When I opened this one and started using it, I realized what I have been missing! It is much better and the battery last over 6 hours as opposed to the possibly 2 on a good day with the Sony! Only issue I have found is how hot it gets from being on your lap for 3+ hours."

"I've had this laptop for about one week now and I love it. The 3GB memory is more than enough for this laptop. However, as you download more programs, store a lot pictures or videos your system will start to slow down. Especially if you have desktops of laptops with 1 GB of memory. I would recommend a minimum of 2GB with Windows Vista. The cooling fan on the this computer is very quite. On mine you can only hear it when you put your ear up against the underside of the laptop. For the battery I can't say much about it other than the time it offers for charge. It gives more time than the average three and a half to four hours of charge than other batteries. I do like the design of the laptop. Because of the Inspiron 1525 Special Edition it makes it look more modern than the plain solid colors that other computers have. However, the anti-virus that came with the laptop doesn't work the way I like it to work. Like the other desktops I have Norton Anti-Virus updates must be downloaded manually. It shouldn't have to work that way. In my opinion there should be an option to have the operating system of your choice installed on the computer. Even though Windows Vista is relatively new Windows XP is more stable. I prefer XP. Also, down on the bottom of the monitor the Dell logo heats up really hot. I don't know if the battery has something to do with it."

"i researched laptops for months on end and finally decided to buy this one once i saw it was on sale, and let me tell you this laptop kicks!! turning this laptop on and off takes 5 seconds. the web cam is also outstanding. the only negative is that once in a while the fan will start up and is kind off loud but no real problem. the USB drives are also very convenient for college lifestyle. BUY IT!!"

"I'm the type of person who does a lot of research before I buy a product. I researched laptops for months. When I finished researching, I researched some more. I finally decided on this one and all I can say is that my research has paid off. This laptop loads in a second. Everything is so quick. I can watch movies, browse the internet, and play games all at the same time with no delay. The battery last a good 6 hours which is exactly what I wanted. The laptop never gets heated. This laptop has everything I needed and more- a great processor, 3 GB RAM, and the Dell name to back it up. This is the best purchase I've ever made. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up!"

"This is a great buy if you want to spend under $1,000 on a laptop. The battery life is as promised, at least 4 hours (which is better than the Vaio I replaced), and so far, after some initial worry, I am running all programs on Vista, which I know can be troublesome. My only complaint is the same for many models, it could weigh less, but overall, a great buy."

"I purchased this laptop from a narrowed down lot of HP Pavilion and Dell Inspiron series. I was looking for a laptop which was less than 1K$ and this one perfectly fitted the bill. The overall look and feel is excellent. The 3 GB RAM is a tremendous boost. And the inbuilt camera is an icing on the top of such a marvelous configuration. Although when I started using the camera application it was unusually slow, not sure if Vista was awake. Also the front end of the laptop where the camera lens is embedded heated up after clicking just one photo. I felt that after using it for just 20 minutes it was unusually hot at some places. Further the laptop is a tide too heavy. If you can get your hands on the scaled down version of 1525 which comes at 200$ less the price it would be perfect."
