What's great about it: Simple, Very Portable, Durable
"This is a great little camera. It seems to take pretty good pics for a small, portable camera. I bought it so that I have can always have a camera on me. It takes way better pics than my phone plus has decent zoom and flash. Great deal for the price."

Almost as good as the high quality cameras.

What's great about it: Easy to use. Video and some pictures are flawless.
What's not so great: Blurry pictures at time.
"I love the managebility of this camera. Clip it and go, got to love that! The colors on the pictures are vivid and clear. I was very surprised at how beautiful landscapes look with this camera. Indoors and lighting are not so great. I took some pictures of an illuminated fountain and they were poor quality. I also took some indoor infront of a lighted xmas tree and they were blurry when I viewed them on my computer yet they looked fine through the tiny window of the camera. Overall, it is a good value for the price. I am never without a camera having this one clipped on my purse. And battery life once charged? better than my nikon coolpix! I would recommend this camera to others. Overall, I think you will not be disappointed specially on the video quality. Love it!"

Great KIDS Camera - or for a "Big-Kid"
04/26/2009
By SundaeBrunch

|
What's great about it: All the major features without the big pricetag
What's not so great: picture quality - limited zoom
"Picture quality may not be like your 10+mp sony, nikon, or even kodak. But it sure beats buying those cheap-over the counter W--M--t or TRUs brands that just look grainy and cost more. It's only $59 (or $49 on sale). How awesome is it that your kids don't have to fight you over using your expensive camera. They can have their own, bring it on a school field-trip, and if it gets lots... think about what you spent?
This takes pictures (5mp), has video, audio (only after download not on preview), has zoom, has a flash, memory card slot and an LCD screen (Kids love to view their pictures). WOW! All that! As far as the "design". It has a mariners clip built in. I would borrow it from my son and clip it to my belt while I take pictures of them in the playground. I always know where it it. And it's shell is WATER-resistant (not water-proof, so don't soak it in a tub LOL). But if it gets a little water around it, it's okay. It's designed for the "sportsman". I love this product... great price compared to all those other ones that are you find in the toy dept (I've bought them all $19.99 - $79.99 for my 8 yr old son). He loves it and that's good enough for me."

Great for outdoors
04/26/2009
By OtherUses
|
What's great about it: Size, price, design
"I bought this camera for backpacking and camping trips. I wanted a cheap camera that was solidly constructed so I wouldn't feel bad if it was ruined while in the backcountry. Other reviews complained about the overcompensation of the flash indoors. The camera is labeled as being an outdoor camera and it does very well as such. I really like the carabiner design as I clipped it to my chest strap or belt while I was backpacking with my dog. It took very good pictures and short video clips on the one outing I've used it on so far."

great for children

What's great about it: great price, quality and style
What's not so great: flash
"I wanted a nice digital camera for each of my children (ages 5 & 6). I didn't want the bulky Fisher-Price or V-Tech with poor quality: I wanted a decent quality picture with an LCD viewer so they could see the picture after they took them and one that was rugged. With the Argus bean I got much more: great value, quality, durability and stylish. My 5 year old son picked up on most of the features. He knows how to use the video recorder too. It's amazing what kids take pictures of (have you ever seen a pix of your ceiling fan taken from the floor?) They love to show off their work on the the TV. The RCA plugs are easy to use. And another bonus: no more buying batteries-- just plug it into the USB port. AND, I was able to get them each a different color, so no fighting over whose is whose. Not just for kids: when we went on our weekend vacation to the indoor-waterpark, we didn't take our camera, we just used theirs."

Nice camera for its price

What's great about it: Easy to use, works great outdoors and cheap
What's not so great: overexposure problems indoors, flash eats up the battery quickly
"So far I like this camera. Has pretty good image quality. One minor annoyance is that the camera has a built in power reset button that is not at all mentioned in the manual nor at the Argus website. Its inside the memory slot entrance. Its a black rectangular shaped piece of plastic. If your camera freezes up use a non-conductive pointed object to press it down. The camera freezing up seems to be a common problem and if this button was mentioned in the manual I suspect there would be more positive reviews of this camera.
Another feature of the camera is that it can be used as a webcam but requires A LOT of light to get a good image."

not too flashy
01/23/2009

What's great about it: compactness, simple features
What's not so great: flash doesn't work
"It worked fine the first week. I took a few photos to try it out. What everyone else said about the flash is true; it over-exposes, so I bumped down the exposure compensation. Then it sat for a few weeks and I tried to use it again. The camera won't change the flash setting from "no flash" to auto or forced. I'm pretty camera savvy and I altered and tried EVERYsetting, then set it back to the defaults and it still won't work. When I move the joystick to the right to try to change the flash setting, the "activity light" just keeps blinking and blinking and blinking until I turn it off. I contaced Argus, I'll try the store next."

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: Freezes up
"Bought it the day before, took it home, charged it for 5 hrs, turned it own went through some of the features, turned it off, tried to turn back on again and it was frozen, the LED light was on and I could not get it off. Let it sit overnight for a longer charge, tried it this morning and the same thing happen. Tried all of the ways to make it work, no luck. I guess you get what you pay for."

What's great about it: Great for 5 & 6 year olds. They love this camera- it is easy for them to use-they can plug it in to tv& watch themselves
"My boys take great pictures with this handy camera. We had to send it back to the company b/c I let them plug it in and the inside plug snapped inside the camera, but Argus Bean replaced free with a new camera. I'm not letting them plug it in this time. We have two of these cameras and I'd recommend them for children. The video is really fun for the kids to use."

Ugly but Easy

By macguru

What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: So ugly, bad flash
"As others have said, it over compensates indoors so that the flash makes everything really bright. It's also extremely ugly and not really slim or easy to carry."

Not a bad little camera

By MominAR

What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: flash overcompensates indoors
"I bought this camera after buying the mini and haven't had any problems thus far except its inability to take sharp photos indoors. The flash overcompensates and washes out any subject in low light situations. I've had none of the problems with the rubber coming off or joystick breaking or feeling as if the clip was not capable. My 10 year old regularly uses it outside and it can take decent pictures inside with sufficient natural light in the room. I did buy a card to give her more storage. I like that it's rechargable and holds a charge for a long time. I'm pretty happy with this little camera and my child is doing well with it. It's an inexpensive, durable little camera with video capabilities that holds up well to an active 10 year old."

What's great about it: size, shape
What's not so great: hard to work, broke 3rd use
"This product was purchased for my 8 year old as a birthday gift after reading several great reviews online. The zoom button stopped working after the 3rd time of using it. It took several emails with the company to get the prduct returned. They also required me to pay $10.00 toward the shipping of a new replacement camera."

What's great about it: Compact, Carabiner hook Style, Excellent response
What's not so great: Not available in Silver
"This camera is pretty clever. This camera surely beats the keychain cameras! It has excellent response time with the menus and even power on. Excellent price as well. Didn't have to pay as much. It's a pretty cool camera especially for kids. For the price, I bought one for myself and one for my son."
