What's great about it: Easy to set up.
What's not so great: Nothing that I can see.
I bought this to be able to go wireless in my home. It works great. It was also very easy to install with the step by step CD instructions that came with the router. I'm no IT guy so anyone with some computer knowledge can set this up.

What's great about it: Initial set-up
What's not so great: SecureSpot Embedded security software blocks internet access
Installed on a network with a 2 PC's running /Win XP and a Mac running Snow Leopard with no problems. Default configuration is with a 30-day trail on the security software SECURESPOT. After that they want to charge a monthly fee. with all the other security software on my computers I don't need it. Problem is even though you disable it, Securespot turns itself back on, but since your not a paying subscriber it blocks all access to the internet! This happened several times with calls to tech support. If you want to know more, take a look at this link:

DLink is messing this up big time. Do your self a favor and look for another brand of router.

What's great about it: It was very easy to setup and was up and working in no time.
What's not so great: For being a Range Booster, I don't notice that the signal is that much farther then my previous router.
This is a great router if you're looking to upgrade from a "g". It's easy to install works great and we have both a pc and a mac and there was no problem getting it connected to either one. Great Value for any home user looking to get more power and I would recommend this router.

What's great about it: Fast connection, no signal drops, cheaper than most other comparable N routers
What's not so great: Set-up for Mac users is not very friendly
Fantastic product for the price. My girlfriend and I have been using the router on two different computers (Mac + PC) for about three months. We live in an apartment with many different tenants using wireless routers. So far we have never lost our wireless connection for any reason or caught any interference. The wireless connection is also fast enough to support most online gaming and movie streaming with minimal lag problems. The PC set-up on my girlfriend's computer was a breeze.
My only problem with it is that there is almost no help from the instructions out of the box with how to set it up with a Mac, even though it advertises that it works with one. You have to go to their website for instructions and even those are not very clear or detailed. Luckily I have set up a few different wireless routers in the past and managed to get it up and running on my Mac after about an hour or two of playing with it.
Overall it is a great product from my experience. If you own a Mac and can get over the frustration of the initial set-up, everything after works great.

What's great about it: Ease of setup; setup options;signal strength
I feel sorry for the Apple people trying to install wireless routers. I have had lots of trouble too due to Apples not conforming to certain industry "standards." That applies to most routers sold.
The DLink was a great deal on sale. I've had it for about 5 months and it's very stable and signal strength and speed is good. I didn't use the install disk and was up and configured in 5 min.
I have not tried to connect via "n" at the time, so can't vouch for that.

What's great about it: I can't think of anything
What's not so great: Poor range for a wireless-N router
I bought his to replace my NETGEAR - RangeMax 802.11g Wireless Router. My wife and I purchase two new laptops with wireless-N cards so to take advantage of the increased range and speed we bought the DIR-628. Mainly becasue it was on sale for $59.99 (down from $79.99). Back to the store it goes!! The broadcast range was worse than the Neatgear. I updated the firmware in case that was an issue but nothing helped. Guess I'll try the NETGEAR - RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless-N Router and see if there is any improvement.

First things first. Last week I decided it was time to upgrade my 802.11b network to wireless n. I was trying to stream video wirelessly from my computer to my xbox 360. It would kind of work but the 802.11b d-link router and the 54g linkys adapter I was using were not able to transfer and receive the data fast enough, the movies would pause and kind of studder through.
I bought a linksys wireless n broadband router wrt160n and a dlink wireless usb adapter and was using the linksys wga54g wireless adapter on the xbox 360. This was the wrong combination trust me. I am very disapointed with the wrt160n router by linksys. My connection speeds on all computers, laptops and xbox 360 seemed to be slower that the 802.11b setup I had before. The speeds were very slow even on the computer that was wired to it. The xbox 360 would loose its connection all the time. I read forums and visited the linksys web site. Tried all kinds of setting changes since I work in the IT field I felt confident I could get it to work. I mean come on cisco puts their name on it so it must be good wright. Wrong do not buy the wrt160n router made my linksys. It is more trouble than its worth.
Any way if you want to upgrade to wireless n and or stream video from your pc to your xbox 360 then here is what you need. First get this d-link dir628 dual band wireless n router ($69) cant beat that. Then pick up the linksys wga600n dual band wireless n gaming adapter ($99) but well worth it. All the computers in my house are connected at fantastic speeds and I can stream my movies with no problems, best of all once you get the router and adapter connected it stays connected (setup on the router and adapter is a snap). Anyway if you are upgrading to wireless n and need a new router. This one is a must have, trust me you will be glad you did.

