What's great about it: Everything !
What's not so great: Make sure you don't have any other controller hooked up except for your keyboard and mouse

"The story line keeps you guessing on what will happen next. There are plenty of side quests to keep you busy also. If you follow the main story line, it is a little short, but very interesting and challenging to say the least. Nonstop action, gore and environment interaction make this one of my favorite games. Hats off to Bethesda on this one. One thing to mention, make sure you don't have any other controllers hooked up except for you keyboard and mouse....the graphics will not work correctly and you can't play the game."

What's great about it: Graphics, game play, storyline
What's not so great: Sounds do not represent range in game all the time.

"This game as been the most fun that I have ever had with an RPG! Buildable weapons, storyline, size, landscape, character depth! The little details in the game are great, the one thing I would let people wanting this game is, you need a REALLY good computer to run it at it's best! You will not be disapointed that's for sure."

What's great about it: Everything. A classic must have game for any hard core gamer.
What's not so great: Bugs but is still a must have game.

"If you liked Oblivion(Elder Scrolls 4) then this is the game for you. Re playability is very high. This game has a great story line great quests and if your a gamer like me and like blood, violence and hours and hours of gameplay you will love this game. The V.A.T.S. combat system is something new and is fantastic I love the slow motion captions of a raiders head exploding or getting flying off at the neck. Unlike the other guy who said he had problems installing i had no problems i installed it and played right after. I have a single core Amd Atholon 64 processer and a Ge-Force 8400 graphics card the game is set to medium graphics and it looks great and IMA it looks better than Oblivion. The only problem i have is in game crashes with the graphics and it just crashes out but my computer isnt that great i still love playing thisgame despite these issue i have it doesnt deter me from playing it i have over 80 hours of gameplay on it thats because i love exploring the wasteland thoroly oh yeah the game guide is a must have if you want to know where all items are and are like me and like to find out what options you choose and where they will take you. The game has termendous replayability as Oblivion did like 1 reviewer said its like Oblivion with guns. Bethesda made another classic game thats the reason i got the game i think bethesda makes some of the best games and this is my first time playing the Fallout series i never played 1&2. This game is awesome it is worth the 50 bucks and the strategy guide is worth purchasing believe me i have so many book marks in it. Also the decisions you make affect how your game will play out and the games ending pick a side Good or Evil. I cant wait till i beat it and start a new game. So many great weapons, skills, perks this game is a must have i hope this review helped i know i read these and they play a factor in my decision to buy a game enjoy oh yeah and its real bloody and violent not a good game for the kiddies."

What's great about it: What's not? It has great graphics, great story, and great gameplay and features!
What's not so great: Nothing so far!

"I got this game yesterday afternoon and the only time I stopped playing ti was to sleep. I got right back up and started playing it again.

If you don't normally like games like this... sort of sci-fi, mutant, wastleand kinda games, this game will definately change your opinion. Me, I'm a big Call of Duty fan. I usually look away on games like this. But I heard good reviews and saw it was becoming popular, so I thought I'd try it out....

Perfection! I love every single aspect of this game, from the customization, all the way to the tactical and strategic V.A.T.S combat system.

The further you get into the game the more you want to play. Beware it's highly addicting.

On a side note, this IS NOT a FPS, so don't come into the game thinking all you're going to do is shoot a few mutants and so on. Oh no no, this is an RPG. There are quests and an actual storyline involved.

It's well worth the money... maybe a little more!

