What's great about it: great sound and volume
What's not so great: the automatic detection can get annoying (see review)

"I wanted to replace large floor speakers with bookshelf speakers to free up space. With that I would need a subwoofer. Luckily on black Friday Best Buy had several Polk speakers on sale. I got a few sets of the t15's for front and back and this sub all for 1/2 price. At these prices, this sub has exceeded my expectations and puts out way more bass than my floor speakers ever did. Also its nice having the speaker powered and doing the work rather than putting the burden on my receiver. I chose this over the PSW100 model because it has more power and it is smaller (it is bottom ported and the PSW100 is ported out the front which adds more size to the box). I had read other reviews saying it was large but it really only has about an inch added on each side of the 10" speaker so its not bad at all.
Okay so the one thing that annoys me is the automatic on/off feature. The sub has an standby/auto/off three way switch. I leave it on auto now because I forgot to turn it off a few times after a movie and it was on for days. During a point in the movie that has little bass, it will go into auto standby. When it does this you hear it turning off. It is a fairly noticeable "pop" noise. Then it has a few second delay turning back on when the bass is present again. As people know a most newer movies are like this, they have a talking scene and then cut right to a louder scene. Its a small annoyance that can be avoided by turning the sub on and off manually, but like I said you have to remember to do it.

What's great about it: Good value for the money
What's not so great: Nothing

"I had an existing surround-sound system that was outfitted originally with a passive subwoofer, so I finally decided to add a powered subwoofer for more depth. The setup instructions were very straightforward and I had it connected in less than five minutes. This subwoofer nicely complements movies and music without producing an overwhelming "boominess". I'm not an audio expert, but clearly reading the setup directions for your receiver is also important since mine had various settings which all invariably affected the overall sound. Placement, of course is key and I had to experiment a bit. I finally placed it strategically in the corner of the room so it was somewhat hidden, but also allowed for some reflection against the walls."

What's great about it: Thundering base in a 10"
What's not so great: nothing

"This Polk subwoofer was a great price on sale at $130 and matched the brank of my other Polk speakers. The base is thundering when needed and gives a deep low base when appropriate. I was more than happy with the outcome of this product!"

What's not so great: limited power output

"This speaker sounds great. It is lacking on the power side so I bought two at such a great price and believe me, I have plenty of bass to satify almost anyone. Great sound quality and I was surprised it came with such a long warranty period.
Overall I'm very surprised by the accuracy of the bass and extremely happy with the sound for the price:)

What's great about it: Looks great, sounds tight.
What's not so great: Too weak for earthshattering bass in a larger room.

"I got this on sale so I am basing my value for price score on the fact that I paid less then half retail for it. At that price its an excellent value, even for a larger room.

If you want earth shattering bass you need to look at other subs. If you have some nice full range speakers that need help for movies or bass heavy music then this might fit the bill. It did for me.

"This is my first powered subwoofer, and I am not an adiophile so I can just say that I am very pleased with the sound & performance of this speaker. I suppose the 200W will provide an above average performance than the starter 100W and at a sale price, I am happy."

What's great about it: The fact that there's nothing bad about it.
What's not so great: If I had something bad to say, believe me, I would have returned it and ranted how bad it was.

