What's great about it: Very configurable, good tonal quality
What's not so great: Documentation could be better.
From clean to dirty, this amp rocks! From classic rock to blues to folk, there is a sound for everyone. With so many different configurations for both channels, it's hard to decide which ones are my favorites. But when I do decide, there is a save mode to keep the ones I like in memory for instant recall with the push of a couple buttons.

What's great about it: A lot of frills packed in a small box.
What's not so great: It's all good.
First of all don't let the size fool you, this little amp is a screamer. 15 watts will get you loud enough for nearly any practice situation (and actually some small live venues). Of course there's always the option to mic it or run it direct into the main PA system. I researched all these $99 practice amps before I decided on this one. The ability to run delay and reverb simultaneously with the other effects sold me. None of the other small units had as many amp modeling options either. Craftsmanship on this amp is good and all of the "rack effects" are adequate for nearly any sound. I particularly like the way you can edit and save your settings. Only a few small things could have made it better. I don't like the placement of the input jack directly above the bank buttons as it makes them hard to see and reach. Also, I've never been a big fan of completely open-back enclosures, so I partially enclosed the back of mine. Third, the small "nubs" on the bottom of the amp could hardly be described as feet. I added some larger rubber feet that actually do the job. Regardless of the "nit-picking", a value-packed piece of equipment

What's great about it: good sound quality. good effects. easy to use.
What's not so great: not much
I recently got a guitar with a pretty bad amp. i decided to get this and im glad i did. its very cheap, has amazing quality and lots of good effects that you can edit. you can get a good sound, then save it in one of the 12 memory spaces to get back to it. the distortion in it is fairly good, though it sounds amazing with a distortion pedal. maybe with a noise reducer if you can afford it. you can get all sorts of sounds like grunge, blues, punk rock, metal, i can get it to sound just like metallica or ozzy osbourne. the effects are also fun to play around with. bad things are that it seems a little cheaply built on the outside, but just dont drop it. it is very very loud, i can only have it on like 3/13 volume before the house is shaking, and kinda hard to get it not too loud but not too little. but its better than being too quiet i guess. i think this amp is better than any other amp under $200

What's great about it: Best sounding Modeling Amp,with Trans Tube
What's not so great: no footswitch
This amp blew me away, I preiously had Marshal 30dfx and Line 6 spider3 30 watts amp, but the peavey vypyr 15 is the best sounding amp I have ever owned. It is simply the best in sound quality, best price(@ $200 less than other amps) most reliable amp, most impressive is the trans tube technology the vypyr uses.Dont be fooled by its 15 watts rating ,it has more power than other 30 watt amp, get this amp u will thank yourself, for the price its a steal!

For a practice amp you can't get any better than this.I got tired of lugging around my Peavey Special that I've had for 25yrs and bought this little dude for practice and our occasional jam sessions.I don't use any special effects or pedals with my '57 Fender Tele and this thing sounds just great.Always liked Peavey products and this one didn't disapoint.Getting a good practice amp for $100 that is easy to carry is just great!

What's great about it: Lots of effects, sounds great on clean
What's not so great: muddy, clips when turned up, effects aren't all that
The Vypyr is a good beginner amp. I've been playing for a little over a year now, and it has served me well. It has lots of effects, amp models, and hey, for 100 bucks it's not a bad amp. It sounds great on clean and I have no complaints with that. The problem starts to arise if you use a stompbox or turn it up a little with one of the distortion amp models. The sound breaks up on you, it's muddy, and the speaker can't handle the sound if you like a lot of low end. With my hotrod pedal, the amp sounds like it's going to blow out when I'm palm muting! Like I said before, for 100 bucks it's not a bad deal. If you expect to play through a metal pedal or crank up the amp, though, look elsewhere. This little amp can't take it!

What's great about it: Plug it in, turn it up, Great amp to step up to.
What's not so great: Nothing really haven't had any problems with it, it's been durable and clear sound.
I recently got this amp and when I first used it I was totally suprised of how great the sound quality was and it even has a built in turner which is a huge plus cause then you dont have to hassle around tuning your guitar its all right there.I've been playing guitar for a year and I know too much about amps but this one is a must buy!

What's great about it: Many amp models, effects, analog, loud
What's not so great: No stomp boxes like the other models, but hey, it's only $100!
This amp is extremely impressive. For only $100, you can't get anything better than this brand new. The Line 6 Spider III 15W amp can't even compare to this. This bad boy is a real analog amp, unlike Line 6's Spider III's which are digital. AND it has transtube, which gives it that tube-like sound. Pinch harmonics are beautiful on this amp, and each amp model on the Vypyr have both an overdrive AND clean channel. The tones are very flexible, meaning that you can definitely change your sound with this amp. There's A LOT you can do with just this amp. Trust me, if you enjoyed Line 6's Spider III series, you'd definitely love this amp. Peavey blows away the Line 6's Spider series with the Vypyr series.
