In the Vault, you are protected from the Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers and Super Mutants that prowl the Capital Wasteland. But now your father has defied the Overseer and left the Vault for reasons you don't know. You must find him and discover the truth before it is too late. Crashed my computer

What's great about it: Started well with good graphics and gameplan for first ten minutes, then locked up and crashed my computer.
What's not so great: Went online to Bethseda site and found an upgrade download that didn't work. No matter what I did i couldn't make it go
I deleted the game and downloaded again several times with all possible upgrades and it still crashed everytime i hit the play button. I returned the pc version and found out i was stuck with it. I wanted xbox so i wouldn't have to hassle anymore and get on with the game, but you can't exchange one type for another. Best Buy did give me a new pc copy that i have yet to try. I spent about 4 hrs. on two different gamer computers. What a bummer experience. Hope someone else can make it work.

What's great about it: Character creation and leveling.
What's not so great: Bugs and graphic demands. Also the length of the main quest.
The game is fun to play as long as you can play it. For me, I have to save every few minutes to make sure I don't lose too much game time because the game will just randomly lock up and crash. Then it doesn't always start back up when I try. The DLCs have been especially buggy for me, and seem to deviate from the main concept of the game too much. Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta were basically first person shooter games. I felt like I was playing Medal of Honor. Also, the game is way too short, and the side quests are too easy to completely ignore. I feel like I have to go out of my way to find things to do that aren't related to the main story.

What's great about it: Game length, character specialization, graphics, gameplay
What's not so great: Aspects of the graphics.
This game is truely amazing. The storyline is pretty nice, especially once you get into Broken Steel DLC, and can continue after the original game's end. The character creation is great, you can set your character's skills up to fit your specific style of play. Once you get into the game, it is a wide open world for you to play in.
The graphics on this game are amazing, and I dont even have a HD connection to my monitor. The one thing about the graphics that bugs me is the sun. It is really bright and the glare can be overwhelming at times.
As for gameplay, the major quest of the game is a decent length, but if you are just playing to get through the game, this is definately not the game for you. There is so much more open ended parts of this game that far outweighs the actual storyline. I definately suggest getting the DLC for Fallout 3, because it adds more to the game, and they are enjoyable, especially Broken Steel. (have not played Mothership Zeta).
This game is well worth the money, if you are willing to put forth the effort to play it thoroughly.

What's great about it: Tons of options, good story line, vats feature
What's not so great: Small variety of creatures
This is one of the only games that I have played that never loses its flavor. You can choose to be a holy roller and stick to the story or kill an entire city in its sleep. You can be a muscle bound brute and mow down enemies with meele weapons or a tactful sniper its all up to you once you leave the vault. The map is huge and if your into exploring than you will have weeks of fun without any dlc's if you stick straight to the story you can beat this game in a weekend if you add the dlc's your good for another weekend or two. My one and only complaint is the bore of super mutants, mole rats, feral ghouls and the rest, once you have beaten the game you can pretty much see whats comming around the next corner the only real suprise is when you bump into a death claw and if your not well equiped hopefully you saved your game recently.

What's great about it: Fun combat system, plenty to do, interesting concept.
What's not so great: Buggy, short main storyline.
This is one of the best FPS i have played. The main storyline is very short and once you beat it the game completely ends, but there are plenty of side quests to do before that or just run around and explore/kill things. The combat system makes the game fairly easy/simplistic but is still a lot of fun.
The game also frequently crashes for me, and I do have a very good & stable computer.

What's great about it: Good storyline, Easy to use Battle System, High Character Customization
What's not so great: A little Short
Fallout 3 has brought into being an excellent cross between your exciting post apocalyptic survival game and RPG style found in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series. Game play is very easy an intuitive and you can either be the pistol wielding bad guy or flaming sword fighter you'll enjoy this game and it compelling story and game play.