Here's a sample I made on Xfire (sorry sounds off a little)

What's great about it: Graphics, Sound, Story and Engine
What's not so great: Windows Live, no game play after main mission

"I'm a big fan of Elder Scrolls so I grabbed this game the day it came out and I'm very impressed! Bethesda managed to increase the graphics on the same Oblivion engine wile still keeping the same system requirements. The game runs fabulously on my modest Nvidia 7800GS, P4-D3.2Ghz w/ 3GB RAM, installed on a secondary WD Raptor. The story is compelling, and the beginning is very imaginative with your birth where you choose your name and gender and get a feel for the game play. The weapons are great and combat system is superb, especially the V.A.T.S. Most decisions trigger consequences, good and bad. The radiation feature is unique and thoughtful. Character stats are in depth and allow you customize your attributes less directly than in other games. The only parts that disappoint me are that when you finish the main mission the game is over; and the Windows Live feature is virtually pointless. The new patch (version 1.0.0.15) is essentially garbage. It fixes irrelevant problems and actually crashes more than before so wait for a newer patch. I would have also liked to see at least one non-hostile vault where you could interact with other vault dwellers. I can’t wait until they release the construction set. On a side note, I am not experiencing any hardware or software problems since I installed this software. Fallout 3 does use Sony’s SecuROM v7.36 which will check for the disk in the drive and for disk burning software like Daemon Tools, Sonic, and Roxio. If you use this software you might have some issues; though I hear that the new patch will fix this. I use Nero 7 and I haven’t had any issues. Still, a must have game!"

What's great about it: Breathtaking graphics, intense gaming, near unlimited freedom of actions.
What's not so great: v.a.t.s shooting system gets repeatative after a while, underground terrain too similar.

"A classic single player fps game. Fallout 3 is a complete game with stunning graphics and exciting images. Recommeded for all fps lovers."

What's great about it: good transition form Fallout 1 & 2, lots of options
What's not so great: level scaling is a bit off, humor is not as rich as the previous games

"A very enjoyable game.
It is very good transition from the original game.
I'm not a big fan of FPS, but I like this one. I really liked the original fallouts and as a substitute for the original system this is pretty good.

My biggest compliant is I did not find the same level of dark humor as the originals. It is more of a Mad Max feel for humor. That is the situation is darkly humorous (there are a few dark chuckles in DC that are good).

The game is overall pretty good. An opportunist strategy seems to be the design. It really doesn't favor good / bad and SPECIFIC choices you make can haunt you. There are a few cases where you choices have long lasting effects, but not as much as I would expect.

Final thoughts. If you liked the original fallouts this is a descent successor."

What's great about it: Excellent gameplay and story, you choose your path
What's not so great: Really only for hardcore gamers

"Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10
Sound: Great – 8.5/10
Gameplay: Spectacular – 9.5/10
Replay Value – High (for a single player only game) 9/10
Overall – Near Perfect 9.5/10

Please note: I have never played any prior Fallout Titles, and this is from a n00b prospective.

Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10
The graphics are make you look twice – When you first exit the vault and see the landscape, you think to yourself “what next”? The graphic interface, use of PiP Boy and the movements really show that Bethesda took the time and care to make this well worth your hard earned money.

Sound: Great – 8.5/10
The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. The time specific music, the radio channels, and the voice acting are all A+. The reason for the slightly lower mark is the repetitiveness of the radio, some of the sound effects, but overall, a lot of time, and thought, went into putting in effective music, voice acting and emphasis, and surrounding wasteland. The best, yet simplistic feeling is when you first turn on this gam for the first time, and all you hear is the old 50’s radio sparking on with the tube. Well done.

Gameplay: Spectacular – 9.5/10
Smooth animations, huge world design, and interactive and smart A.I. This game can be streamlined to do the main quest, or you can help the citizens of wasteland in their personal affairs. The single player game takes a lot of chances, but succeeds, in making the player make hard choices and customizing the game to their own path. Some find out too late that it is important to make hard choices to choose which attributes to build up. This aspect alone warrants multiple play times.

Some critics and players are commenting on the ending (no spoiler), but I must say that for the amount of customization a person can have in this game, it goes right along with the story.

Replay Value – High (for a single player only game) 9/10
Even without multiplayer, this game has replay value with the limitless ways you can play as – via good, bad, neutral, thief, etc. This did not feel like an RPG to me, and was well done to the point that I am on my second playthrough.

