Love brings together two men who aren't sure where to fit a relationship into their lives in this romantic drama. Living in the oceanfront working-class community of San Pedro, Zach (Trevor Wright) is a young man in his early twenties who has been forced into the role of emotional anchor for his dysfunctional family; his mother his dead, his father is too ill to work, his sister Jeannie (Tina Holmes) is too busy partying to look after her five-year-old son Cody (Jackson Wurth), and Zach is the only one with the wherewithal to hold down a job and keep the rent paid. He's sacrificed his dream of attending CalArts in order to help Jeannie raise Cody. Between cooking at a diner and looking after Cody, Zach has little in the way of spare time, but as often as he can he heads to the beach to indulge his passion for surfing. While hanging out with his surfing buddy Gabe (Ross Thomas), Zach meets Gabe's brother, the struggling homosexual writer Shaun (Brad Rowe), who has taken a break from Tinseltown while rebounding from a dysfunctional relationship. Shaun goes surfing with Zach one day, and the two discover they're powerfully attracted to one another, and a flirtation turns into a love affair. As Shaun has to explain to his girlfriend why he no longer wants to be with her, Zach tries to make Jeannie and his father understand why he's come out of the closet. Shelter was produced for the gay and lesbian-oriented cable television network Here, though it enjoyed a brief theatrical release before its broadcast premiere. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

This is a great movie. Koodos to Trevor and Brad for doing a fabulous job. This movie should have received more promoting and attention. It is a wonderful love story and the music throughout the whole movie is incredible. Our society could use more of the same. Another Great film is the documentary about the Fabulous recording artists/couple Jason and deMarco. You'll love that too!
What's great about it: Everything!
What's not so great: Too short, wanted more.

I thought the film was really good. I bought this movie blind. I read reviews and it got my curiosity aroused.
I loved the Cinematology. The scenes with the ocean are awesome!
I believe the director truly kept it real. After a few minutes into the film...I kind of forgot it was a film. It was very cool to see a "Gay Themed" Love Story that didn't center itself around illness, excessive intercourse and predictable death. It was nice to see a movie based on men that just happen to like other men. A true Artist that broke the stereotypical mold in which so many want to keep the gay community in. Definitely worth the watch. I loved that it ended on a positive note!
I am glad I own it. I can watch it as many times as I like and will share it with others. Good Job!
What's great about it: The stroyline was quite different. Thank God it wasn't predictable.
What's not so great: Was alittle slow in some areas.

This is a love story of two people who have to come to terms that they are right for each other but have to find a way of how to tell their families and how to go on with their lives. Zach is somebody who can never say no to his selfish sister and has his heart fully open to his nephew, Cody. He is his surrogate father and mother. Shaun helps Zach find out who he is and not to stop living his life for others. This is a perfect love story.
What's great about it: Great movie.

It is wonderful to see a love story involving two men from different backgrounds finding each other and learning things about themselves with a happy ending to boot. This movie will probably turn even the most jaded, g-y or straight, to believe that love is possible in the most surprising moments. The acting, directing, cinematography, and the music are phenomenal. I can watch this movie over and over again without getting tired of it. This movie is a modern take of Maurice by Merchant/Ivory films based on E. M. Forester novel of the same name that shows that love is possible, you just have to be open to it.
What's great about it: The storyline and the acting
What's not so great: Nothing to complain about.

It's rare that a movie can touch your heart so much that you realize it's okay being g-y, because the truth is, is that g-y or straight we all experience the same emotions that make us who we are. This movie teaches us that while our differences maybe in our preference, it is only preference that separates us. We all feel pain, love, pride and all the great emotions of this world. May this movie inspire all of us to realize that we can find someone who will make our hearts skip a beat, but will also challenge us in this world to make a difference. I bought this movie and proudly display it on my wall of amazing movies. I will never forget the emotions that this movie gave me.
What's great about it: A movie for all ages
