I got this laptop primarily for drawing purposes. This is my first laptop. On my home computer i have a tablet, but when i found out i could draw and write directly on the screen i had to get this. It's everything i hoped it'd be and more. The space and memory are great and its light weight. EVERY digital artist needs this laptop.
AN IMPORTANT FEATURE that i think should be pointed out is that the screen is pressure sensitive. I didn't see that aspect listed anywhere, and I was afraid it wouldn't have it. But when I draw a line in photoshop, it varies its thickness according to the pressure i apply. Just like a regular tablet.
It's a bit expensive compared to the exact same model just without the thouch screen, but I assure you it's worth it. I spent half my savings on it and I'm not the least bit dissapoined.
What's great about it: Touchscreen baby!
What's not so great: Battery, but thats to be expected with this screen

What's not so great: very short battery life, DVD drive door tricky to open, its a good display but not the best, no screen protector!

I have nothing good to say about this computer. From the first time I powered up the system, I have received The Great Blue Screen of Death on such a regular basis that I have been unable to use its advertised features. I received this computer as a swap for my previous TabletPC under the No Lemons Here policy. Although BestBuy and the manufacturer would not repair key problems with my previous Tablet PC (design flaw in the latch that cracked the screen bezel and a hinge that was always wobbly), I never experienced The Great Blue Screen of Death. I have used System Restore seven times now in the two weeks I have had the computer to restore it to out-of-box state, and the problems persist. Other problems include frequent system freezes and extremely slow performance. Come on, HP, you could have done much better.
What's great about it: If it worked without crashing, it has great potential
What's not so great: I get The Great Blue Screen of Death at least twice per hour

So a few people in different reviews said that they didn't like the fact that the battery is loud when it's running on high performance, or that the computer gets hot when its running fast. Well that is going to be true for any computer. Nothing is perfect. But I think this computer is great. I use it for school and its got pretty good battery life, and the 12" screen is great for lectures. I love it.
What's great about it: It works great, its pretty fast, I use it for school and so far haven't had any problems.
What's not so great: I haven't found any real problems yet.

This is a wonderful little device. If it were any smaller you could fit it in your pocket and call it a Smart Phone. If you're a gamer, be prepared to be BLOWN AWAY at the smoothness even the most up-do-date video games perform.
Don't forget a service plan, however! I don't know of a single computer that can last 3 years without experiencing at least ONE defect, and this computer should be no different. I previously had a Gateway and I received this computer after about 2 years due to the "no lemon policy," which basically means that I received a computer which was twice as fast as a replacement for my old unit.
(Disclaimer: If you send your cpu away to get serviced, COPY YOUR DATA! Even if it is for a problem not-related to your hard drive, if they decide it to be a Lemon, they will REFUSE to return your computer. Always copy your data, remember that!)
What's great about it: Tiny & Lightweight; Powerful Video Card for current games; Spacious and Packed with RAM
What's not so great: Screen isn't anti-glare but I believe you can buy a generic glare-free cover
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a gift to our child who went away to college this year. Great for all his music, graphics, etc. Lots of memory and great pic on the webcam. He takes it to classes so that during free time he can finish his work and then use the wireless hookup to email, im and watch movies.
We had Dell laptops in the past and this was our first HP. We are no longer going to purchase Dell computers. Service with Best Buy and HP has been great.
What's great about it: Fast, lots of memory, great webcam
What's not so great: Wish the screen was larger.

I purchased this laptop for the tablet features -- drawing, animating, artwork. However, I've quickly found other features to be really convenient. The built in web cam is awesome for communicating via Skype. The fingerprint recorder is amazing for replacement of passwords. The size and weight of this laptop makes it easy to travel with. The keyboard is nicely arranged and feels good to type on. The features of this laptop are double the nearest competitors (Toshiba and Fujitsu) at HALF the price.
What's great about it: Portablility, CPU speed, Features
What's not so great: None.

Perfect size for a tablet. Too large of a Tablet is hard to use. Too small makes it hard to game and type. This convertible is the perfect size to game, write with, and type.

A friend of mine bought one of these and showed it to me, I immediately had to have one. I had wanted a Tablet PC for a while, but the prices were just too high. This computer was a good price for a Tablet PC in general, and a GREAT price for a Tablet PC with this kind of power. I was very pleasantly surprised with how well it runs games. Every game I've attempted has run smoothly, most of them at full graphics quality (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Spore, etc). Crysis ran great as well, with some of the quality settings decreased but with the texture quality maxed out.
The tablet orientation is great. When I bought this, I didn't realize that the touch screen and pen device are Wacom products, which means the display for this doubles as a Wacom Graphics Tablet (useful for direct-drawing in graphics design, CAD, etc).
I'm a college student and prefer taking notes on a laptop. This one is considerably more compact and portable than any I've owned before, but is also considerably more powerful than any I've owned before.
I have been using this laptop for a couple months and have recommended it to numerous people already.
What's great about it: Great hardware for the price, especially for a Tablet PC. Compact. Tablet orientation is great.
What's not so great: Nothing

