What's great about it: Quick, easy to use, good screen resolution, keyboard is easy to use
What's not so great: I had a little trouble setting up wireless, but fixed easily with help from Sony chat

Compared to a higher priced laptop, No difference

What's great about it: Same computer as a higher priced comp that I have
What's not so great: battery life
"I have to say the Vaio (which many say, is the "top of the line") so far, I've been thoroughly impressed considering the price I paid. I paid the $599 price and really see no difference than my Dell, which I paid over a grand on. I did think this Vaio would be faster than the Dell with Dual processor but haven't noticed a difference. However, it does buffer a bit faster than the Dell, which is good. I feel that for the price I got a steal. It's just as good if not a tad better than the more expensive laptop. I'm pleased with the quality. And feeling good about the money I spent. I'm really liking the glossy screen which I thought I wouldn't like as much but I do. Good stuff Sony. Thanks.
Oh one more thing, It does NOT get nearly as hot as my Dell. Neither does the battery charger. GREAT!"

What's great about it: Super Girly
What's not so great: A bit heavy...
"I love my new laptop...it's exactly what I was looking for. I'm not big on gadgets and electronics but I needed a laptop to download pictures and music, and of course do some online shopping. I love the color of this notebook it's not a bright pink like the Dell, its a very subtle pale pink. And setting it up was very easy. The only thing I had trouble with was locating one in Orange County, CA. None of the Best Buys had them available onsite so I had to order it online. I went into my local Best Buy store and they ordered it for me so I paid no shipping fees. Since it is a 15.4 screen I had some problems finding a cute matching girly notebook case/bag but I finally managed to fine a pink croc one. All in all I love my new laptop."

What's great about it: Cheap and Decent Performance
What's not so great: No Internal Mic
"I bought this laptop for my wife because of the good price and nice enough features, and in my opinion it was a very good buy with the exception of the internal mic, it doesn't have one.
My wife was used to using it as a speaker phone and make calls using Skype, but now she needs to use a microphone which is not a big deal just seemed weird that a laptop these days wouldn't come with a mic."

What's great about it: Great value, good specs
What's not so great: bloatware
"I ordered this for my wife as an early christmas present. I am in I.T. and only trust one brand which is Dell. I've never had any experience with Sony but I gave it a shot based on the specs for the money and so far it looks like I got a great deal.
I first removed all the junk that comes pre-installed with the machine and reluctantly left vista on there. Granted I've only been using it for a few days but it performs really well for basic functionality. Great value for the price. Very good specs for the price. The screen on this thing is NICE. Very impressed. Now we'll see how it does in the long haul but so far I am happy and my wife loves it (she saw it while I was setting it up so I gave it to her early)"

What's great about it: Beautiful screen, super fast, multitasking, price, quality
What's not so great: sensitive cd drive, volume a lil low, comes w/dumb applications
"Ideal for any college student or anyone that breathes oxygen! Had it for bout 3 months now. This is my first laptop. I was doing research between DELL and SONY for about 2 weeks. Chose this b/c of the Vaio reputation. Mines only gets hot if I have the power cord hooked up. Screen is bright but u can click on the battery icon to change brightness to preserve battery power. The Vista runs ok and when i have multiple applications open, it still runs well. The CD drive is very sensitive to the touch. This is a problem because it slides out/eject and it can be easily broken!! Very easy to travel with, I cant put it down, I take this everywhere even to bed. The wireless internet/LAN is fast and Excellent! If im out and need to get on the net I just stop by Burger King, lol. It burns DVD and CD very well. The memory is excellent, I download music alot and the capacity is great. U can always add more memory if u need it. U can sell your portable DVD palyer b/c this is better. The volume needs to be louder but its cool though. Easily hooks up to my printer via usb cable to print. Lets me edit pictures. Laptop has an alligator like texture and is good to minimize scratches. Keyboard and bulit in mouse is ok. Weighs like 6 lbs so I can carry it around in my paltop backpack with all my books. Its not to heavy, it's thin and does not take up alot of room on a desk. I just put it in my laptop backpack and go! Just remove the junk applications that comes with it. Love it, and the bubble screensaver,it adds the final touch.
Have the product for a couple weeks, not the same day, b 4 writing a review. We all know is's pink but this will not help the customer at all."

"I'm currently a freshman in college and at first had no idea what I needed in a laptop. I researched and researched and found this to be the perfect one for me. It has a fair battery life and an average memory space. I saw what I liked in the store, which was the black version, but when I went online, I found the pink one for only a few dollars more. I got just the computer I was looking for!"

"I love this laptop! I've used other expensive laptops but this one is Dynamic! The price was excellent and definitely worth it! The display is vivid and true to color, the keyboard is great. Doesn't overheat like some laptops. I purchased a cooling pad (not the ones that you have to connect to the usb for power) which gives the laptop a boost and lets the air flow through from under and it's great!
The only thing is that there are no shortcut buttons but that's no biggie!!The system runs fast even with several applications running at the same time. The DVD quality is excellent. I love it!!! Would purchase another one just like it for family!"

"I saw where people mentioned the computer or the battery was getting hot, and I have had that same problem with my Acer (which is now 5 years old). This is because of the processor, locations of air slits, and the fan. Intell processors can make computers run hot. On my Acer the air slits are mostly on the bottom which does not allow for good air flow. Using a computer on a bed can also make it hot. I have found one solution to be a chill pad. I wish there was a better one."

"I purchased this lap top 4 my 12 yr old. Bought her a dell inspirion 1525 had 2 send back 2wice after second time told them 2 credit my account. went 2 best buy web site saw this lap top which is much faster and much more quaility so far so good. also much cheaper. only con is that the key board is really cheaply made. Havent noticed the heating prob like others had stated. so far i do recomend this 4 the price."
