What's great about it: Touch creen, features, functionality, usability
What's not so great: Battery life could be better, screen gets smudged really easily, Voice Command is useless
I actually have the 32GB version, but it's the same as the 64GB other than the obvious memory difference.
My previous MP3 player was the old version of the Zune. This is my first iPod Touch, and I've been really impressed with it (way more so than with the Zune). I've had it for about 3 months now. The touch screen is great, but I'd recommend getting a screen protector and case for it. The screen still gets really smudgy even with the protector, but at least you'll protect it from scratches. The screen itself is bright, clear, and easy to read.
Anyway, music sounds good, even just using the included headphones. My only complaint with the headphones is that I've found they don't really work with non-Apple products. I do like the volume and play/pause control on the headphone wire though-very handy. I also like how you can keep it in power save mode while still listening to music. I found the Voice Command tool to be pretty useless and not work very well. It takes longer to get it to correctly recognize the song you're saying than it does to just navigate to the song and hit play.
Wi-fi works well, and it's quick and easy to connect to a network. Web pages load faster than I expected they would. It took a little trial and error to get my email set up with the Mail app, but once I did, it works well.
The battery life varies depending on what you use most. If you primarily listen to music (in which case getting a Touch is pretty pointless), then the battery will last for hours. Once you start doing more web surfing and emailing though, the battery gets drained pretty quickly. I usually need to charge it nightly. Luckily it charges fast, even through USB.
I would recommend getting the bigger 32GB or 64GB over the 8GB even if you think you won't need the memory. There are so many apps out there to download that it's pretty easy to take up a GB of space.
Not much else to say-it's by far the best MP3 player I've ever had. It's a little expensive, but worth the price if you use the features that are available. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a great all-in-one device-Apple really knows it's stuff!

What's great about it: Easy setup, easy on the wallet.
What's not so great: Scratches are a pain to deal with if you have no accessories.
Excellent price for an excellent, reputable product.

What's great about it: At the moment nothing
What's not so great: The fact that it keeps not working.
I have had my IPod Touch for approximately 9 months and I'm getting ready to go swap out for another one. No I don't mean buy a new one. I mean it stopped working so I have to go get a new one. This will make the second time in 9 months.
Word of advice: ALWAYS get the warranty.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: user friendly, convenient.
What's not so great: cost
Product is awsome Can use the Skype app to make calls without having to pay for a cell service. Great for talking to college students or while traveling.

What's great about it: Storage, battery life, app selection, stability
What's not so great: a bit expensive considering the number of phones on the market with similiar capabilities
Overall a great buy. I'm 3 months in, and use it daily in portable docks around the house, while exercising and in my car. I've had a couple of mysterious freezes/restarts needed, and a few syncs which didn't add new music that definitely was selected in iTunes. A second sync fixed each time. Capacity is great, however once you put a lot of music on this player, it gets rough finding your track if not using a genius playlist or shuffle. Easy to use if you are familiar with iTunes, might not be as smooth for someone new to iTunes starting from scratch. I'd recommend this, and buy it again if I had to make the choice.

What's great about it: Variety of uses, excellent battery life, and portable design.
What's not so great: Easily scratched, and obsolete with the release of the 4th generation iPod touch.
I have owned my iPod touch for almost a full year since its introduction to more recently where I traded it in towards the purchase of the next generation of iPod touch. During that time, I experienced exceptional performance from this device, not only as a portable audio player, but as a PDA and game player.
If you're looking for a great device to pass the time (and can do without the added cameras on the new iPod touch) at home, on road trips, or at the air port, this is the perfect device for you. With access to over 250,000 apps on the included App Store, if you can think of a potential use for the iPod touch then in all likelihood there's probably an app for it.
In addition to entertainment, it's perfect for school or business as a PDA. There are numerous apps out there for keeping track of assignments, projects, and grades, as well, keeping track of meetings, taking audio notes, and as a slide show remote for Keynote presentations (if you own a Mac). The possible uses for this device are nearly endless.
My only complaint about this product is its stainless steel and glass body makes it prone to being easily scratched and dented. I would recommend purchasing a case and/or screen protection.
Since the next generation of iPod touch has been released, this generation of iPod touch is being sold cheaper. So take advantage of it if you feel you don't need the added features of the new iPod touch. The discounted price makes it perfect as a gift for the holidays. My 3rd generation iPod touch served me well, and I have no doubt it will do the same for you.