"Right before the holidays, I decided it was time to upgrade from a 2 channel large floor standing speaker set with a receiver that I'd had for about 14 years. I had been debating for a few months what to get and what not to get. I decided on keeping my Yamaha floor standing speakers with 12" woofers, 4" mids and 1" tweets b/c they sound better than most of what is available in either a satellite or floor standing speaker today. However, my receiver needed replacing with something that distributed even power to all 5 channels and had an LFE (low frequency effects) output. I added a yamaha rx-v365 receiver, amazing 5 stars all down the line, a polk audio cs180 center channel, 5 stars all the way around and Polk T15 2 way bookshelfs for the rear channels. That sounded amazing. Didn't think I needed a sub... but seeing this one on sale for $125.... I had to see what my $125 could get me and I'll tell you what, if you happened to have seen this sub at your local bestbuy for 125 bucks and figured it was too good to be true and passed on it, if you find someone who has this sub in their home theater system, you will probably kick yourself for not picking it up. $250 as the regular price, even that is a steal. If I didn't know the price, I could probably be hoodwinked into paying twice as much. Very very accurate reproduction of low frequency effects for movies. Name the style of music and this sub will not fail you. I have this set up in my basement. The basement is an unfinished 20'x48' space and this is all is just about in the center of it. At about half volume on the receiver, with the LFE output level at 0 and the sub turned up to 3/4 volume, the whole house shakes. You literally cannot hear what someone is saying upstairs no matter where you are because the reverberation of sound is mind numbing and in the basement you literally have to yell from one side of the standard side recliner couch to the other to hear one another. Not to mention that you can feel the concrete foundation shaking violently in scenes where the LFE sounds are very prevalent. I keep the volume of the sub at half way and barely get to the half way on the volume of the receiver. For many years I have been an audio enthusiast, but due to low cash flow had not been having any personal fun... and now, I have the system I've dreamed of for a number of years. If you do have a system with floor standing speakers that have large woofers like I do, you may not need a sub... then again, that's what I thought... until the moment I added this particular high perfoming low cost sub and I wouldn't dream of not having it now. 5 stars. This thing has the punchiness of an 8" but the deep sustained lows of a 12 or 15. if you think the 100 watts RMS or the 200 watts peak aren't enough, give it a try... if you're not completely pleased, there probably would be no pleasing you. I now have friends that have systems that costed them 2-4 times what I emptied my wallet for, and they all want to come to my house for music and movies. Go figure. Thank you Best Buy. A king's system on a pauper's salary. Lovin it."

What's great about it: Great price and even better sound

"Having a Bose speakers, I thought I had really great sound on my Onkyo. When I added the sub woofer it was like a whole new system. It really enhances both the audio and when watching dvd's with 5.1 Dolby. Not to mention, it was far less than I expected. I don't think you can go wrong with this one."

What's great about it: Easy set up and built very well!
What's not so great: I can't think of anything bad about it.

"I bought this Polk sub on sale for $125 and so far it has been well worth the money! I have a 12in. sub that still works that I replaced with this 10in. The bass seems a tad more tight with the smaller woofer. I might wire them together with the 12in near my viewing area (couch) and let that thump the couch. Dunno yet.

Stand alone it is working very well. The 12in sub I have is supposed to be a lot more powerful wattage wise but I think this 10in Polk works a lot better and I haven't even tuned the receiver or went past 1/2 on the subs volume knob.

Great buy! If I had some extra scratch I would have bought two of them.

What's great about it: Got this on a half-price deal and the value for the price is excellent.

"I added this sub woofer to to my surround sound system (two Bose 10.1 speakers, a Bose center channel speaker, and two wall-installed Polk rear speakers) after doing without a sub for 4 years. I thought the Bose front tower speakers provided more than adequate bass but, after installing this unit, discovered how wrong I was. I have a vaulted great room with an open loft above and the surround with this bass now fills the space very well -- have to be careful as my condo neighbors may not like my new affinity for playing the system at a higher volume.

Installation was a snap and I get very good sound from this sub with the volume set slightly less than mid-point. I also like that it consumes no power when no music is being driven through it (it effectively powers itself on only when needed).

What's great about it: Great price
What's not so great: No complaints so far

"My JBL sub crapped out after 8 years and I was looking for a good quality replacement that wouldn't break the bank. This Polk sub has definitely fit the bill so far (I've had it for almost two months). I chose this over the comparable Sony that also had great reviews. For the price difference (only $25 more at the time), I figure I couldn't go wrong with the Polk name."

What's great about it: Excellent Range and Definition, Outstanding Price
What's not so great: Nothing I have found.

"This sub has excellent range with clear and precise definition. It is capable of melding with surround speakers from the smaller end to fairly large and high end. It has plenty of power to satisfy anyone who appreciates quality sound. I grabbed this at half price so it was an amazing buy. There are units out there with much more invested in the cabinetry and are much more to look at, but this unit has very clean, contemporary lines, and blends well, despite its not insignificant size. I would highly recommend this sub for anything less than an audiophile system and even then it would provide a positive contribution."
