What's great about it: New Shake to Shuffle, Cover flow features, glass screen, super thin, new user interface, great audio, great size, price
What's not so great: Ripoff of space (see below...)

"First off, let me say that I would like to have 16 GB when I pay for 16 GB. The actual capacity for this ipod is 15.05 GB, not 16.

Once you get past that, the ipod is amazing. Super fast, and I love being able to rotate the ipod on it's side to go straight to cover flow. So far, I have about 5-6 cd's worth of music on mine, and I've only used about 1/4 of a GB of space (...making up for the rip-off). itunes makes it easy to sync and import music into your ipod, but government tax laws require you to pay sales tax on the songs you buy. Just because you get $15 on itunes, does not mean that you will pay for 15 dollars of music. More like $14 with $1 tax.

The ipod is amazing, and comes with free games that you can enjoy that make use of the accelerometer that is built in. The nowplaying screen looks more like the ipod touch (high quality) and allows users to access the genius feature, which automatically pairs great songs together, but since it is such a new feature, many songs on your ipod will not be able to use genius.

Overall, the ipod is the best thing since sliced bread, but the GB and the taxes make it frustrating at times, but don't let that keep you down."

"Apple's really picked it up with the new ipods. i got the nano because i wanted something small, durable, and simple to use. the new nano not only has that, it has an amazing value, increased memory, which doubles for the same price every generation, an incredibly thin body with scratch resistant paints and glass screen, this gen. adds an accelerometer with shake to shuffle, cover flow, etc, and apples reputation and an updated and improved itunes 8.0.

the nano's specialty is obviously the music. so if your interested in videos or games, go for the itouch, which also is an excellent choice. memory, go for the classic.

the accelerometer is a great new feature for the nano, because not only does it make the games more fun, it automates all the actions you don't want to, like reorienting the screen right side up in video and switching to landscape mode in pictures just by tilting the ipod. then theres shake to shuffle, which is convenient because no buttons are involved. sometimes it isn't very random, which is annoying, but if you shake it a second time it chooses a different playlist. cover flow is just annoying. every time the ipod is tilted it enters cover flow which is not necessary. but itunes made a firmware update to disable it since there wasn't an option previously. genius is also another pointless feature. it's much more useful to use on the computer, but the vast majority of the songs i have won't work with it, even the purchased ones. battery life is also bad, by my expectations. don't mess around with it to much, operating the larger screen and constantly navigating the menus drains the battery fast. my last complaint is the fact i've only had this thing since november and it already has dust under the screen. i highly recommend a case. but the ipod is about 95% designed correctly. the menus are uncluttered, customizable to some extent, easy to navigate. music is excellent. there is audio crossfade, gapless playback, and finally the album art takes up the whole screen.a customizable eq would be nice though. shuffle is actually useful now. and the 16gb (well actually its 15.05) memory allows lots of music of course. its nice to know i have 5gb used and i still have along way to go. picture viewing is good, the photos load extremely fast, and the tilt to portrait/landscape feature is nice. movies, if you ignore the small screen, are excellent. great clarity, and brightness, and it automatically bookmarks where you where on everything you watch.

"love the new nano. Im very happy with this purchase. The "shake shuffle" can be a bit annoying at times if im not paying attention to how I'm holding it and can't adjust the volume while it's tilted on its side- but that's easily fixable by just holding upright."

"This is the best ipod nano apple has ever made. The new genious feature really comes in handy when you are trying to pick songs for a party and the new accelerometer inside of it makes it really cool user interface. Just like on the ipod touch, when rotated to the side, it goes to cover flow and now videos are played on the widescreen capabilities of the ipod. This is a must buy!
