What's great about it: Improved graphics with stunning realism
What's not so great: Brett Favre is on the cover, but not in the game!!!!

"There are many improvements, like real commentators again, more realistic snow/turf, endzone celebrations, and more realistic tackling. I love how you take the Madden Test so that the game adapts to your skill level. Unlike Madden 08, turnovers are less numerous. The Rewind feature really helps when you make a stupid decision and want to redeem yourself. Bottom line is that this game is the most realistic madden ever!! ALL MADDEN FANS MUST GET THIS GAME!!!"

"Such a good game. Deshaun Jackson is so fast. Same with Randy. It seems so real. great moves. Nothing wrong with this game but LaDainian Tomlinson is a bit slow. Every thing else is great, sorry PERFECT. Best 08 game so far."

"I was walking through Best Buy with my two kids when I saw two young men playing Madden 09 on an XBox 360. I literally stood there with my mouth open for a few minutes. The realism is amazing. From the player actions and reactions during and after plays, to the fans in the stands, it looks like you're watching real people. Much, much more realistic than the PS2 version (which is what I have at home). I'm almost afraid to buy it because I don't think I'll ever leave the house (just kidding),"

What's great about it: Madden is fun, don't get me wrong, but I could keep my 08 and experience the same thing
What's not so great: Madden 09 doesn't improve, it just gets worse in so many ways

"I borrowed this game from my brother and right away I was disappointed with the game. The opening cinematic of Madden 08 was passionate and wet the appetite of the gamer before pwning a rival football team, Madden 09 completely cuts that out and puts some lame intro to the title with nothing else. The layout of the game menu is the same as 08 in as far as I can tell, every way. No differences. The game play they somehow messed up with the new feature of rewind where it basically gives players a 5th down either to take away a gamer's touchdown that would have made you lose or to give yourself another chance at winning when you should have lost on the last play. Madden is a simulator, a game designed to make you feel apart of what the everyday footballer goes through, with features like rewind it takes that away. Real football there is no rewind, so why is it in Madden 09? Sure you can turn it off but the fact that they put that in makes me wonder what good feature they cut to keep rewind in. The game play seems slightly more challenging making drives less productive and more challenging. My hail marys of 08 no longer work at all in 09 because the CB actually stay with the WR. Now on that note I don't know how the stats play into effect with that because everyone knows Moss could burn basically any CB anytime anywhere. I'm not sure if Madden keeps up with roster updates but last I checked Matt Ryan was playing like any other top QB in the league and yet his rating is in the 80's hes easily a 91 or above based on his current way of playing so how about a update and that will be solved, Brett Favre on that note too is not a 99 or at least he might have been LAST SEASON! This season hes at the highest a 89 overall rating so yea an update would be nice. The graphics are not improved much if at all. The players look the same, the field looking only a little more patchy as if the grounds keeper sleeps on the job and doesn't do his job. One major issue I have with the game is the lack of features they put into creating a team and player. They only offer about 10 faces based on skin color, and the team logos are the worst logos they could have come up with, honestly, who wants to play as the angry bee hives? They were bad in 08 and whats worse is they didn't add any new ones or take away any old ones, they just left it alone. The uniforms too are lacking in anything good, leaving uniforms looking tacky, with limited differences and I've noticed that based on your team colors the fan zone of a stadium screws up, like I could have primary colors red with white as secondary and my fan zone wall will be a solid red because the text was also red with no way to change the color, unless I wanted to change the entire uniform colors. The Superstar is nice but a little weird or too difficult to really create a "super" star. The mini events you can do to increase stats seem pointless because the low end challenge gives you 1 to 2 points while it takes for most important stats 9 points just to increase your 75 to a 76 or whatever. The higher you make the challenge it increases in difficulty and if you fall short or out right fail you don't earn any points and your done for that day missing out on any stats increase. They need to focus on the little things like superstar, create a team, and create a player more, because no matter how fun you think football is playing as the same teams gets really old, and with all the Maddens throughout the years football is starting to lose its fun factor for me, how about you? I'm not sure if there is anything good to say about this game. All I know is that it is basically Madden 08 with some minor changes, most of which are not for the better. Oh wait I can think of one good thing. They completely cut out Madden's annoying comments throughout the game unless you listen to him while you ask for his help, they replaced him with a NFL network announcer who actually sounds much more reasonable but what he often says reflects as if he knows nothing of the sport(which is funny because I believe he was a WR in college) The music for the game is horrible, no stand out bands, or if there are they chose songs from them that suck. I don't care if the music majority of young people listen to is rap these days, don't make an entire games soundtrack rap unless its a game about rapping. Madden 08 at least had some better songs with some well known people like Ozzy Osbourne. I'm not gonna say go out and by the 2k series of football but I am gonna recommend you hold off on Madden 09 because EA needs to be sent a message that they are ruining their games and need to stop buying up all the other companies. Viva la good games!"

What's not so great: All these games are basically the same.

"I don't have too much to say about this game except that it's a football game with some added features. I bought this game thinking it would be so much more then it was, but it wasn't. I haven't spent more then 2-3 hours on this game and I've had it for a month. This is just my opinion though, don't let this detour you from a game that you'll probably love, if your a die-hard fan."

What's great about it: Realism, Ability to enhance complexity of the game.
What's not so great: A little difficult on beginners

"I bought this as the first game for my new XBox 360. It's very impressive. There's a sense of realism provided by solid graphics, changes in the weather, and audio play by play from NFL announcers. There seems to be an almost endless degree of enhancements for advanced gamers.

I'd like to see a little more help for beginners, but still, I'm figuring things out pretty well. I just need to find out how to trade Chad Pennington from the Jets to the Dolphins."

"Great game, very fun, but definitely just like last years and the year before. They of course added more stuff to the game. There's always something new and fun every year they do another one. But for me I honestly buy the Madden game every other year. Same thing with any other EA Sports game. The updated rosters just aren't worth paying another 60 bucks. But the graphics on this game are phenomenal!! But just as IGN and everyone else rates the Madden games every year around an 8.5, it just tells you that it's exactly what your expecting it to be. A very fun NFL football game with great graphics."

"Madden 2009 is defintely the best one yet. It actually has one of the NFL's great players on the cover, too, in Brett Favre. The new xbox live update feature is great too and it makes the game even more realistic. Madden 09 is a great game for anybody to play."

What's great about it: Love the balanced game play
What's not so great: On Live, trolls become gods because the game can be exploited

"In real game play it's quite a good game once the glitches have been worked out in coverages and some cheat plays. In the Live version, there are some really goofy things: not much fatigue for the all-game hurry up player, no ratings lost for teams that don't punt and always go for it on 4th and long.
Also difficult to throw long even if you have a good team."

"Aw man, this is the best madden yet, I play it 24/7. I like the graphics and how difficult it is. There is no easy game, you have to play your best in every game to win, but a lot of gamers and I like that. I recommend this to all football fans."
