The stainless steel is beautiful and easy to clean (I use windex multi-purpose with vinegar, looks excellent). The controls being on top makes for an even nicer visual appeal. I went with the LG dishwasher since my other appliances are LG (and work great), and I wanted the handles to match.
Initially, I hated the functionality. I used the normal cycle, and the dishes were still dirty, and still wet. I tried again with pre-rinsing the dishes, and same thing. I don't mind hand-washing dishes, so I basically figured this was going to become a very expensive decoration for the kitchen. However, when I tried the "Power Scrub" even without pre-rinsing, the dishes were spotless and dry. So from now on I always use that setting, and my dishes, glasses and silverware are ready to go straight into the cabinet.
I think dishwashers in general are over-priced, and this model is no exception.
At this point, I would definitely recommend this dishwasher, with the caveat of not using the normal cycle. Hope this helps anyone looking to purchase.
What's great about it: Looks, Functionality
What's not so great: Price
This product is... Great for pots & pans, Quiet, Well-matched to my appliances, Easy to load adjustable racks, Able to deliver spotless dishes, Great at drying dishes

We bought this expensive dishwasher and after only 3 years, dishes remain dirty in spite of the fact that we rinse it before loading, steel side of the dishwasher are streaky with soap, soap is not totally dissolved, does not dry. The only good thing is that it is quiet.
To make it worse we called LG recommended service shop. The service person charged us $100 to tell us that there is nothing wrong with the dishwasher and LG is a bad buy in any case.
This dishwasher recommendation was made by the Best Buy salesperson.

I love love love this dishwasher. I have a small son that still takes a nap during the day and no matter when I run my appliance, it never wakes him up. I can load it with a full load or just load the top rack with a few dishes and I still don't have to worry about anything not getting cleaned. If you are in the market for a new dishwasher, stop looking, this IS the one.
What's great about it: Ease of use, looks, super quiet, and it plays a little melody instead of a harsh beeping sound when the cycle is done.
This product is... Good for delicate dishes, Great for pots & pans, Quiet, Designed to save time and water, Easy to load adjustable racks, Able to deliver spotless dishes, Great at drying dishes

Our newly constructed house has an open-concept plan with the living room & dining room open to the kitchen. So noise control in the kitchen was very important to us. We cannot be more happy with this dishwasher. While it is not completely silent, it is much quieter than I could have imagined. We also have a toddler, so the hidden controls under the countertop were also an important feature to us. He still has not found the control panel. The wash cycle is ~2 hours long, but the dishes come out clean. Some people complain that food remains, but as long as you rinse off the chunks of food first, the rest comes off clean. The level of drying is acceptable, but there will be a few cups on the top rack that might have a little moisture still on top, even with rinse aid. However, our previous dishwashter left so much water on everything, we had to hand dry everything. So this is really not an issue for us. I would highly recommend this dishwasher. We've been in our house for a few months & have had no trouble.
What's great about it: Low noise, hidden controls, sleek design
What's not so great: Nothing to speak of
This product is... Great for pots & pans, Quiet, Well-matched to my appliances, Easy to load adjustable racks, Able to deliver spotless dishes

We were upgrading our kitchen and LG appeared to be a brand worth looking at. Big mistake, we wanted a quiet unit and this is Very quiet; but the dishes are never clean and reliability is very poor. Within 6 months the new unit failed twice and it was replaced by LG with another unit that was just as bad. I think the replacement units are factory returns that are 'fixed'. The replacement unit has failed 5 times in 5 years. It has had the motor unit replaced 3 times. The only time the dishes come clean is if I wash them before I put them in the unit. Oh yes, the rack has rusted through and some of the fingers have broken off. We also purchased a washer and dryer at the same time. Neither are great and I spend so much time fixing them I almost know all the codes by heart. I just finished fixing the washer, error code OE, before I wrote this review. I will never buy another LG product.
What's great about it: very quiet

I BOUGHT THE MORE GOOD LOOKING MICROWAVE, STOVE, FRIDGE, DISHWASHER LG BRAND, AND I THINK I WASTE MY MONEY.
AFTER 6 MONTHS THE DISHWASHER STOP WORKING, STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY CHANGE THE MOTOR.
6 MORE MONTHS, THE MICROWAVE STOP WORKING ALSO, OUT OF WARRANTY I DECIDE TO PUT IT ON THE GARBAGE.
THE STOVE LAST ONE MORE MONTH, OUT TO THE GARBAGE TOO.
NOW THE DISHWASHER GOT BROKEN AGAIN, I JUST PUT IT ON THE GARBAGE. THE FRIDGE IS STILL WORKING. PRAYING WILL WORK FOR A COUPLE YEARS. I BOUGHT FRIGIDAIRE AND THEY ARE WORKING JUST FINE. LESS MONEY BETTER QUALITY.
GET MY ADVICE, STAY AWAY FROM LG PRODUCTS. BAAAAD QUALITY.

