Good for Interstates, fails outside of town

What's great about it: Does a good job in towns and Interstate
What's not so great: Does a poor job planning a trip of any length that does not have an interstate.
"The TomTom does a fair job but has trouble planning a trip with out using the interstate. The device will send you 60 - 100miles out of the way to get to the interstate when there is a better shorter route. If the device is set for shortest route then it will schedule every side road and not stick with state highway where better time can be made."

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: voice not clear
"as a gps tomtom is the best i ever used. but this time it is very hard for me as because of the voice is not so clear as i expect. One more thing that some time it takes more time than it should to search the address. but stilll tomtom is the best to me among all the other kind of gps."

What's great about it: Large screen, simple to program route
What's not so great: no text to talk, long time to find signal
"I use this GPS basically to navigate in and out of Boston. I have used it in a few other cities in Massachusetts as well. Boston is one of the hardest cities to navigate and this TomTom make it easier. That said, it could be better. The device does not say street names and if you miss a turn it recalculates the route and tells u to turn when you have already passed the street it wants to suggest. The signal often gets lost in the city, especially around tall buildings. I cannot navigate Bostons Theatre District with this GPS. The screen (touch screen) is large but easily damaged. I put it in my glove box when it is not in use. Within a week or two there was a crack in the screen. It still works just fine but is a noticeable blemish. I got this GPS for under 200. Wait for a sale and this GPS is a pretty good buy. I would look into GPS devices that say the street names as well which is something I wish this had."

What's great about it: Very easy to use, Portable
What's not so great: Takes to long to re-route
"I must say I would be lost without..I am so bad with directions I take my GPS to go walking..I moved here from Florida and this was the first thing I purchased..I never leave home without it. I have had it this unit going on 2 years now..Is serves it purpose very well...it does needs some updates on re-routing faster and it takes about 5 min to get a signal when you are ready to leave for your destination but other then that..I am happy with the unit."

"My first navigation GPS. Its a fantastic product before I cant travel in VA, NJ even in Wash.D.C coz im the type who get loose away from know venues. The display is bright in readable in brightest sunlight. The first time I used im loose it but quickly re-calculate in got the right way. This is awesome product. The manual is easy to understand. The only problem I got is bad window mount."

What's not so great: Attachment to suction cup sometime comes loose.
"I Found this GPS to be very easy to use. From the time I turned it on and stuck it in the window it gave me simple questions to answer to get started. Then inputing destinations was very simple. It's attachment device is very compact which makes it easy to take along on your travels. It does have a tendancy to come loose if you torque it too hard when it is attached to the window. I found this GPS a great Value. I am addicted to it now."

What's great about it: re-routing on wrong turns, customizable displays
What's not so great: some updates not there, some dead ends
"Me and my girlfriend decided to go visit her mom and dad in Beeville, Tx and didn't know how to get there, so I bought the TomTom 330 and it worked right away and was really easy to use. It found where we were when we turned it on. I love the favorites features and home so that way if you know your going to a certain place but still not sure how to get there, you can just put in where you want to go and boom, its all set. I also love the different voices you can set and download.
The only probalems I have had are that every so often, it shows your off the road when you are on, or it loses its gps for a second, and some roads that aren't there where a dead end is.
All in all, a great product."

"Got mine a week ago and very satisfied with the purchase.
Audio is fine to me. At 85% can hear all commands with open windows on highway, loud stereo and always demanding attention kids inside the car.Did my research before buy this unit and it seems that all audio problems related to -S models: 130S/ XL330-S ( text-to-speech).
I was using TomTom LE edition (the same as 3-rd edition 3.5" screen,XL/XLS-4,3"screen) for awhile until it was stolen last week.Since I've never been using such features as bluetooth and SD card on my previous GPS, they were not on top list during my GPS selection process. Just wanted a good GPS to get from point A to point B without getting lost.
Compare to old edition the newest one has some improvements:
1. It gets signal much faster, just a few seconds from start up.It was always taking a couple of minutes to get the signal on old model.
2. Lock feature is an another good addition to the newest model. Was very upset when my old GPS was stolen and someone could get the direction directly to my house.
3. Works on XP and Vista.
4.Also, I like the new mounting "EasyPort mount" which makes it very easy to use it on my both cars.
5.Very like 4,3" big screen.
Very glad I got the TomTom XL 330 GPS which makes driving experience for all my family much more pleasurable."

What's not so great: Changing a route
"Works great. Used it on a trip to San Francisco and it was invaluable navigating the Interstates and freeways. I did get confused when surrounded by tall buildings, but I understand that is normal for all GPS's. The only trouble I had, it would not use the 101, going to South San Francisco, it wanted to route me through Oakland. It took a while, but I figured out how to change the route. This is the first one I have owned."

What's great about it: Love the bright 4.3 screen
What's not so great: just plugging it in to your computer
"We used this to take our son to the Victoria Clippers ferry dock in Seattle and it was just awesome how it worked. The screen is easy to read and easy to navigate. I love the features it has: talks with clear instructions on how to get to your destination, bright and clear screen. It also has points of interest, which shows all the places that I need, especially the ATM machines and gas stations.
If I don't have a clue as how to get somewhere I won't leave home without my GPS.
Awesome product!"

"I have had this GPS for a month now and highly recommend it. I also purchased the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver and it works great in the Boston area. Basically what it does is download the status of traffic in your area and displays where the traffic issues are between you and your destination and offers to re-route you around the traffic. The audio output on this device is very good. The display is bright and readable in the brightest sunlight and it has all the features you would need in a GPS. There are more expensive units that will also play MP3's and video if that is what you need. With the new mounting of the device being removable you can fit this unit into a back pocket and take it with you on a walking tour of the city."

What's great about it: Accurate, solid construction but not heavy, window suction cup attachment is excellent for attaching unit to windshield.
What's not so great: The "three hour" battery estimate is suspect ....
"I am the type who would get lost going too many blocks away from known venues, and this has been a lifelong thing with me. I bought this little beauty several days ago and gave it some fairly extensive tests over the last two days. It has consistently been right on the money, so much so that my confidence about going pretty much ANYWHERE is now total. I have found the voice directions excellent, loud, and timely. The voice commands alone will take you right to the door of your destination, no need to even look at the screen of the unit (which might be dangerous while driving, in any event). The screen responds excellently to the touch, so punching in commands is easy. Superb unit, I love it."
