What's great about it: Set-up, Sound, BASS! What's not so great: picture not all that sharp. A little sound lag at times
"I knew this wouldn't give much of a suround sound effect but I needed something that will help with my 55" Samsung LED tv. I was really suprised with the amount of BASS this thing has. I had to alter the speaker volume a bit to hear the sound over the bass at times (really easy if you read the directions!). The overall volume power is great. Enough to hear from outside and the bass shakes my feet! AGAIN, get good HDMI cables (not insignia or dynex).
I do not know why people are saying that it does not work with the Xbox. I hooked up mine and it works GREAT!! Insert the HDMI cable from the xbox into the DVD option on the back of the BASS. EASY!! Just make sure you dont buy a cheap HDMI cable (which I'm sure this is the reason why people are having trouble). I recommend getting Rocketfish brand at least (120Hz speed min.)
1 problem is the HD picture. Since you have to have a HDMI cable going from the source to the Bass box. Then the bass box to the tv, there is a little distortion but no bad. Also, this causes a little lag in the sound. Lips dont match up. Is anyone else having this problem?? if so, what can I do to fix it?"

What's great about it: easy to hook up What's not so great: not very loud
"easy to set up but when hooked up with opt cable from tv to system as they say too. and have dtv and dvd hooked to it with hdmi cables it sounds good but not loud enough, my 46" vizio is much louder, and it only has two 10 watt speakers . after reading reviews and manual several hours, i decided to hook it up my own way. since tv , dtv, and dvd all produce dolby digital . i just used the audio cords(red & white) and went from tv to system and disconnected everything else, my vizio has 3 hdmi inputs so put hdmi from dtv and hdmi from dvd into vizio and put system on tv input and set volume on max on the system, and control the actual volume with tv remote or dtv remote and let me tell you it is way much louder . you can still use the sound field and you still get surround sound . i tried to put opt cord back on and you get the same low sound not bad but not nowhere near loud enough, took opt cord back off."

What's great about it: sleek looks easy hookup HDMI inputs What's not so great: nothing so far
"Just bought the sony ct100 a few days ago on sale for $199, it's a great little sound bar that looks & sounds good. The surround sound is active and works well with most dvd's i've watched so far, you get a nice wide spacious effect. I have it in my bedroom and it sounds great, the bass is very good nice and deep not too boomy. HD tv shows sound very good also, it's fun watching my primetime tv shows now. I'm a big fan of the CSI shows and they sound fantastic with the ct100, i'm very pleased with my sony soundbar. If you don't want wires all over the place, and need something that sounds great and is easy to setup the ct100 is the way to go."

What's great about it: Works just fine in small room with Samsung 50" TV. What's not so great: WILL NOT WORK WITH XBOX AND A VIDEO PROJECTOR
"It worked good with my Samsung 50'' tv but when I hooked it up to my video projector and the xbox 360 the sound lasted about 5 seconds and I could never get it to come back on after that. Of course the only reason I bought it was to play it with the xbox 360 when it was showing through the projector.
It did sound better than my tv when running it through the Samsung, it filled my bedroom with sound. But I am returning it as it is too expensive when it won't do everything I need. Overall I am disappointed."

What's great about it: The sound fills the room nicely with a crisp clean sound. What's not so great: Nothing yet
"This was indeed the best buy. It sounds much better than it looks. I have mine set up over the fireplace and with hardwood floors. The base can be heard all over this 2400 sq.ft. house. I used optical cables and use the RCA's for my Iphone. Dont buy the docking stationI It works only when you turn the TV off, the sub looks for another source and the sound from pandora is sweet. I thought of purchasing a 5:1, but all those speakers in the living room would be too much. I plan to play it all weekend watching college and pro games to see if it still holds up. I have no regrets on buying this thing. Sony obviously listened to consumers and presented a product that does the job well"

What's great about it: easy to set up, sound is very good, system is pretty loud What's not so great: surround sound, synch with TV other than sony
"I think this is a very good system of the price. if you are big on surround sound, it is much better to get a true surround sound system, However, if you just want to greatly enhance your TV's sound, then this is definitely the way to go. I purchased this for my basement which is about 800 sq-ft and surprisingly it sounds really good. It will not burst your ear drums, but it will definitely fill the room pretty nicely. As for setting up the system, I found that the instructions were straight forward and it was pretty simple."

What's great about it: The price, more bass than TV speakers What's not so great: The volume, volume, volume
"I went to the local BESTBUY store to get one of these. They had one connected to a TV so I gave a listen. The only thing I could tell was better that the TV speakers was the bass you get from this soundbar. The TV speakers are actually louder."

What's great about it: Ease of set up, HDMI switch, Power What's not so great: over hyped surround sound, sound from cable box
"Ok, dis regard the negative reviews. These people must not have HD sound fed into this because I have EVERYthing connected through HDMI and it sounds wonderful. The PS3 has truly come to life and I enjoy blu-rays even more now.
I will say that the sound from my cable box is pretty weak. But I believe thats because I have no control over this and it mostly comes out in 2.0 channel instead of 5.1 or 7.1 channel PCM. From the PS3 the sound is loud and clear. Also, I use the optical cable to run my audio out of my tv through antenna and it is very loud there as well so I am going to fault the cable box and not sound bar for lack of sound from cable box.
There really is no surround sound effect, but thats to be expected...its only 3 speakers. the sound does sound as though its moving throughout the room with the left and right channels.
I would buy this again in a heart beat."

