What's great about it: Ease of Use and Setup
What's not so great: bad transmission rate and speed drop offs

"Okay, setup was a snap, probably one of the easiest I've ever done. Seemed like all was good until I noticed Netflix movies over the Xbox constantly stopping and restarting due to slow downs in the network. When I initially setup the network my speedtests showed 19.78 Mbps when I started having problems and checked speedtest was down to 1.3 Mbps. The advice from tech support was that I can "release and renew my IP address" to get the speed back, which it does, for about 4 or 5 hours.

Linksys tech support is useless. If you buy and have issues with the product you'll get more support from the Linksys forums then you will from Linksys.

Linksys firware upgrade will NOT help this issue. Read their forums and look at the number of complaints on this router before you buy, wish I would have.

Last hope for this router for me is being able to flash the firmware with a 3rd party product, otherwise it's a brick.

What's great about it: easy to setup, superb range, works with N and G with no issues
What's not so great: higher price, but you get what you pay for

"I needed a new router to use wireless N and G connectivity in multiple products. My previous Dlink locked up constantly while using g and n. The Linksys 610 is very simple to setup, great range, and works with 4 wired and wireless usage. I have an xbox360 (g), ipod touch (g), iphone (g), pc (n), 2 notebook (n), roku (n), hp dreamscrean (g). All connected easily with both n and g and no lockups. Buy it!"

What's great about it: super fast, never drops a signal, compatible with everything i have and super easy install.
What's not so great: pricey and network magic program is not included which it should be with the amount of money spent.

"people need to follow directions when seting up this router. (run cd first), not that hard..... then do the step by step instructions.....again not that hard. this product is amazing. never drops anything i have hooked up to it. took no more than 10 minutes to swap my old router out with this new one. i have 3-ps3's, 2-xbox 360's, 3-printers, 2-network hard drives and 5-computers all wireless and it all works together with no problem."

What's great about it: Simultaneous Dual signals and Gigabyte hardwiring... and easy installation on Windows 7
What's not so great: Need instructions to get Network Storage to work.

"I've had this for two days now and its great. I have my gaming system and Blu Ray players on one frequency and my computers on the other. Great coverage through out my home and faster downloads/streaming. My main PC is hardwired at 1GPS on my main network and I can connect it wirelessly at 300MBPS to the other frequency at the same time to stream video's to my xbox. Installation was a no brainer and basically did it itself. My only issue is trying to figure out how to get the Storage unit to show up on my network... No instructions were included for that."

What's great about it: Seems to operate consistently, with no wireless interruptions so far
What's not so great: Setup, especially when cascading

"This Cisco/Linksys is operating well, but setting up was and still is a chore. The manuals do not address cascading this router (as a second router downstream from a primary router) and setting up an extension to an existing network just is not covered in the setup rotines. As a result, the setup install hangs, and in Win7, I have at least 4 networks established that I don't want or need and am trying to figure out how to delete. Tech support via chat was unhelpful, with a tech that never really got his head wrapped around the issues. The only way to check that a secure wireless network was actually successfully established was to try and intrude via a non-networked computer (fortunately I had one). So the equipment may be OK, but setup and network integration and related tech support just plain stinks. If you are installing as a standalone router, it's likely much simpler."

What's great about it: True dual band means everything!
What's not so great: Price, but you get what you pay for

"Not sure why some people have problems with this router? Setup was very easy and you just can't beat the performance and compatibility with Xbox Live, which was the main reason for this purchase. I have 3 Xbox 360 systems and several other wireless devices all in use at the same time with no problems! I have had this router for a month and have not even had to reset once. Also has the best coverage of any router I've used."

What's not so great: it is pricey

"I have router from my local cable company and it is not strong enough for what I want to do. This router so far is the best one in the market right now. I have my laptop my xbox 360 and my HP printer all connected via wireless and it is more than 100 feet away from the modem. For business this is the best router that linksys made. It is pricey but you get what you pay for and SO FAR SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!"

"I've got this router connected to:

3 independent laptops, wirelessly
3 independent computers, one via wireless USB connection
my iPod iTouch
my smartphone
my PS3 gaming system via wireless N bridge
my Wii gaming system wirelessly

And it all works flawlessly and SIMULTANEOUSLY. I have been using this router for 6 months now and it has not let me down whatsoever. I consider it one of the better electronics purchases ever made.