Overall – Near Perfect 9.5/10
I am not a fan of RPG’s, nor long drawn out games over 30+ hours, but I was swept away in this post apocalyptic wasteland. This holiday season is rough with the shear amount of great games, and this is definitely in the Top 5 for contention of game of the year.

This would normally be a game I would run from, but I rented it, and then bought it. It is so engrossing that others will want to watch you play and help you make those hard choices.

The game is not perfect, but close to. The story flows, as with the action, and it makes you feel as if you were there with your character trying to survive.

It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience and to say it is an RPG is gives too little credit. This is an experience that should be played by any hardcore gamer."

What's great about it: Fun to play
What's not so great: Some minor bugs

"Having played through every game to date in the Fallout series I was skeptical of how Fallout 3 would turn out. Even though the game was developed by Bethesda Softworks instead of the original developer the game still turned out to be a worthy successor to the Fallout name. The game does have some occasional bugs but they are not game stopping. The graphics are very nicely rendered and the gameplay is fantastic. The Fallout lore is a bit off in this game but if you can overlook that the game does much to please fans of the series. I would highly recommend this game to any gamer out there."

What's great about it: Lots of gameplay, great story and missions
What's not so great: character animations

"A worthy addition to the Fallout lore that explores the east coast region of the Washington DC area. Has much of the charm and humor of the originals. Some of the character animations are stiff, and the conversation animations are also a bit stiff, but the dialogue is well written and well spoken."

What's great about it: Graphics. Getting ambushed by enemies. Demonic oversized Gremlins!
What's not so great: None

"This games is awesome. It looks great and is fun. Im not going to lie its scared me a couple times just because i wasnt expecting some creature to jump out and slice me to bits. The enemies get smart and will hunt you down. it seems no matter where i go Super Mutants are always chasing me down. Ammo is pretty scarce occaisionally.
Best part is the Love Maching house theme. its pretty cute. i really enjoy the themes you can buy for the houses. to bad you can only have 1.
This is a must buy, the combat system is awesome. and sometimes it feels more like a shooter than an rpg.
Knifes, cool, Swords, awesome, Sledge Hammers, Head Bashingly FUN! Buy it"

What's great about it: low system req., great graphics, 100+ hours of play, AMAZING replayability, reacts to how you play it, huge landscape
What's not so great: SecuROM (modified to only use its "disc check" function, so its not as bad as say, far cry 2 or spore.)

"Ok guys, this game is a MUST buy for any Action fan, FPS fan, TPS fan, RPG fan, Oblivion fan, Non-Linear gameplay fans, and Fallout serious fans. So in general, this is a MUST BUY game. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is addictive and amazing, the whole game is a one of a kind, super fun, long, game. The replayability in this game is amazing, because there are at least 20 different ways you can go about doing each of the millions of tasks at hand. The map area is pretty big, its not Far Cry 2 big, but its big enough to get lost in! The graphics are very pretty, if you have a good enough graphics card i would reccomend setting them to high. The length of the game is SERIOUSLY long, there are probably 100+ hours in this game, 80 for the main game, maybe 10 for the side quests/optional objectives. And of course, about 10 hours for exploring the HUGE landscape. This game takes place in post-apocalyptic washington DC, and its surrounding areas (Chevy Chase, areas like that!) as well as its underground sewers and metro tunnels. And the best thing, this game reacts to how you play it, if you play a good guy, they NPCs will see you as a hero, and will LOVE you, but the raiders (enemies) will be after, and the bad guys will send hitmen after you. But if your bad, they will cower from you, and you can extort almost anything from them, so you can get your items if your good or bad, its just a different way to go about getting them. Of course you have the tons of awesome clothes/armor, and the tons of weapons, and not to mention the VATS targeting system! Anyway, you should definetly get this game, it will probably run on a low/middle to high end PCs, so, it is a MUST HAVE."

"The game is full of suspense and it keeps you on your toes the whole time. Its definitely one of the best games I have ever seen. It installs perfectly and is smooth to play. The graphics are simply beautiful. I'd even say it was better than Call of Duty 4 (they are close)."