The LG dishwasher runs quietly as advertised. It dries the dishes well, as long as you leave the door closed for the complete cycle. And it looks nice with our matching LG stove and refrigerator.
However, those are not the reasons you buy a dishwasher. You buy a dishwasher to wash dishes. And this one, to put it bluntly, falls flat in that department.
We rinse the dishes before loading the machine, run the tap water hot so that the machine cannot use the 'water too cold' excuse. We use a recommended amount of a low-phosphate liquid dishwasher-specific detergent. And still, we often find little bits of food have been welded onto the dish surface by the very hot drying process.
I am leaving for the store right now to see if I can return this abject failure of a dishwasher.
What's great about it: Pretty outside
What's not so great: Worthless inside
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This new dishwasher is taking some time to get used to . Is very quiet and the compacity it huge. I did discover that you can do a top only wash so it's like 1/2 a load. Don't have enough dishes to fill and run being there's only two of us but I'm pleased with it's performance. Come on Thanksgiving! No 3 and 4 loads for me this year!
What's great about it: The compacity!
What's not so great: Clean/Dirty suction indicator keeps falling off.

My old dishwasher made it 20 years before I had to replace it. It still worked but it sounded like a jet aircraft taking off! The racks in this dishwasher are not as flexible as they were in my old Whirlpool unit but the silverware basket is far superior and I like the fact that everything is stainless inside and out. Since we put in granite counter tops I was more than pleased to find that this unit screws into the cabinet frames instead of having to put a brace up under the counter top.
The best thing of all about this unit is the sound - there isn't any! The first time we ran the dishwasher we actually had to open it up to make sure that it was working properly. We've been using the dishwasher detergent that comes in pellets and it's done a great job. You'll definitely need some anti-spotting liquid in this unit though or you'll be wiping your glassware down after every wash.
I love that the controls are on the top of the unit too - it gives a much less cluttered appearance to the kitchen that way. And it's Energy Star rated so hopefully we'll save some money operating it!
What's great about it: Looks beautiful, extraordinarily quiet, easy to use
What's not so great: Needs anti-spotting liquid, racks aren't as flexible as I would like

The LG is a great dishwasher. It seems to clean excellent. It has a lot of space for large items. It looks great from the outside. It is extremely quiet. The negative is, you don't know when it is done, the inside smells like rotting fish, you have to clean the stainless steel front every time you use it because of water spots, and until you have quite a few drinking glasses in the top they keep falling down. I would not buy stainless steel again.
What's great about it: It's quiet
What's not so great: It has a smell inside to it and you don't know when it is done.

What a piece of junk. I would give it zero stars if that was an option.
From day 1 it did not get our dishes clean. You basically have to wash them yourself before loading them. Our previous dishwashwer was a cheap Kitchenaid from the eighties and it cleaned so much better.
After 2 years we already had to pay to have the motor replaced. We mentioned to the repairman that it has never cleaned the dishes and asked if it was a problem with our water pressure. He said, no, that the problem with this model is that the 'motor is too small' so it does not clean well, and the motor will continue to burn out regularly.
Also, the drawer does not slide in and out properly. And the door drops down with a 'plop'. It is not particularly quiet. It is just 2 years old. And it was not cheap!
What a piece of junk.
BTW, we bought an LG microwave around the same time. Also expensive. It broke 2 weeks after the warranty expired.
I will never buy another LG product.

I bought this dish washer a little over a year ago. The washing cycle is alright. But the drying cycle is really bad. It does not dry the dishes and cups well enough because it is meant to be "energy" efficient that It only blows medium hot hair during the dry cycle without generating any real heat. The result is there is always water on top and inside every cup/mug. Also, the noise level started out really quite first year. Now that my one year warranty is over, it is beginning to make much louder noise when washing dishes. It is not what I expected from LG especially paying a higher price than other brands' dishwashers.

I got this machine during an opening sale, so the price was right. I went in looking for a Bosch, but went home with this and i have not been disappointed.
Cleans dishes and anything else very well. Work cycle is quiet enough for me at 52dBA (2 more than the Bosch i went in there for).
It does not always dry perfectly, but i think those are mostly items with creases or bends, like plastic lids.
No problems yet after 1 month of use. I would recommend this product.

Very disappointed from Day 1. Poor quality. Does a terrible job at washing dishes. I only use Cascade complete and always rinse my dishes first. I always have to use the soak and scrub button and dry my own dishes. The wheels on the rollers come off frequently which is annoying and the quality is just junk. Stay away from LG. Upset with all their products in my kitchen.

E1 water leakage problem indicator comes up when there is no leakage. I raised the hose to prevent siphon effect. It worked for two days, and E1 appears again. It happens only when delay is set up. It’s not first time when LG equipment fails, but it’s a last time with me. I’m not buying LG products anymore.
