I was worried about the space in the freezer going from a side by side. Plenty of space in fridge and freezer.
This product has... Design I love, A convenient ice maker location, An easy to change water filter, A quiet design, No hard to reach spots, A freezer designed to fit full-size pizza boxes, Lots of door storage, Multiple temperature zones
About me... Budget Conscious

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR!!!
We have regretted this purchase from the beginning.
Summary of problems:
1.) Persistent leak inside. GE Recommended fix...aluminum tape.
2.) Noisy ice maker. GE acknowledgement...poor design...defective assembly...newer design fixes problems...needs replaced. Also..Ice continues to dispense when you pull away cup leaving ice to fall on the floor.
3.) Poor water pressure in dispenser. Same as above.
4.) Mother board assembly prone to failure (3 times in 3 years)...GE feedback...this is not uncommon...just have to live with it...should have purchased the extended service plan...REALLY?!?!
5.) Poor service. Multiple service calls at inconvenient times of the day requiring time off work to babysit with the problems still not getting fixed.
6.) Poor customer service. Only partial "prorated" reimbursement of cost of a totally irreparable fridge. No reimbursement of loss of food, service call charges, and inconvenience of being without a fridge for over a week.
BACKGROUND: We went top of the line GE Profile products when remodeling our kitchen. The fridge cost us $2600 less than 3 years ago. Within the first several months the mother board went out and had to be replaced, which the technician told us would have cost us $800 dollars to replace. Luckily that was covered under the warranty. Shortly after the 1 year warranty expired we noticed that the back of the fridge on the inside had been leaking for some time because under the bottom drawer was a puddle of water over an inch deep that had frozen solid. From that point on we had to mop up the water every couple weeks. Knowing the high cost of servicing this fridge we just decided that mopping up the water was cheaper. We then noticed the ice maker making a horrible noise for hours at a time and the water pressure from the dispenser had decreased to a slow trickle. Eventually we called a service technician out who replaced the cooling fan/air duct assembly in the back of the fridge. The next day the leak persisted AND now the fridge did not cool completely (a new problem – the fan had stopped working). We had to call the tech back out who got direction from GE to use aluminum tape to seal the leak (IN A $2600 FRIDGE...USE TAPE!!!) and that the mother board needed replaced AGAIN and we needed another cooling fan assembly! That's 3 mother boards in less than 3 years. Before it was all said and done, the service technician had to come out a total of 5 times before determining that the fridge was irreparable. The final time out he told us that there was so much wrong with the fridge and that the repairs were all adding up. He told us that the ice maker and the dispenser was a defective design and had been improved over the last year (thus admitting that they have had problems with this design from the beginning). He also said that the leak was a common defect he routinely treated with aluminum tape. The final straw was that the tech said there was a red wire that was just hanging from somewhere inside the fridge that he didn't know where it was supposed to go. Finally, after a 3 hours service call, the fridge was deemed irreparable and was now totally dead, so obviously all the food was lost. The tech was on the phone with the customer service department who told us that we would have to wait 5 days for the GE Customer Service group to decide what they were going to do...so we are without a fridge for at least a week!!! They did tell us they would prorate the cost of the fridge and give us some money towards it...So GE basically sold us a defective product with poor design, required us to buy a warranty, then left with the cost of repairs (so far paid $320 out of pocket) and without an operating fridge (loss of food and inconvenience). We likely will have to put another $1000 towards the purchase of a fridge within the next week to replace this one. NOT GOOD FOR GE!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! Actually stay away from GE all together would be my recommendation unless you buy the expensive extended service plan otherwise you could be out hundreds or thousands of dollars!
What's great about it: capacity
What's not so great: poor design, expensive to service

Had to return this unit. The ice dispenser had a slow leak - after trying to repair, and water still dripping onto my floors all night, they determined it was a design issue. The condensation and ice chips that remain in the chute are at a refrigerator temp and not a freezer temp, and so slowly melt and drip. It could not be fixed so I had to return it!
Stick with a side by side if you want ice in the door.
What's great about it: More Frig space than a side by side
What's not so great: ice/water leak

This is a great fridge it looks good, it is very functional can hold two Gallons of Milk in the door, water and ice works great. This is the same fridge as the Samsung just a cheaper price. Only difference is the decal the says GE profile instead of Samsung. It's the same fridge. So go for the cheaper one whatever it may be when you got to purchage. I highly reccomend this fridge zero problems.
What's great about it: This fridge is great, same fridge as the Samsung just a different name decal on the front.
What's not so great: No problems everything works great

I have got this refrigerator for two weeks. I had a little bit concern because of the review rating from the customers. My only experience with this new refrigerator is it does all the thing it suppose to do, and the flexible shelves are really good for you to arrange stuff. The bottom freezer is big and the compartment design are very good. It matched the stainless steel range and washer in our kitchen. A lot of people complain about the ice maker. We have three people in our house, I think the ice are more than enough for a family of five. You have to buy ice if you are hosting party at home. It is supper quiet. The price is very good now because it will be replace with a new model which is at least $600 more than this one. I would not buy this refrigerator if I believe all the reviews people wrote here. I really wish people can write something more objective reviews about the product they purchased.
What's great about it: Nice design inside and flexible shelf
What's not so great: Ice droping sound during night.