What's great about it: Easy to use; large storage capacity; sleek & compact
What's not so great: No camera or phone (i.e. it's not an iPhone)
I bought this primarily for listening to music during long road trips. The wifi & apps were a fun bonus, but now I use the iPod more for playing around than for playing music. After years of resisting Apple & iTunes, this device practically turned me into an Apple evangelist. My husband now has an iPad since we enjoyed this iPod so much. The 64GB storage capacity is great, and allows me to load as much of my music library as I want. I installed a screen protector and a case before I ever used it, and have had no problems with scratches.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Space, Space, Space, size, portablity, features
What's not so great: Hard to set up network when you travel
I purchase the iPod touch for my birthday and I am very please. I wish I had purchase it before I purchase my ipod. There is more than enough space for everything and you can watch video, movies, and read book as well as watch videos from my space. It's like having a smartphone but more space. I also receive my email on it which give me more insight to what's happening outside my smartphone. I am a grandma and found it to be great for all ages. You are never to old to use technology. Besure to buy the 64 gig you will never run out of space.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the look and feel of my new IPod. It does everytning I want it to do and has nothing on it that I don't want. A few apps (e.g., SoundHound, Listmaster) make it essential to me, and justify evry penny I spent on it. Yhanks, Apple!

I love that my Touch is a mini computer that can download any tool I need on the go. I take it everywhere from school, work, and in between. Its awesome when you have a calculator, Internet Browser, and mini boom box all in one.
The applications are great, but my favorite part of this little device is the video. All the recordings I make for class can be loaded here so it makes a great review for my tests.
The only thing that I can say is if you're going to buy one, then please be sure to treat it like holding a baby. Once you drop it and it cracks, then the brains are scrambled (if you know what I mean!)
Enjoy it, all future Touch Users!

What's not so great: From my experience the headphone distortion.
When I first brought my iPod touch 64gb 3rd gen home from best buy I immediately charged it and looked through apps. It is amazingly fun and I spent hours going through all the new features since my last iPod was the 5gen classic 30gb. It truly was absolutely awesome until I tried listening to music.
The headphone jack does not completely encompass the headphone plug due the u shape since the touch is so thin. Any little bump caused distortion and static. I scoured the internet for similar issues and found only one or two. So I brought it back to replace it. So now I am going through the motions of setting up the new iPod touch and will be back to write a follow up.
Other then the main reason for owning a mp3 player everything else is fantastic. Still a little disappointed it will not allow me to use netflix, hulu (with out paying 9.99 a month), or south park studios on it. Also you are not able to download a flash player for it from everything I have read and seen.
So all this in mind, if it is an isolated incident this is a fantastic product and the review will be changed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

At first glance, this seems like an obscenely expensive product, but with this ipod I have been able to decline the internet on my phone and now I have music wherever I want and if I'm in an area with free wi-fi, this thing essentially acts as a laptop. It's quick, has great battery life, and feels like a tangible extension of me. Highly recommended, but, if I were you, then I would wait until the next generation of ipods come around before investing because: a) the price of this will go down. b) new generations may be more appealing

I was excited to get a Touch, however, it does not pick up my home wi-fi, but I can't remember my password as that might help :) But it works fine and was easy to set up

What's great about it: large memory and simple to use and retrieve my needed information
What's not so great: no cable download ability
The iTouch that I purchase is great and very easy to use for my business use for a program that I use while at work for references in my decision making processes. There is only one problem that I have and that is the iTouch does not download applications via cable but require a wireless router device. I strongly believe that a cable should have been the primary download proces and have the wireless ability for "on the go" downloads.