What's great about it: GRAPHICS, story line, able to not have to do each mission one after another.
What's not so great: Once you beat the last mission you can't play anymore (unless you have one of the DLC's)
This game is great! The graphics are awesome looking and the characters and monsters you meet are nothing like other games have. The story is jammed with interesting characters that never end.
Another good feature is that you decide what your character looks like, their name, and if they are a good, neutral, or evil person. The possibilities are endless.
You can go to other parts of the map and not have to worry about finishing a certain mission. You could say this is like a "sandbox" game. You can even do all of the side missions in the game before even finishing the main story line. (this gives you alot of experience.)
The only bad thing is that once the last mission is done, the game is done. Be sure to either have one of the 5 DLC (downloadable contents) or have a save file before you start the last mission if you want to keep playing.
Other than that, GO BUY THIS GAME!!!

What's great about it: Content Length, Graphics, Story.
What's not so great: Slightly repetetive at times.
Bethesda really outdid themselves with this title. Set in the ruins of a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., years after a nuclear war. Where pockets of life are few and far between. And fighting for survival is the daily way of life. Fallout 3 has a few minor irritants such as small glitches and copy + paste dungeon crawls, but it has a LOT more going for it.
First off, the good.
Fallout 3 has SO much content compared to just about anything else on the market it's obscene. Get bored of the main story? Go off and meet some very interesting characters to help with quests. After you get tired of that, there are hundreds of random locations to find, explore and loot. Downloadable Content is available from Windows Live as well as from stores to further expand upon the game.
Graphics are outstanding. The first time I stepped into the wastes of Washington I was speechless. The detail put into every building, tree and creature is astounding. The atmosphere matches what Fallout is supposed to be, perfectly.
The main story. It's short lived but full of great events. It actually makes you feel your accomplishing something at many points during the missions. Helping make the Wastes better, or worse depending on your choices.
And now we move onto the middle ground.
Combat is a double edged sword for me. You can treat it like an FPS, but at times you are going to lean on V.A.T.S. (Vault-Assisted-Targeting-System). Now while V.A.T.S. is a fun tool, watching your bullets hit enemies in slow motion, it can cause combat to be repetitive. There is an impressive arsenal of weapons (Assault Rifle all the way to a Mini-Nuclear Rocket Launcher), but in the end you will end up using the base weapons because of ammo restrictions.
AI. The AI is some of the best that Bethesda has ever put out. The annoying pathing issues from Morrowind / Oblivion are non-existent for the most part. The combat programming is decent, they attack and kill, no commands or anything spectacular. If you want them to retreat with you, you're out of luck. They will stand and fight until they're dead.
And now, the bad.
Repetition, repetition, repetition. It's not as noticeable at first, but after a while you'll start to notice some repetition. In dialogue, combat and dungeons. Many of the characters have witty dialogue filled with dark humor, however most have the same five-ten lines that they repeat along with half of the population. Dungeons suffer from the same ailment in many cases. You'll eventually see every train station, building and cave layouts at least 3 times with different loot and enemies.
Bugs and glitches. As with any game there are bug issues. Some preventing you from finishing certain quests. Others with environment (Getting stuck mostly)
Hardware. It takes a strong machine to run, make sure you have a well-build computer to run this one.
In the end Fallout 3 isn't a completely perfect title, but it's still one of the greatest games of this generation. I would recommend any gamer to pick up this game and play it. Romping around through post-apocalyptic D.C. killing mutants, saving innocent Wastelanders (Or killing them) and struggling for survival is just too much fun to pass up on.

What's great about it: Storylione, Graphics, Weapons, DLC, Gameplay
What's not so great: -A few bugs, Graphics Spaz after 7-10 hours straight of play, System Demand
when i first got this game was like a week after it was released, i was instantly hooked.. easy to get used to if you've ever played Oblivion, the really only bad things points of this game are the graphics spaz after long gaameplay periods.. and the system demand.. my system is highend with Nvidia 295 GTX in 3 way sli.. so not too much of a demand for me.. but after watching the performance monitor, it takes quite the chunk to play it.. but overall 4.9/5

What's great about it: great storyline, good graphics, nice voice acting, well made enviroments, long hours of play, the DLCs, just plain fun
What's not so great: a tiny bit buggy sometimes but not always, storyline a little short
Fallout 3 has to be one of the greatest games I've ever played before. With its "cousin" Oblivion, they are the two best RPGs you can find! Loaded with content, Fallout 3 showcases its true potential. The graphics and voice acting are amazing and the content and the new DLCs will keep you playing this game for a very long time. Aside from pesky bugs sometimes and a little bit of a short storyline, this game will not disappoint, not event to RPG hardcore fans! All I have to say is buy Fallout 3 and reserve a spot in a vault today!