The first ice maker broke within 3 months and we have had 3 more replaced since then (in 14 months). The fan for the ice maker is very noisy as is the fridge overall. Ice dropping is very loud and the unit pops loudly at random times (even when not dropping ice). We really liked the top/bottom design and there is plenty of room in the fridge and freezer. The configurable shelves are very useful and the control panel is logical and easy to use. This would be an excellent product if they could work out the issues that mostly seem to be associated with the ice maker.
What's great about it: Configurable interior
What's not so great: Noisy fan, Ice maker

My wife picked this GE out and told me it was Consumer Report's top rated bottom freezer model. When we got it home and I looked over everything closely, I noticed on the label on the left inside of the refrigerator compartment that it was Made in Korea. A week later while in a local Sears that had this model in stock, I noticed that a Samsung model that was almost exactly like the GE. Folks this isn't a GE but a Samsung with a GE nameplate. The other thing I noticed is the Samsung was rated as having 28.5 cf capacity and the GE at 25.5 but their height, width and depth are the same. The ice maker, doors, and shelving are also the same. I would bet the capacity is a marketing thing as there doesn't seem to be much difference between the two except the Samsung is a few hundred dollars more, it has a movable freezer door pull, the second freezer drawer pulls out with the bottom one, the door controls are slightly different and the shelving details have minor differences. As far as the frig., we are very pleased. It is very quiet, hold the set temperature without varying, and is nicely arranged. I have read some horror reviews on Samsung but I suspect that those are exceptions rather than the rule. It is very attractive in the kitchen, opens and closes smoothly and quietly, and, so far, is everything we were looking for. Also we got a great price (four or five hundred less than the regular "sale" price at the big retailers at a local Appliance Direct store. The only real disappointment was finding that after thinking I was buying an American refrigerator, the largest American appliance brand was sticking their elite "Profile" label on an imported one.
What's great about it: Steady, even temperature; Well arranged, roomy
What's not so great: Wish the ice maker had more capacity

We bought this refrigerator in Oct. Ice maker is extremely loud when cubes are dropped. Ice dispenser shoots cubes out with such force that pieces fly out even when glass is held to the top of the dispenser. Some pieces get caught and then drip leaving water marks. We bought this refrigerator in Oct and the ice maker stopped working in Jan. Has been replaced but we still have the same problems.
What's great about it: Large freezer
What's not so great: Ice maker is loud

We bought a series of GE profile products--refrigerator, gas stove and dishwasher--and have been tremendously disappointed with each appliance. The stove recently required a $400 repair after less than 3 years use. The refrigerator had its cooling fan burn out twice, and now the doors need to be replaced because the sealng liner is tearing off. The dishwasher requires both pre and post-washing of the dishes.
If we'd bought cheap appliances I wouldn't be so angry. We expected much better from GE.
What's great about it: The look
What's not so great: Everything else
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've been waiting for this frig for a long time!
Previous models had flaws. GE took note and made their impovements!
I've had this frig now for over a week and I love it! The ice maker was loud at first but when the ice bin fills up I can barely hear the ice fall into the bin.
I love that I don't have to bend over to see everything in the frig. An added feature that I didn't realize is that the clear shelving allows you to see what is in the drawers without opening them!
The extra long deli shelf is wonderful!
Can't do without the cubed/crushed ice on the door and the filtered water is awesome!
The door alarm works and I'm glad!
Super quiet refrigerator!
The turbo cool was especially helpful when first plugged in! It was cool enough within an hour to start putting food in it! (The book recommends waiting 24 hours)
The freezer is huge and I like that the basket is of a solid materal and not the white wire where items could fall out.
I sometimes forget that there is an extra drawer in the freezer!
What's great about it: Everything!
What's not so great: Can't think of any!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love this refrigerator. When I leave the door open to long, a cute bell chime lets me know. When I open the door I am not blinded by the bright light. Everything is easy to reach and store. Uses less energy. The ice and water function is great. Filtered water tastes so good.
What's great about it: LED Lighting; space; vegetable, meat trays;

My husband and I just recently bought a new home and after many weeks of looking a new refrigerators decided on this one. Let me tell you, I love it!!!!! It is so spacious. I love that I don't have to bend or squat to get something out of the fridge. We just had a party and everything that I bought, including party trays fit perfectly. There was no stacking or rearranging to get everything to fit. I love the ice and the water on the door, it is a must. The freezer is huge, again no stacking to get things to fit and since it is on the bottom no worries about dislodging a stack and having it all fall out onto the floor or you foot (or you head)! I give this a thumbs up, 5 stars.......
What's great about it: It is so spacious.
What's not so great: So far none.