What's great about it: everything What's not so great: nothing yet
"Do not hesitate in buying this product - I swapped a Bose 321 with this sound bar and couldn't be happier. Love Love Love the HDMI switching - I read a number of reviews regarding the sound and/or base - I'm thinking they purchased bad units because I have no issues with this - it sounds more "surround" than the Bose - I'm a bit of a theater junkie, have a home theater with 7.1 surround, so I'm accustomed to a high quality sound when watching movies, gaming and TV - this Sony sound bar sits in my family room for everyday viewing and the sound quality does NOT disappoint! Are there better sound bars on the market?? Sure...Do they have a reasonable price tag?? Nope!!
Incredible product for the $$.....and I'm thinking I need one for the bedroom now....Hmmm....."

What's great about it: Great potential, middle speaker actually sounds really good What's not so great: Bad manual, no bass (on mine anyway)
"I was really excited to get this. Even though I could have found it cheaper online, I think that supporting local stores is a good idea.
The reviews you've been reading that say 'Make sure that you have HDMI cables' are absolutely true. The quality of the signal is MUCH better. I even drove over to Comcast and got an upgraded box that had an HDMI output. Also, don't let the part of the manual that tells you that you 'must' put the optical into the TV rule out over common sense. The optical is much better coming from the real source of the audio - in this case, my cable box, it doubled the volume and improved the sound dramatically.
So, after three days and a lot of money on new cables, I got it sounding REALLY good on the middle speaker but still very little bass. I ran a test on a DVD movie and all of the speakers returned sound on the test...except for the sub-woofer. It was showing no signal.
I had no choice but to return it. I gave it a couple of stars because the middle speaker sounded great. Was it a bad subwoofer? I didn't do an exchange because my interaction when I went back didn't make me happy. Best Buy asks the customer service issues not be in the product reviews so I'll just leave it at that.
If the sound is muddled, be sure to get the HDMI cables, be sure you have an HDMI out on your components, ignore the manual on the optical line and send it out from the real source of audio. Good Luck. If you can get the bass working, this could be a great product."

What's great about it: Set up, sound quality What's not so great: Should be a way to mount it to the TV
"I need to preface this review with the fact that I got this sound bar for "less than free" (in Best Buy's package deal, it was cheaper to buy the TV and the soundbar than it was to just buy the TV), so I wasn't really expecting too much. That said, I am so impressed by this soundbar. I hooked it up to my Bravia TV with a HDMI cord, and it linked up easily - I can run all of the TV's functions through the soundbar's remote. I totally eliminated the sound from the TV and run through the soundbar all the time and it sounds GREAT. I also used an optical cord to run my Sony CD player/recorder to the soundbar's DVD jack, and the sound I get from this soundbar when playing CDs is equal to, if not better than, the sound I was getting from my Yahama speakers run through my JVC receiver. I wish there was a way to mount the soundbar to the TV (like you do when you buy a speaker shaped like this to go with a computer monitor), but other than that, I have no complaints!"

What's great about it: Multiple Optic and HDMI ports What's not so great: not the prettiest thing
"I traded in a Samsung HT-WS1R (it is the touch of color one on display with the LED TV in Best Buy) for this sony system because Samsung only had one optical port, and this one has 3, as well as 3 HMDI ports.
this system is louder than the WS1R, not a whole lot but enough to notice, it also allows you customize the Db levels of the base. the sub is wired but the wire is long enough to hide it behind the entertainment center.(this is ok because the bar collects the remote signals) the unit offers deep sound, ease of setup and use. while Sony could have made the Bar a little more attractive, they really put all they could into the functionality of the system for the buck."

What's great about it: The sound is awesome and it comes in a small package What's not so great: It could be a bit thinner
"When I purchased my new Samsung LED B7000 the first thing I thought was this TV is awesome the picture quality is great and crushes the Sony XBR9 in picture quality but what I did notice was the sound wasn’t that great. So I searched for a good quality sound bar that was not to expensive and both the Sony HTC C1000 and Samsung HT WS1 was the two that came up by reviewers. When I walked in to Best Buy they had the HT WS1 displayed with the Samsung LED and it looked and sounded great so I decided to purchase it as the sale rep also suggested that the Samsung would give me a better sound over the Sony. When I got home, I took it out the box and the shiny black finish matches perfectly with my new B7000 and I was excited to hear the difference between the TV’s speakers and the sound bar. Once connected via optical cable I cracked the volume up to its max and was very disappointed. At it’s max I barely could hear any difference between my TV’s speakers and the sound bar, actually the Tv’s speakers were a lot louder but the sound bar had lower tone that gave a deeper sound but not worth the money. At this point I decided to keep the system not knowing if the Sony would be any better. Then I noticed my wifi network connection not working on my laptop, Tivo and PS3 and I was thinking it must be my router but finding out that all my other rooms network connection was working except for my bedroom where I have the HT WS1 so I decided to disconnect the wireless subwoofer from the outlet and once I did that, I began to get my network connection back.. This was not going to work so I decided to return the Samsung sound bar and gave the Sony HT C100 (not wireless via HDMI) a shoot and I could not be happier the Sony bumps and you get great lows and sound at mid level (20-25) and when cracked up to 50 (max) it really sound loud and crisp but a bit to loud for the neighbors. Don’t expect a 7.1 surround sound system but for the money it is worth every penny. It could be thinner to match my Samsung LED that is only 1.2” thin but not a big issue I’m sure in the future they will make the sound bars thinner like the TV’s so it can be flushed when hung on the wall.
Overall Sony HTC C100 is a great sound bar that meets my expectation and sadly the Samsung WS1 looks good but is not a match to the sound quality that the Sony produces. So if you’re in the market for either one and not sure what to get don’t do what I did and go for the looks you will regret it, get the Sony HTC C100."