What's great about it: Dual Bands and Great performance
What's not so great: Price a little high

"I had the old WRT54G for years and decided to upgrade while it was still working instead of being surprised one day and being out of service. First I got the WRT310N but had issues with it dropping signal and not a great range or speed. Took it back and got this router and have been as pleased with it as I was my old original WRT54G. Note I also got a new modem (sb6120) at the same tijme and the modem was causing lower upload speeds. I took it back and got back to my speeds but what impressed me most about this router is that it worked great even with the defective modem causing lower uploads. Had I been new to networking I wouldn't even have noticed it....This router has great range, and the dual band is great. I have my PC and Zune and Vonage phone and 1 XBox 360 connect on 2.5 ghz while my other XBox 360 and notebook pc connects on the 5 ghz band. Great speeds all around. So far the best router I've had."

This router really does the job   12/05/2009

What's great about it: All the options for configuration.
What's not so great: Little bit expensive

"I bought it to be used instead of sbg900 motorola. Tired of wireless conection dropped all the time. SInce then Wireless conexion is always up. Also configured my usb HDD and it was really easy to configure as well. Now I have a network drive I can share with all the family. My home networks use 801.11 G with wpa-2 aes and my xbox uses a 801.11N and works like a charm!. Money totally worth it."

What's great about it: It works great and the online help was good.
What's not so great: It's a little pricey.

"I replaced an older 802.11a router with this WRT610N unit. I had to replace the USB cable to the old router with an Ethernet cable. After that, I just followed the instructions. It was a snap to install on my desktop and my laptop. My laptop is still using a 802.11a PCIMA card without any problems. I had to use the Linksys online help to figure out how to connect our two iPhones to the router. Once they told me that the 24 character security key was the password, we were in. Now our iPhones are connected to this router and our WIFI connection with Time Warrer Cable, downloads data 50% faster than the 3G network in our area. I can now download hugh data files to my iPhone from either of my computer to support the iPhone applications are like to use. I highly recommend buying this unit."

What's great about it: When it is working, it has great throughput speed.
What's not so great: Continuously drops internet connection even with firmwear upgrade.

"I'm using an HP Pavilion dv9700t notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 and an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN internal wireless card. I bought this router to replace my Netgear RangeMax WPN824 v2 Wireless G Router so I could upgrade my wired LAN connection from 10/100 to gigabit and upgrade my wireless connection from 54mbps to 300mbps. The purpose of the router was to have my external hard drive/media player wired for fast file transfer, my Nintendo Wii wireless on the 2.4Ghz G band, and the laptop on the 5Ghz N band.

When connected on the 5Ghz band the wireless connection continuously dropped the internet connection and went to Local Only access and needed to be reset every 5-20 minutes, but during that 5-20 minutes, the speed of browsing the web and downloading files was amazingly superior to the wireless G connection. I had no problems on the 2.4Ghz connection at 54mbps with the Wii connecting to the internet. The wired gigabit connection worked flawlessly as well.

After exchanging the first router I had for a new one and several days of calling Linksys customer service and several hours on the phone and many firmware upgrades, restarts, reboots, and resets later, as well as the tech remotely connecting to my computer for $9.99 (which in the end I got a refund for), I finally called it quits. I was told that this was new technology and that there was not enough information to fix all the problems and that the technology would probably be fully developed in a year or so.

I think this router is overpriced for the beta technology. The Linksys customer service was ok, based in India so some of the techs' accents were hard to understand. The routers web interface was easy to use and understand but the LELA (Linksys Easy Link Assistant) was a bit buggy (I uninstalled it.)

If you want to try it, go ahead, but don't be suprised if you end up in the same situation. I really can't wait for this technology to be developed so that it works well. It's a great idea but needs some work. Best of luck!

"I have an old netgear router that I get a better response with. I purchased this one for the range, which is good, after constantly resetting the router. The good news is I am fully wired in the house, but I do like to use wireless everynow and again. It will disconnect you while you are in the middle of a download, or bidding on line. Then it needs to be unplugged and left for a period of time. It does look good and goes with the rest of my hardware."

What's not so great: No Vista Support on Software

"Okay Vista has been out since 2006. We are in 2009! Linksys needs to get with the program and need to update their software to support vista. the Cd loads but will not install the software therefore you would have to configure the router manually from the router's page. The software LELA would be nice to use because it gives you the map of everyone on your network. and can enhance your wireless speed. but since i can't install it i miss out on that. Thanks Linksys for not using Vista!"