I had a HP Laptop before which lasted three years so I got this one. I loved it when I was it in the store so it was a must have. Since the store did not have it I ordered from Bestbuy.com. Shipping was fast but shortly after downloading all the programs I noticed a problem with the speakers (croppy sound)like others have reviewed. The fingerprint reader didnt work, laptop got very very hot, fan blew extremely loud and Internet Explorer kept crashing. I called HP which kept me on the phone 4 hours for two days to try to fix the problem which failed everytime. So after having the laptop for only two days I returned it to the store and they gave me a new one.
The new one works great no sound problems, no heat issues what so ever. So I just leave the last laptop as a manufactuer defect. The tablet is great. It writes great and is so easy to understand how to use it with the tablet tutorial. The finger Print reader is the best. It makes my life so easy especially cause I have so many accounts and no longer have to write the username or password anymore. Just one swipe and your in. This tablet is very user friendly and easy to type on much easier than my last HP. I love my laptop and am very happy with it. Battery life is OK but I will be buying the 8 cell in Feb when I return back to school.
I have some issues like the 64 bit. Its very hard to find a external hard drive for it. Most of them support the 32 bit. I brought the WD Passport Elite 320 and it did not work b/c of 64 bit. Now I must look for a portable hard drive that is compatible with 64 bit. Oh the boxes dont specify if its compatible with 64 bit it just says Windows Vista so you must research. Internet Explorer still crashes at random like if u open up another Internet Explorer and that one fails it will shut down both. But I could deal with it I just try to be careful. Don't know if I want to go to another Internet provider since I heard the fingerprint Reader only works with Internet Explorer.
I recommend anyone to buy this laptop. The price is great and you sure will be getting your moneys worth especially with the ecocomy going the way it is.
What's great about it: Design, Size, Fingerprintreader, Tablet
What's not so great: 64 bit, Internet Explorer crashes at times

This one is much improved from the TX2000, which I used to have. I was very disappointed that this TX2525nr didn't have the built-in bluetooth and OneNote software, which the TX2115nr had. But you do get Vista Ultimate and a better processor/video card combo for the same price of what the TX2115nr cost 4 months ago (May08). There's an improvement over the heat management, but it could have been better. The video lag from the prior model has been solved except when multi-tasking multiple windows or maximizing a hulu video. In short, an AVERAGE COMPUTING PERFORMANCE. None the less, it still is a great buy for an all around laptop/tablet pc. You can always get those usb bluetooth (which has come done to smaller size) and buy a Student Edition of Office 2007 which has the OneNote program. The rest of my minor complains are manageable.
What's great about it: Has all current input/output connections except bluetooth
What's not so great: It still gets hot, No built-in bluetooth, OneNote included

It would have been much better if it didn't come with Vista. Sometimes crashes. Sometimes Vista fails to copy files properly from my external hard disk... Oh well, it's a Windows computer eh?.. Got this for $850 when it was on sale and it's a great computer for that price. Upgraded the RAM to 4GB and so far so good. Textured mouse pad makes your fingers feel a bit weird after a long use, power switch is on the side and sometimes gets hit when the computer is on your lap and voilaaa... Goes to standby!!! Operating system is a 64bit Windows and some of your 32bit programs may not work on this computer. Still it's a great design from HP. If I was designing this, I would have get rid of the texture on the mouse pad, make the on/off switch more secure and completely get rid of the Windows operating system and it would have been a really great computer...
What's great about it: Small size, accurate pen controls, beautiful design
What's not so great: Windows Vista, slightly darker & smaller screen,

Ok, so i bought this HP for my small business, and while i absolutely love the features like the decorated outside and the 180 degree viewing screen, i find it difficult to use because the screen is quite small. But other than the screen size, it is wonderful, fast, large memory and perfect for on-the-go businesses.
What's great about it: it's cute to look at, 180 degree viewing, small
What's not so great: screen is too small

I had the opportunity to purchase this machine at $899. I considered getting a tablet pc thru Dell, and their cost was far greater for a machine with less memory and a slower processor. (Over 2K.) I use that same tablet at work, and this one performs just as well if not better.
It has crashed a couple of times, but nothing a simple restart didn't fix. No big deal. A memory upgrade will hopefully fix that.
I am finding some challenges with windows media center, ie. there is a show they offer as a free download that I can't get to work.
The battery is short lived. I use this mostly at home, but I will consider getting an additional battery if I start using this machine on the go. (There are larger cells available.)
Before purchasing this, I saw some reviews indicating that the conversion from notebook to tablet was met with a slowdown in performance as the monitor changed its orientation. I've had no such troubles.
This pc comes preloaded wth a lot of features. Some have complained too many. I've simply been browsing them, and finding some are more useful than others. I'd rather have them all going at first, and pick and choose the ones that work for me as opposed to buying fewer apps and missing something that would have worked well for me.
Keep in mind that this comes with a 64 bit version of vista. The compatability issues are well known. I went to hp's website to configure this same machine and received a message that MS One Note was not compatible. Well, this machine came preloaded with One Note as a part of the MS Office trial and it works just fine!
If you can get it on sale, I definitely recommend this computer. I would even pay retail for it.
What's great about it: Low price, vista ultimate, touch screen, etc
What's not so great: Only 3G (MS recommends 4 for vista ultimate), occasional crash
I would recommend this to a friend!
