What's great about it: Unbelievable Picture
"I have two Pioneers Plasmas, and love them, so I stepped up to the Elite. Amazing! And, with a blue ray, it reaches a whole new level.
If you can afford it... go for it! You'll love it!"

What's great about it: picture What's not so great: price
"I purchased this tv about a month ago at best buy. After watching a 42in panny for five years (th42pa20), which back then was King of the hill, there is NO comparison. The picture on this plasma is the best I've seen. Out of the box, the picture is already calibrated by using standard picture setting. the remote is backlit and fairly easy to use. I do not use the speakers because of surround sound using a Klipsch speaker system and a Denon 5.1 a/v reciever, But I like the fact that the speakers are detatchable and there is a output for a subwoofer. This plasma is loaded with features. From changing picture settings on each input to using the remote for all of your home theater components. If you have the cash, spend it on this plasma. GO PIONEER!"

What's great about it: Setup was easy, the picture looks stunning and the unit itself looks great. What's not so great: It gives off a good amount of heat but I guess that's to be expected.
"This is my first plasma TV because I've always been a 1080p LCD man. But after listening to my best friend rave about how great his both past and present Elite series TVs have been, I decided to give the Pro-111FD a shot. All I can say is WOW! I now have to take back all the bad things I've ever said about having a plasma TV because my Kuro Pro-111FD looks awesome. The blacks are really black and the colors are simply amazing.
I use to think my previous Sony XBR4 1080p LCD was simply amazing but now I am blown away by my Pro-111FD. Of course standard definition is going to be "so so" but watching Blu-Ray discs at 1080p are simply amazing. I was able to catch this TV on sale for $3500 which is a steal for such a high end TV.
Buy this TV because you will not regret it."

What's great about it: Stunning picgture, beautful deep black levels, true-to-life color reproduction, ability to customize and calibrate What's not so great: Most AV settings (except Standard) can't be set for each different input; some buttons on remote not backlit
"The Pro-111FD Kuro ('black') certainly lives up to its name. It produces jaw-dropping, deep blacks that make its true-to-life colors look all the more beautiful and stunning. The wide range of user-selectable as well as automatic features that protect it from 'burn-in', largely eliminated this as a concern for me about buying a plasma TV. The Energy Save feature of this TV also reduces the long-standing concern over the cost of operating a plasma TV.
The picture is as bright as it is beautiful, putting it on a par with some LCDs for brightness. The user-selectable automatic light sensor and automatic color sensor work well to automatically adjust the picture brightness/color for different room lighting conditions.
Sound output from the (optionally) side-mounted speakers is excellent, with automatic as well as user-cusomizable settings to adjust the sound for a wide variety of tastes and environments.
There are 4 HDMI input terminals and other outputs, as well as a USB port, Ehternet cable port, and PC input terminal that provided me with a wide range of interconnection possibilities for my home theater set up - with lots of expandability left over.
The seven AV settings (picture presets), except for Optimized, can be customized. There are two 'hidden' modes, ISF-Day and ISF-Night, that will appear if this TV is calibrated through the service menus, and can be locked so the settings can't be changed without accessing the service menu again. Although the Standard AV setting is the only one that can be customized for EACH input (cable, satellite, DVD, BluRay), the other customizable settings that are shared between inputs provide enough versatility to support most tastes - or needs.
Buttons on the remote are somewhat small and some are not backlit, making selection in a dark environment less friendly than it could be. On the plus side, the remote is comfortable in the hand and can be programmed to operate a variety of devices using codes (provided in the User's Guide) or via a learning mode.
This Pioneer Elite is truly a class act. Even the User's Manual, with it's glossy, deep black cover, smacks of class! The absolutely stunning picture on this TV vastly outweighs any minor shortcomings this plasma TV may have. In short, if you love home theater, movies, and watching high def TV, give this Kuro very, VERY serious consideration. It is, without a doubt, worth the price. I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing this fantastic TV and would recommend it to anyone - in a heartbeat!"

What's great about it: Best picture available What's not so great: Gets hot, not EnergyStar
"I looked at a LOT of flat-screen TVs before choosing the Pioneer Elite. Nothing else comes close to the picture quality of this TV. It has a lot of connectivity options, including computer, etc. There are A LOT of customisable features on this TV, every setting can be tweaked to your liking or left in automatic to choose for you. If you can afford this TV don't think twice about any other unit (unless it's the 60" Pioneer)."

"Outstanding tv, the BEST!!!! SD channels look good, but HD/Digital look excellent!!!!!!!!!especially Blu-ray movies look top-notch. The first movie I saw in blu-ray was Transformers and it looked like nothing I had ever seen before! It was the clearest, and best picture. The black levels are also at it's highest. This plasma is top-notch and you won't regret it."

What's great about it: 2nd to none picture quality and black level What's not so great: NONE
"This panel BLOWS any and every set away! NO QUESTION! HD programming and Blu Ray are JAW DROPPING!!! Pictures so life like and 3 dimensional that it makes those 120htz lcds look like cartoons while this gives off the most natural and real image you'll EVER SEE PERIOD!
The black level on this set are so astounding the screen basically dissapears when it goes blank and ultimatley is what gives the picture the depth and amazing contrast and colors it produces.
This is without question one of those things in life where you can say you get what you pay for. Yes the previous generation pioneers were phenomenal, especially the previous Elites, but these newer models have taken it to ANOTHER LEVEL!!"