What's great about it: Voice acting, Atmosphere, gameplay, customization, replayability, soundtrack
What's not so great: menu lags a bit; ammo can be scarce; steep learning curve; not suitable for low-end computers
Bethesda's latest masterpiece is a Grisly monument to 50's paranoia, a retro-futuristic take on what washington DC might be like after the fall of a nuclear bomb. Set 200 years after the christening of this new "Capital Wasteland," the plot of Fallout 3 is thick and varied, allowing the player to project his own interpretation of the main character onto the flow of events.
The first thing that struck me about this game was the soundtrack. In the opening scene, The Ink Spots' "I don't want to set the world on fire" plays softly over a tortured cityscape, the washington monument in shambles on the horizon. It's a chilling idea, and it's very typical of the types of scenes this game creates. Also among the credits are Billy Holiday and Bing Crosby.
The game opens with a tutorial that leads you (quickly) through your first 19 years of life. You're awakened one morning to find that your father has left "The Vault," an underground nuclear bunker that is run by a domineering overseer. After staging an escape from the bunker, you find yourself in the outside world, adjusting to sunlight your eyes have never seen before.
The amount of attention to detail in this game is astounding. RPG and FPS players alike will be delighted with the amount of customization or gore-rending they can indulge in, respectively. I found myself leaning forward and jumping back in my chair in reaction to ghoul and mutant attacks - The level of immersion will make you feel like you're really in an oppressive wasteland.
One minor detraction is that the game is unforgiving. For instance, I happened upon a hospital and decided to investigate. after a certain point, I found myself trapped in the neighboring hotel, with no escape but to fight my way through the mutant squatters that had set up shop there. 4 hours and countless deaths later, I emerged onto the rooftop to find a small company of mercenaries who had holed up on the roof. Wanna guess where they sent me back to? That's right, the building I had just escaped from.
If you have the time to invest in it, you will find there is a huge amount of longevity here, and not just that, but honest to goodness, pulse-pounding fun. Don't let this game pass you by.

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: Bug Riddled, doesn't play
First off, just go to the Bethesda site and the Fallout3 section and read all the people from high end pc owners like myself to lower, vista and xp alike that can't get the stupid game to run, some after tweaking can, but others no matter what just can't, even after patches-actually, have read several that said the patches totally messed their pc's up so even that's a gamble. It might be an o.k. game if it would run for everyone, but I've read where people have just sold it and got rid of it because they were tired of the headache. If a cure-all type patch doesn't come out in the next couple months, I plan to sell my game/guide as well- it was a total waste of money to purchase. I've never had a game that was this big of a problem to run.

What's great about it: Not much
What's not so great: Too many bugs!
This game is very buggy! Bethesda wishes you to place the game only in the directory they suggest. If you don't, the game does not seem to work correctly. Also, it does not live up to the orginal Fallout games. The armor worn by the Enclave is changed, and the game does not follow up on the story line from the orginal games.
The Pitt (DLC) is not worth it! Operation Anchorage (DLC) is ok. For a game company that allows MODs they did not make the game robust enough to take peoples MODs well. I was able to play through it once (before I used any MODs), then it stoped working. I could not get to the final part of the main quest line because the game would not load the next section.
Save your money.

What's great about it: Graphics.
What's not so great: Main questline and combat.
I purchased this game and was surprised that it was not as good as it people said it was. The combat was very boring, exactly like the game Oblivion, except with guns. The main questline is very, very short; if you buy this game, please take your time and explore because this game ends very quickly. The graphics were fantastic, but overall, the gameplay was very disappointing.