What's great about it: Set up, price, works as stated
What's not so great: nothing negative
First, the price was $69.99 instead of $79.99 as advertised on the website-nice surprise. Simple network set of 2 notebooks-one "g" & one "n". Setup using the installation CD on the "g" --no problems/quirks. The "n" computer found the router without incident. The wireless adapter-Atheros-"n" changes briefly from 2.4 Ghz to 5.0--300 Mbps-albeit briefly-according to the diagnostics program, more then the 200 Mbps in the documentation. Great range anywhere in any room.

What's great about it: Superb performance
What's not so great: Not true dual band
I have a relatively simple network/cable provider configuration. In this configuration, the DIR-628 was extremely easy to setup. What was unexpected was a very significant increase in wired connection Internet download speed versus an older NETGEAR G modem. For the price, this model appears to be an excellent value for both wireless and wired connectivity. In addition to IEEE 802.11n range/performance, WPA2 encryption and dual band technology, the router includes a USB 2.0 port for shared devices.

What's great about it: Very fast once installed
What's not so great: The 5 GHz was not compatible with one of my computers
i had an older 2.4 GHz D-Link router that was always dropping my connection. This new router works great once I got it set up. The set-up cd software that it comes with is simple to use, but I still had to call tech. support to get my 3 other laptops connected.
Tech support was very good and i didn't have to wait too long to speak to someone. After 3 days of use, no dropped connection!
The 5 GHz was not compatible with one of my laptops, but so far that hasn't mattered. So you could probably get away with buying the cheaper router that does not have the 5 GHz setting.

What's great about it: It looks nice? The price
What's not so great: Drop offs from the internet
I bought this to replace a Netgear-G router that works fine but doesn't have a lot of range. I guess D-link expects everyone to be a computer tech. The install is not very easy and the trouble shooting instructions in the manual on cd are not helpful. It works fine for an hour or so then totally quits. After resetting everything (modem, router, computer reboot) sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I had to call tech support to help me set this up in the first place because the modem and the router were using the same default IP address. All of the instructions basically tell you to contact your ISP provider if you're having problems connecting to the internet. When I take the router out of the loop and plug in directly to the modem I magically can connect to the internet. I plugged the Netgear-G router back in and I'm siiting on my couch typing this now. It's going back tomorrow.

What's great about it: New electronics smell
What's not so great: I pay $$ and it doesn't work
The Dlink DIR-655 received some glowing reviews and I set out to purchase that model, but alas, there were none in stock.
So, I chose the DIR-628 instead.
I had aboulutely no luck with getting this 'router' online after unboxing it.
I have owned 3 routers over a ten year span prior to this choice, a Linksys, a Belkin and a Netgear, and all were very easy to set up, either by running the CD wizard or simple fill in the blank configurating providing you know the addresses required.
I chose to run the wizard on this one to go along with the recommended set up since this was the first Dlink I've owned. The CD set up wizard went through the process well enough but, when finished, told me my internet connection was down. I could tell from the 'internet' LED indicator on the face of the router it wasn't see the cable connection (Comcast) as well.
I worked with the router, getting into the configuration screens through the browser but couldn't get the router to 'see' my internet connection dynamically. Eventually I entered the settings in manually under the static option and the LED seemed to acknowledge the internet connection, but I was never able to get a wired (or wireless) computer online. I have since put my previous router up, and the internet connection was fine.
Ok, now someone might say, 'well, you need to do this and then that, and that's all it takes to get it online'. No, sorry, from what I've experienced from past router models the setup process should be easier, not like it's the early 90's all over.
I found this experience disappointing, glad it worked better for others but I'll be back to the store tommorrow to return this one. Can't trust it.

What's great about it: easy installation, great range
What's not so great: after one month it quit broadcasting a signal
I bought this to replace a linksys which did not work with my laptops. It was very easy to install and I was more than pleased with its performance right out of the box...for the first month. Then, all of a sudden, it stopped performing. I tried reinstalling, upgrading firmware, and the worst, calling tech support--first call, after waiting 25 minutes, talking for 15, the guy (whom I could barely understand, even though I speak many languages and so am familiar with foreign accents), accidentally hung up.
Called back, 20 minutes waiting, 1 hour with tech support (again difficult to understand), having to describe everything from the beginning, he can't figure it out and tells me to call back in two hours and ask for a level 2. Level 2 call, can understand him although heavy accent, 1.5 hours, he says to have it replaced and call their rma replacement dept.
Call rma, have to leave message, then they will call back in 2 business days with instructions on how to ship the old so they can send a new in replacement. By the time I get the instructions next week, it will have been over a week without a wireless network, and my business is all digital/web! Then how long do I have to wait to actually get the product AND will it work???
I hesitatingly recommend you try it, and if you're lucky, it will work, but keep the receipt close and don't spend too much in case you need a replacement. I'm going back to the store, buying another router tomorrow as I need a working network by Monday, and selling the replacement when I get it on craigslist.
