What's great about it: Sound and construction
What's not so great: Head band exerts too much pressure against the ears
I purchased these as a replacement to my Bose Headphones. The BOSE worked very well, and are the over-the-ear design. Very light and great sound production. The problem is that the yokes holding the ear cups broke, on both sides, even though they are handled gently. Very cheap design. I have to constantly glue them back together. The Sennheiser phone are of superior quality in design. However, they are slightly more heavy and I find that I do not prefer 'on the ear' as opposed to 'over the ear'. Perhaps this on-the-ear design is partially responsible for my complaint that the Sennheiser headband exerts too much pressure against your ear. After a time, the band somewhat relaxes itself (or maybe I just become accustomed to it) and it loses some of its aggravation, although I am aware they are on my head. With the lighter and over-the-ear BOSE, you did not even realize they were on your head.
I do not find the quality of the sound production signiticantly more superior to the BOSE. Perhaps I am disappointed since the price of the Sennheisers was about $60 over that of the BOSE. By the way, I tried to replace my current set of BOSE but even after four years, the design has not changed. I contacted them to see if I could obtain only the headband replacement, but their only offer was to ship me a new headset, for $60 and return of the old pair.
By the way, I use these headphones with my I-pod at home.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: overall design
What's not so great: not good for the competition
if you are a die hard music enthusiast as myself youre gonna love em and if you dont have them, buy them!!! i say that with more confidence than when stating my gender on an application (lol)...if you dont believe me, check out youtube and filter any john madden or lee corso football announcement that they might have done without relevance to the hdii25 and thats what is going to be strapped to their skulls. from tv networks to live on stage mixing their a favorite of everyone. if youre into mixing dance music as myself youtube an artist named magda, shes considered of the best in the world and is a fan of the hd's as well.from the high end, to the mids and down below these things respond and i mean respond. their light but robust, elegant but immaculate, suttle but unchained!!! every part is relaceable from the manufacture so if the cord gets crimped you can replace that and leave the rest, same thing with the rest of the item. the product is so sound in design that Sennheiser has not changed the it in over a decade...the split headhand and a 180 degree swiveling ear cup allows the most profound personalities wear these cans how ever you like on your dome... one ear monitoring is a breeze bc if you have one ear thats stronger as i, theres no wrong or right way way to wear these things, so youre not commited by the manufacture with a L/R assignment. ear fatigue isnt a enemy of mine anymore nor is wearing a hat. if you need something for in home or at the office enjoyment, their great. if you are a video/pc game junkie, perfect and i know from person theset hings are a dj/producer essential. as for the ipod guru youre not going to be able to provide the power they need to react like they can or should but they still have the stereo or 1/4 inch adapter so whether on the pc or on the mixer your good. all around kick a** product...
