"I cannot remember how many PC's I have owned or used for work - from laptops to towers - countless. I felt they were everything I wanted. But in recent years my needs changed and the PC did not change with me. I needed/wanted a media center. Something that the family could use for everything including homework, iTunes, family calender, movie making, photos, and much more.

I am still learning the ways of the iMac, but have adapted well to it's general flow of things. The setup was a snap. I was on the net within five minutes out of the box on my home network.

The software that resides day of purchase is everything I was looking for. You can manage your photos, videos, movies, and family calenders with no extra purchases. The online documentation for the computer and software was complete.

The keyboard is soft to the touch. I did get a zCover at the Mac store. I wanted it to remain as clean as possible with it's daily use. some reviewers claimed the skin made it hard to press on the keys, but I have yet to experience that issue. It is different, but not difficult.
The screen is gorgeous! Some reviewers reported some glare, but perhaps my placement prevents that as an issue for me.

I did purchased additional RAM for the movies I wanted to make. Installation was snap. Directions right with the computer. A search of YouTube also had videos showing the simplicity of the upgrade. This version should come with the max RAM in my opinion, but that issue is minor.

The computer resides in a built-in desk in my kitchen and has quickly become the central hub of the family with little effort to convince them!

Picked up a Slingbox and now watch TV on it as well!

I also bought a book on the iMac thinking I would need to read up on everything to get the most of it. I was wrong for the most part. It has come in handy for some minor details, but for this computer is so intuitive, it was not necessary.

I do not consider myself a computer geek by no means, but I do have a passion for them and have enjoyed this computer more then I could have imagined. I would encourage you to read the online documentation and help info first before buying a book first. You may not need it.

My work life will always be PC, but my personal life has be converted to a MAC. If you are on the fence, go for it, you will be more then pleased with the purchase.

"My first pro photo editing experience blew me away as to how fast I was able to deliver my finished, edited, portraits with special effects. The customers response was what every photographer could ever hope for.... she got choked up, smilin big and welled up with tears because the photo's were so beautiful! That's my 1rst reward for purchasing a APPLE IMAC! I am sure there will be many to come. I do wish that APPLE would provide manuals, NOT LOADED with the IMAC's sofware, so as to find my way thru the new format. I have to smile tho when I stumble upon a new way to do something and I find it too cool! I know I know.... it doesn't take much to excite me~! Anyways... I am very happy with the IMAC my new friend in the photography business. Can't wait to use it at a wedding doing slideshows.... making me and my IMAC everyones ENVY!"

"After seeing many pc's I decided on getting a mac. I am glad I did. I was surprised at its speed. It boots up and shuts down almost instantly. The OS is okay. I only say that because I'm not used to mac but still I love it. I would recommend it to anyone."

Pros: Its small, fast, nice looking, less then 1 1/2" thick.
Cons: NOTHING!!!!!

"Ive been using Macs for about 5 years now, and this is my favorite Mac. I show it to my friends and they are very impresses by it. I recommend it to everyone. and everything is so easy and straight forward on it. Starts up in less then 30 seconds. I have had no problems with it at all. It is a great computer."

Best Purchase Ever Made 07/25/2008

"I have always been a PC lover, and i always thought they were the greatest Computers on Earth, Until i Started getting interested in making short videos with some of my friends. I had about a 4 year old sony laptop, which had a massive 14 gig harddrive, so i needed a new computer. I went out and bought what was supposed to be one of the fastest and best PC's. I began making short videos, not even HD, on it, and guess what, It would crash 2-3 times every time i would edit videos. This may of been due to Vista, but either way it got very frustrating. I tried to live with it, but when the editing program would freeze and i would have to completely shut down the computer to close it, which would happen quite a few times while editing, I decided that i needed a different computer. I was very frustrated since i had what was supposed to be a excellent PC, and it couldn't even make simple 5 minute videos without freaking out. It would also freeze or crash occasionaly when i was just typing a essay. I talked to some expert video guys about it, and they sad GET A MAC. So i saved a little money, and bought this little puppy. Let Me tell you something, it was the best purchase ive ever made. It was an amazing relief to have a computer that actually worked like it should. This Mac works flawlessly for just about everything, from just surfing the web, to writing essays, to making powerpoint presentations, to even making hour long HD videos.(ive gotten better). Since getting this mac many of my family members have decided to make the change from pc to mac, being fed-up with thier PC's. Even if all you do is surf the web, maybe put a few pictures on your computer, and make simple documents, you will love this mac. The mac OS X system makes everything so much easier to do. The great thing about macs is that even if your a die hard windows user, like my dad, who needs it to run programs for work, you can run it natively thanks to the intel processors.

If your trying to choose between a mac and pc, and are worried about the price of the mac, BUY A MAC! I have never heard of anyone who didnt love thier mac."

"I have had my imac for six months. After going through a nightmare with a pc system I cannot say enough good things about the iMac. I first choose apple computers because I had heard about the ease of use and the very few viruses they suffer. Right out of the box the system will impress you before it's even turned on. The system is so simple to set up. one wire for phone jack and the monitor/computer plugs into the wall and you're done. The built in speakers sound rich and deep considering they are not external. The screen is amazing with clear detailed images and rich color. It has a nice built in camera. Also this system comes with a small remote to operate the itunes music and video ( very convenient ). The itunes program is so nice to work with I also purchased an ipod and a dock for my home stereo and car. I love having all my music in a digital format. I plan on converting over to the apple iphone once the 3g model releases. In addition over the six months I have not had one issue with viruses. None! The system loads quickly as it does not have to load all the start up programs a PC requires. No need to constantly run virus protection. In fact I have never been asked to run any kind of program on my iMac. I will be a loyal apple customer unless something changes in the future. Buy this system. You will be very happy."

"I am never going back to a PC! An apple is actually fun, not like a PC where you feel like everything is a work. If you have kids or nephews or nieces then you will love the Iphoto, and Imovie. .mac has online storage so you can share with friends and family. I am also so glad that I went with the 24". You will absolutely not be disappointed!"

"The mac is an outstanding computer i had so far. It has handy and fun features. Such as a built in camera! Great graphics!!! The computer will never let you down. This computer is great because you would never worry about viruses. For this price for this computer is very unbelievable. I would think i wouldnt afford it. But i would rather pick this computer than a dell or others."

Excited to make the change 06/23/2008

"I purchased over this past weekend and I am very excited to finally make the change from the PC world to the Apple world. So far I am very impressed with the little things that make computing easier on the IMac. It's been a great experience. I was very disappointed with Vista on my last pc which I just purchased less than a year ago. I am going to move forward with the IMac. Perhaps writing a review after 1 day may not be the best idea, but I am very pleased with the initial setup, programs provided, ease of use, 24" display and many other small things. One of the other issues I had with my PC was all the trial software they load and try to sell you which clutters up your pc. I don't have any of that with the IMac. I did purchase the MS Office for Mac student edition. I finally switched to a Mac and so far I am loving it."

"This is unequivocally the best desktop computer that I have ever owned. I used a Mac in the 1980's and then switched to PC's for over 20 years. I have now switched back to Apple after the fantastic design and product quality and performance they have delivered in the past 2 year.
The new apple imac is simply the best desktop computer ever. The only piece of software that i bough for it was Microsoft Office 2008 and it works very smoothly. I enjoy the quality 24inch screen and the nicest keyboard i have used to date."
